Norma Borneman

1933 – 2018

Mrs. Norma Grace Borneman of Coaldale, beloved wife of the late Mr. Larry Borneman passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Norma was born in Edmonton, Alberta on April 17, 1933. She married her husband Larry in 1968, and they spent 40 years residing in Coaldale. Norma loved to read and write poetry. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughters, whom she loved to the moon and back. Norma is survived by her two daughters; Wendy (Rod) Navratil, and Debbie Sim of Vancouver, son; George Sim, grandchildren; Jessica Navratil and Kelsi Navratil, four sisters: Delpha MacDonald, Elaine (Bob) Henderson, Ruby MacDonald, Jackie (Gordon) MacDonald, brother; Hector (Marie) MacDonald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her loving husband Larry, Norma was pre-deceased by her parents Murd and Lydia MacDonald; brother Ewen MacDonald, and son Alex Sim. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 10:00AM and 11:00AM, on Monday, November 19, 2018 at VIA CHURCH – 2820, 18 Avenue North, Lethbridge. William Cook

1920 – 2018

Mr. William Hardie Cook of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Audrey Cook, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Thankful for his long life, but grieving are his children; Margaret (Garry) Cook Pound, Alexander “Sandy” (Sheila), William “Bill” (Carmen), grandchildren Patrick (Kelly) Lawlor, Nicole (Justin) Gatner, Karen (Brent) Cook, Jessica (Jake) Cook, and ten great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by a brother Sonny (Jean) Cook in Scotland, and a brother in law Ted (Sandra) Bancroft in Treherne, Manitoba, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland, England, Australia, and Canada. Besides his beautiful wife of 65 years Audrey, William was pre-deceased by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and eleven brothers and sisters in law. HAGERMAN, Robert Paul

It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Robert Hagerman at the age of 39. Robert is survived by his wife, Lori Baumback; daughter, Karisma Kerber; parents, Wally and Glenda Hagerman; siblings, Scott, Heather (Laurie), Deanna, Daniel (Candice); nieces and nephews, Hayden, Novalee, Brooke, Marika, Jakayla, Liam, Jordyn, Ryleigh, Elliott, Ivyjane, Elizabeth, James, Violet; as well as numerous other extended family and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his grandparents, Marjorie and George Christensen, George Foshaug, Pauline and Harold Hagerman.

 1973 – Bradley Handley – 2018

After a courageous 4 year battle with ALS, Bradley David Handley of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Corrie and devoted father to his young son, Beckett, passed away on Friday, November 9th, 2018 at the age of 45 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father, Cathy and Roger of Lethbridge, AB; brother, Michael; grandmother, Phyllis; father and mother in-law, Dale and Charlotte Roberts; brother in-law, Derek (Carmen) Donnelly and their sons, Kaden and Tyler; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bradley was born on May 13, 1973, in Lethbridge and was raised in Coaldale. Bradley attended the University of Alberta and received a degree in Physical Education. Bradley enjoyed sports including running, kickboxing, and he especially enjoyed his time training and working at hockey schools in the OHL and in Penticton. Bradley was a dedicated husband and father and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Bradley’s life will be held at Medicine Hat Lodge, Ballrooms A, B & C, 1051 Ross Glen Drive SE, on Monday, November 19th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for his son, Beckett, at the TD Bank Trust, Account 255WJ2A. Barbara Hillmer

1933 – 2018

Mrs. Barbara Hillmer of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Norman Hillmer, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Barbara was born in 1933 in Lethbridge Alberta. She was the first child of Jim & Frances Fellger. They lived in Del Bonita where she started school before moving to the family farm in Magrath. Barbara continued school in the one room Farmhill schoolhouse. She completed high school in Magrath as the valedictorian of her class and started nurses training in Lethbridge. She married Norman Hillmer in 1954 and they had a son Ken and daughter Debbie. Barbara took great pride in her family, her home and especially her yard. Vacation destinations were almost always planned around the fruit seasons, so she could do her yearly canning. Even though she had a full-time job taking care of her family and home she still worked outside the home. Barbara enjoyed working with Welcome Wagon when they lived in Lethbridge, with the Magrath Trading Company after the move to Magrath in 1968 and then with the Bank of Montreal for many years before finally retiring in 1995. Many large family gatherings were held at her house where we all enjoyed her amazing cooking skills and made lasting memories. Barbara was predeceased by her son Ken, both her parents, Jim & Frances Fellger and her three siblings, Charles Fellger, Marlene Paul and Carolyn Neilson. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 64 years, Norman, her daughter Debbie, her grandsons Ken & Kurtis, granddaughter in law Julie and her great-grandchildren Jace, Colton & Izabella. Barbara taught her loved ones the importance of family as well as a strong work ethic. She will be forever loved, dearly missed, and always in our hearts. MCLEOD

GLENNA MAE MCLEOD, beloved wife of the late Neil McLeod, passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta on Thursday, November 15th, 2018, at the age of 77 years.

Glenna was pre-deceased by her parents, Glen and Eva Mae Berezay formerly of Coutts and one sister, Lorna Gene Lund (Terry) of Stirling.

She is survived by her seven children: Daniel, James, Debbie (Jeff) Heltborg, Patrick (Terry), Pamela (Jerry) Hochstein, John (Sonja) and Gerald (Dawnene) along with fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will greatly be missed by family and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Coutts, Alberta, on Monday, November 19th, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment in the Sweetgrass cemetery.

NORGARD, Arnold Leonard January 4, 1934 –

November 14, 2018

Arnold went peacefully into the hands of the Lord November 14, 2018 at the age of 84. Arnold was born January 4, 1934 in Claresholm and grew up on the family farm. He loved his family, friends and the outdoors. He worked countless hours farming and raising cattle; in 1982 he became a Real Estate Broker and owner of Homestead Realty Ltd. He was Past President of the Alberta Murray Grey Association, Secretary Treasurer of the Claresholm Fish & Game Association, President of the Claresholm Trap Club, a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and Stavely Elks. He loved calf roping and team roping in his younger years as well as hunting and trap shooting throughout his life – not to mention poker games and gatherings with friends and family. Arnold was full of stories and laughs and could fix anything. He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Myrtle Norgard (nee Johnson) along with his parents Karen Norgard (nee Thompson) and Louis Norgard; siblings Clarence Norgard, Margaret McGuire, Jim Norgard and Grace Norgard. Arnold is survived by and will be greatly missed by his brother Ellis Norgard; daughter Lorraine and son Allan (Debbe); grandchildren Lorinda Turner (Clint) and great-grandchildren Emma, Cameron and Maddox; Mallory Aube (Ian) and great-granddaughter Brooke; and Jeremy Norgard (Cass) and great-granddaughter Hallie; Michaela Pacultad (Mark) and great-grandson Mhykoh; along with numerous family members and friends. A Celebration of Arnold’s Life will take place at the Claresholm Community Centre (5920-8th Street West, Claresholm) on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Margaret Onda

1933 – 2018

Margaret Theresa Onda beloved wife of the late Mr. John Onda, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 85. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John; brothers, Alec, Steve, Willard, Ernie; sisters Mary and Anne. Margaret leaves behind her son Donald; daughter Gloria (Roy) Stewart; grandchildren Benjamin and Ashley Stewart; sister Rose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was born on April 22, 1933 in Stockholm, Saskatchewan. She married John on October 17, 1950. They farmed in Saskatchewan and moved to Warner, Alberta, with young Donald in the mid 1950’s. Margaret loved cooking and worked at the Warner Hotel for many years. She also worked in Milk River at The Fort and then as head cook for 9 years at the Prairie Rose Lodge. She later ran her own café in Warner called The Pool Hall. Margaret loved gardening and looked forward to starting her seedlings each spring. She loved to watch her garden grow and loved to share with her family and friends. She had a green thumb which showed in her flower beds. The inside of her house was filled with plants – her Christmas cactus usually bloomed well into Spring. Margaret loved animals and had a special fondness for cats and dogs. She always looked after any strays that came her way and enjoyed feeding and caring for them. She had a few special pets over the years – Tiger, Niki, Muffy and Babe. Margaret was a devout Catholic and member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was a 30-year member of the Norbridge Senior Center. The family would like to thank Unit 3B at the Chinook Regional Hospital especially Dr. Wilde, Dr. Walsh, Dr. Brower, and nurse Mike for their compassion and care of Margaret. PASCAL

Donna Pascal beloved wife of Mr. Ray Pascal passed away at home in her sleep on November 15, 2018 at the age of 84.Besides her loving husband, Donna is also survived by her cousins, nieces, nephews, their families and many friends.She was predeceased by her parents Grace and Donald Cook, an aunt and many extended families.Donna was born September 7, 1934 in Olds, Alberta. The family moved to Bowness where she was educated, and her love of animals grew. After finishing school Donna moved to Calgary where she worked and met her future husband Ray. After a few years of courtship, they were married in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. They settled in Fort Macleod where Donna worked, and they built their home together. Years later they moved to Lethbridge and upon retirement they spent many winters in Arizona. Donna loved animals and her home was shared with a cat, dog or both and included volunteering for the Lethbridge and District Humane Society.A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day -Saints- MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS CHAPEL- 175 Rocky Mtn Blvd West, Lethbridge. STOPERSKI

1938 – 2018

RICHARD STOPERSKI passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Lethbridge on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the age of 80 years. For most of his life, Richard was a rancher on the Little Box River east of Carmangay.

Ann Wood

1930 – 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Wood announce her passing on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Ann was born in Lethbridge on February 18, 1930. Ann’s greatest joy was her family, hosting Sunday dinners for years that we all looked forward to. She adored her grandchildren, who have many fond memories of sitting on her kitchen counter helping her bake. Ann loved caring for her family, it’s what she did best. Ann also loved dogs, her last being a Greyhound that she rescued. We will all miss her dearly. Ann is survived by her loving husband Joe, children; Garnett (Shannon) Wood, Robert (Gail) Wood, T.J (Ryan) Wood-Loo, grandchildren; Jaimee and Brittyn Wood, Thane, Brittney and Hailey Wood, Madyson and R.J Loo. She was pre-deceased by her beloved son Rick. At Ann’s request, a private family service will be held.
