Robert “Bob” Buchholz

1953 – 2018

Mr. Robert “Bob” James Buchholz, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Katherine “Kate” Buchholz, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the age of 65 years.

Linda Donick
1927 – 2018
 Magdelena Katherine Donick, beloved wife of the late Nick Donick, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 91 years.
 Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, December 17, 2018 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 Linda is survived by her daughter Brenda Donick of the Yukon and her children Laurie (Dennis); Bobbi and her children Tyler (Megan) and Tanner; James (Tabitha) and their children Kayleigh and Evan; son-in-law Mike Holland of Lethbridge and his children Raegen and Jessica. She is also survived by one sister Alvina Mason of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
 She was predeceased by her husband Nick Donick; daughter Debra Holland; parents Kasmier and Lily Wilk; sisters Mary, Irene, Victoria, Ann, Rose and Theresa; brothers Albert, John, Michael, Peter, William and Bill.
 Linda was born on the family homestead near Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. Her early years were marked by learning to be industrious and hard working. Linda trained as a hairdresser in Regina and upon completion started a business in Taber. She fell in love with one of her clients, Nick, and he was attracted to her because he thought she looked like a movie star. They married in May 1949. Linda followed her man and worked in a bakery, while Nick worked in the oil patch in central Alberta. They decided to settle down farming northeast of Taber, where they resided for forty six years. They ran a successful mixed farming and purebred Hereford business before retiring in 2002. Linda was a true partner as she worked outside with every aspect of the farming operation. She was also a terrific cook and baker as well as a meticulous housekeeper.
 Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and socializing with her relatives and friends. She liked to travel, gardening, tending to the baby animals and especially caring for her grandchildren. Linda loved each grandchild for their uniqueness.
 After Nick passed away, Linda sold her condo and moved into Martha’s House in Lethbridge in 2015, where she has spent her remaining years.

DOUGLAS

Harold Aylmer Douglas of Etzikom AB, passed away on December 12, 2018 at the age of 71 years, in the Bow Island Health Centre, after a short battle with cancer.

Harold loved his ranch and the animals he raised. He was a loving happy person who always liked to make you laugh. He leaves to cherish his memory 3 children: Austrian (Ray), Cayne and Brit, 3 stepchildren: Jason, Veronica (Bryce) and Michael and their families, also his very special cousins and friends: Tracy Douglas, Jeanette Lee Dunlop, Joe and Lorna Ohara and Mike Hofer; his best buddy. His sister Rhoda (Brian) and numerous other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, also a very special new friend William Barrows and family.

Harold was predeceased by his parents Fred and Phyllis, loving companion Ruth Richardson, brother Gerald (Shirley).

Harold was born in Raymond, AB on January 26, 1947. He had many different jobs. He had a sheep ranch and lived in Nemiscam and then bought the place he was presently on. Harold was a great cook which he inherited from his mother. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

As per Harold’s request there will be no funeral. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Harold will be laid to rest in Tisdale, SK beside Ruth.

We would like to thank the Drs. And nurses in Chinook Regional Hospital floor 3C for all their care and Dr. Woodruff and nurses at Bow Island Health Centre for their care, it is greatly appreciated.

RAUSCH

With deep thankfulness for her life we announce with sadness that Hilde Rausch passed away peacefully in Edmonton with her three children and granddaughter at her side on December 11, 2018. She was born in Germany on August 23, 1946, a beloved daughter of Eduard and Berta Scherer. She is survived by: son Mark and daughter-in-law Michelle, and their children Ella and Charlie; son Michael; daughter Stefanie and son-in-law Michael, and their child Sienna; sisters Erna, Lisa and Ingrid (Sjoert); and brother Richard (Edelgard). She was predeceased by brother Erich, sister Wilma, and brothers-in-law Dieter and Henry. Her family and her faith were of upmost importance to her. A lover of nature who enjoyed spending time in her garden, the long-time grade four teacher at Fleetwood Bawden touched the lives of many students and people in the community with her warmth, generosity, service to others, and sincerity. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church at 10014 81 Ave., Edmonton. Interment will be at 3:00 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at 9808 12 Ave. S. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hilde’s favourite charity, Lutheran World Relief, and/or give the gift of blood; the family will be forever grateful for the countless transfusions that sustained Hilde in her final years.


REIERSON

LORNE REIERSON, passed away suddenly at home in Coaldale, on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the age of 56 years.

A Memorial Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.

Roma Roth

1937 – 2018

Roma Roth of Coaldale, wife of the late Steve Roth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the age of 81 years.

Roma was born in Bengough Saskatchewan July 28, 1937, to Rose and Ernie Nicolay the second oldest daughter of 4 children. She was predeceased by her husband Steve as well as her parents Rose and Ernie.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 5:00pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 1513 – 23 Ave Coaldale, Alberta.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, December 17, 2017 at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, with Father Ian Gagne, celebrant.

STROEVE

HERMAN JOHANNES STROEVE, of Picture Butte, beloved husband of Elizabeth Stroeve, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Coaldale Health Centre on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 76 years.

Herman is survived by his three daughters, Theresa (Dino) Pasquotti, Shirley (Ed) Stronks and Dolores (Cam) Wright, his daughter-in-law, Andrea (Trevor Sawa) Stroeve-Sawa and his mother-in-law, Margaret Oslanski. Also left to cherish his memory are his 11 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his son, Eddy Stroeve, his parents, John & Anna Stroeve, his siblings, Jerry and Diane and his father-in-law, Charles Oslanski.

The Stroeve family immigrated from Holland in 1956 with 11 brothers and sisters. His youngest sister was born shortly after they came to the beautiful country of Canada. Herman was a young man of 14 years at that time and he enjoyed the many different seasons, mountains and especially the coulees.

On October 23, 1965, Herman married the love of his life, Elizabeth. Together they began their journey. In 1967, the Stroeve boys bought their farm and started their dream. Herman was passionate about his feedlot and growing different crops. His zest for life included his family, his faith, camping in Christina Lake, traveling, hockey, curling, golf, hunting and his love for music.

Herman was very active in the community and served on many committees, such as the Knights of Columbus and Alberta Beef. He also helped build the Sportsplex in 1980/81. Opa loved God’s creations and taught us all to be grateful to live in a beautiful country.

In 2016, Herman began his farewell journey at the Coaldale Health Centre. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff for their compassionate care given to Opa throughout the last two and a half years.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Ray & Ellen Wagner officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. CATHERINE’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH – 762 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Ian Gagne, Celebrant.

Following the Funeral Mass, Herman will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery during a Private Family Graveside Service.

YANOSIK

CONNIE MAE YANOSIK, beloved wife of Howard Yanosik, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
