Katherine Tymburksi

Mrs. Katherine Frances (Wiens) Tymburski, beloved wife of the late Mr. Peter Tymburski, was taken into the Lord’s presence with Pastor and family by her side at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the age of 92 years.

Katherine (Wiens) Tymburski was born in Stepanovka, Russia and together with her parents, Helena (Friesen) Wiens and Franz Wiens emigrated to Canada in 1926 at the age of six months.

Katherine was the eldest of eight siblings. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter Tymburski; her parents Franz (Dad, Opa) and Helena (Mom, Oma) Wiens; three brothers Abram and wife Helena and their two sons, Frank, and Neil; three sisters Ellen Hildebrand and her son, Lucille Wiens and Mary Tymburski as well as her brother-in-law, Ralph Wyton.

Her life of service included being a missionary with the Mennonite Brethren Foreign Missions in both the Congo and Brazil. After coming back home she, together with her sister Lucille, were the caregivers for their elderly parents. Her love of gardening and cooking was a wonderful gift to her and to all of us. This continued after she moved to Lethbridge creating showpieces of her ‘green thumb’ abilities, and her cooking expertise.

In 2002, she married Peter Tymburski and together they enjoyed their garden and church lives, some travel and hosting family and friends with good food.

In 2010, her beloved Peter suffered a stroke and was cared for at Park Meadows Good Samaritans while Katherine moved to The Blue Sky Lodge. The Lord took Peter home in 2013 and Katherine continued to reside at The Blue Sky Lodge until she was hospitalized in early April of this year.
