BISHOP, Noreen Ferne

October 31, 1934 – May 13, 2018

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mom and grandma, Noreen Bishop at the Claresholm General Hospital on May 13, 2018 at the age of 83.

Noreen leaves behind her son David (Mary) Bishop of Barons, Alberta, daughter Karin (Butch) Glimsdale of Claresholm, Alberta as well as grandsons Brady (Kaitlin) and Robby Glimsdale, Clinton and Erek (Kirsty) Bishop. She is also survived by sisters Betty (Floyd) Bold and Beverly (Wilf) Gatin of Manitoba and many close nieces and nephews.

Noreen was predeceased by her loving husband George, an infant son Gerald, and her parents Fred and Esther Wicks.

Noreen was born October 31, 1934 in Neepawa, Manitoba. She was educated in a country school and finished her high school education in Neepawa. She worked for the Provincial Welfare Department in Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, before moving to Calgary in 1953. There she worked for Hook Signs, Myers Oilweek & Daily Newspaper, and the Colonel Belcher Hospital. Noreen & George were married October 10, 1958 in Calgary, moving to Claresholm in 1959. She first worked at the Bank of Commerce and later at the Fish & Wildlife Department before joining her husband in the operation of Bishop Service Ltd. until both retired in 1998.

Noreen was an active member and volunteer in many community organizations through the years. She was very interested in family genealogy and spent hours doing histories of the curling and golf clubs in the Town of Claresholm.

Family was the most important thing in Noreen’s life, and she was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Noreen will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

A Celebration of Noreen’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Willow Creek Funeral Home (4079-1st Street West, Claresholm) with Pastor Donna Alm officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation, Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta T0L 0T0.

William Dennis Butterwick

1931 – 2018

William D (Bill) Butterwick of Foremost, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on May 21, 2018 at the age of 86.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Delores and two sons Dan (Donna) and Randy (Norma); daughter-in-law Cynthia; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great- great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Myrna (Bob) Kuhl, Vivian Butterwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his son Bev; and a daughter-in-law Sam; sister Nora and husband Bill Ferris; and brothers George and wife Alice, and Bernard; step-sister Bernice Riley; and step-brother Jerry Cooke and nephew Darrel Kuhl.

Bill was born in Nemiskam, Alberta on June 4th, 1931 to Ashley and Jeanette Butterwick. He attended grade school in Nemiskam and high-school in Foremost and upon graduation in 1949 he married his high-school sweetheart Delores and settled down in Nemiskam. They moved to the Manyberries area when Bill accepted a job with Montana Power in 1951 and to Foremost in 1983. He started working on the drilling rigs during his high school years part-time and had a long and distinguished career in the energy industry.

Bill will be remembered for his love for his family, friends and his community.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the FOREMOST COMMUNITY HALL, 802 1 Ave. W., Foremost, AB.

CARTER

MR. JOHN “JACK” CARTER, beloved husband of the late Irene Carter, and father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Therese Villa on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the age of 83 years.

Jack is survived by his daughter Lisa, son in-law Dean and grand children Forrest, McKenzie and Chance and numerous nieces and nephews, sister in-law and cousins.

Besides his wife, he is predeceased by his parents Chesley and Alice Carter, brothers Ben & Dale Carter, sisters Joan Woitte and Brenda Carter.

Jack was born on February 6, 1935 at Passburg (Hillcrest), Alberta. At a young age, he moved to Lethbridge and on his second day there, met Al Mervyn who became a beloved friend of over 65 years. He loved cars and worked at Enerson Motors, where he met his wife of 55 years. He worked for another 32 years at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre until his retirement.

Jack loved all sports, especially hockey and baseball, but nothing made him smile more that supporting and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He loved fishing with family and friends and played racquetball well into his 70’s. He wintered in Mesa, Arizona for over 20 years where he golfed, hiked and made many new friendships over the years.

Jack was a man of few words but when he spoke it was from the heart, he will be deeply missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew him. We are blessed to have had him in our life and know that he is now in a better place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:00 Noon with Reverend Eva Stanley officiating.

Jack will be laid to rest with his wife Irene in a Private Graveside Service.

DARTNELL

TERRY DARTNELL, 74, died on May 21, 2018 at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Carol; his son, Michael; his daughters, Lindsay (Brayden) and Erin; his brother Michael (Mary Kay); and many relatives and friends.
