By Lethbridge Herald Obituaries on July 3, 2018.

AMEN

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear auntie, EVELYN AMEN, of Lethbridge, at the Garden Vista in Magrath on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Though we mourn the loss of our loved one, we find solace in knowing she has been reunited with the love of her life and husband of 48 years, Conard Amen.

Evelyn was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Pitt and her brothers, Alexander Currie and James Currie. She is sadly the last of the original Currie generation.

Evelyn was born on July 19, 1927 in Lethbridge to parents Alexander & Margaret Currie. She lived in Lethbridge all her life until moving to Garden Vista during her final years.

In Evelyn’s youth, she secured a job with Empress/Broder’s Food and was part of the employees welcoming the Japanese interment community that was brought in to work alongside her. She would remain good friends with many of them throughout her 40-year employment and beyond. At age 24, she was lucky enough to meet and fall in love with Conard Amen, building a life together filled with love, family and travel. Las Vegas and Hawaii were a couple of their favourite destinations.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, as well as all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritans Garden Vista for their love and amazing care of Evelyn during her five-year stay, and extending that kindness and support to Evelyn’s family members that surrounded her in her final days; truly acting above and beyond.

Finally, we would like to give a warm thank-you to Lou Lee for her spiritual guidance and friendship with Evelyn, including final prayers and support.
