BLACKMER

DAVID JOHN BLACKMER, of Coutts, born on March 5, 1957 in Lethbridge, passed away at the Milk River Health Centre on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the age of 62 years.

David is survived by his daughters, Billie Sue Young of Lethbridge and Bobbie Jo (Greg) Garber of Milk River; his grandchildren, Ryerson and Noah and their father, Jason Young, and Charlie, Jorja and Jack; his siblings, Raymond (Joyce) Blackmer of Milk River, Linda (David) Belisle of Lethbridge, Peggy (Randy) Plomp of Calgary, Tom (Linda) Blackmer of Medicine Hat, Kim (Rob) St. Peter of Medicine Hat and Michael (Noreen) Blackmer of Coutts, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jim & Thelma Blackmer, his brother, James Jr. and his nephews, Paul Blackmer and Kevin Belisle.

David loved his grandchildren, family, friends and all those who knew him. He enjoyed rodeo, truck driving, haying, hunting and fishing.

A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Roque Pereira officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Roque Pereira celebrating.

A Private Family Interment will be held at the Coutts Cemetery.

DELPARTE, Kathryn (Cox)

February 19, 1939 – April 25, 2019

On Thursday April 25, 2019 Kathy passed away with her immediate family by her side. Kathy was born in Lethbridge Alberta, and after attending and graduating Picture Butte High School she moved to Calgary to start her career in banking. In a few years she was married and had 3 wonderful children. In 1969 she moved with her family to Maple Ridge, BC (and surrounding areas) where she remained until 2003 when she returned to Lethbridge with the love of her life Les Delparte, to reconnect with her family and in particular her mother Genneal Cox. Kathy was active in her church and strong in her faith always believing the Lord would provide and protect her and her family. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Les, her children Carolyn (Brad), Jenny (Kevin) Jerry (Alaina) and her only Grandson Trevor (Lorraine), along with 2 great grandchildren Alexander and Cassandra. She also leaves to mourn her passing surviving siblings Sheldon, Don, Lee, Karen and Gayle, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in honoring Kathryn’s life at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTER, 2410 28th St South Lethbridge, AB, at 11:00 a.m. May 6th, 2019, followed by the interment at Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond AB.

Light lunch will be provided after the interment back at the Stake Centre.

Douglas Arthur Eldridge

1946 – 2019

Mr. Douglas Arthur Eldridge of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Punnada Eldridge passed away at home on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the age of 72 years. Besides his loving wife Punnada, Douglas is survived by his daughters Kimberley (Neil) Vanderkooi and Marlene (Craig) Eldridge, as well his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his daughter Bonnie Lou. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta. Ethel Gammon
1927 – 2019

Ethel Gammon, beloved wife of the late Gordon “GG” Gammon, passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Since most of her friends have already arrived at the pearly gates, a graveside service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden, one kilometre north of 64 Avenue on 50 Street, Taber on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Ethel is survived by her son Robert (Barbara) Gammon of Lethbridge; her grandchildren Jeff, Jocelyn (Alex), Stacey (Tyler) and by seven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her parents Alex and Esther Cseke, brother Alex Cseke and her sister Esther Pupp.
Ethel was born in Hungary on September 13, 1927, the youngest of three children. She immigrated with her family to Canada, arriving in Halifax at Pier 21 in June of 1935. The family moved from Montreal to Taber where she attended school. In 1949, she married Gordon Gammon who worked for Canadian Pacific Railway. They had one son, Robert.
Ethel was a wonderful seamstress but her passion was women’s retail, including Vickeries General Store, Eaton’s, Draffin’s Drug Store, the Sally Shop and Mary Robison‘s. She was the manager of the Sally Shop for more than twenty years.
Over the decades, Ethel was a volunteer to many community organizations including the Red Cross and the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. She was also a fifty year member of both the Royal Canadian Legion and the Lethbridge Symphony Women’s League, where she made many of her lifetime friends.
Much appreciation for Dr. Owen Ukrainetz, Dr. Morley Wong, the dedicated staff at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital, hemodialysis unit and the nursing team at St. Michael’s Care Centre, palliative unit.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Gertrudis Marcela Alas, went home to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on April 19, 2019 at the age of 67. Marcela is survived by her four children Jose Galdamez, Flora Aguirre, Sylvia Wasylyshen and Ricardo Alas. She was a wonderful loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the family and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, she will be dearly missed by all. Gertrude “Trudy” Macdonald

1922 – 2019

Gertrude “Trudy” Elizabeth MacDonald was born in Craven, Saskatchewan to Marie and Karl Wagner and grew up on the family farm with her 10 siblings, all now deceased. She married Donald Strowger MacDonald on March 10, 1943 and they enjoyed many happy years until Don’s death in 1978. During their marriage, they lived in Winnipeg, Halifax, Regina, Saskatoon, North Battleford, Calgary and Lethbridge, following Don’s career, at first with the Canadian Army, then with General Motors and later as a realtor. Trudy was a loving mother and homemaker. Her cooking was the best! She also held part-time retail positions at Simpson Sears and Woodward’s. In earlier years she volunteered with the United Church and served as president of St. Martin’s UCW during her years in Saskatoon. She was a long-time member of McKillop United Church in Lethbridge. She also supported the Gyro Club of Lethbridge as a member of the Gyrettes for many years. Following the loss of her husband, Trudy met Robert Gilmar and they enjoyed life together until her passing. Some of her fondest memories were of their many years of “snow birding” to Mesa, Arizona, where they owned a winter home. While in Mesa, Trudy and Bob enjoyed many activities, including golf, crafts, card playing, dinners and dances. Trudy loved to dance! They developed many dear friendships over the years at Carriage Manor Resort. Trudy is survived by her children, Karla Wenhardt (Darrell) of San Diego, Joanne Bobinec (Doug) of Wrentham, grandchildren Scott Stevenson, Chris Fero (Suzanne), Shauna Ferguson, Gina Watson (Jamey), Shanna Sutherland (Vince), Charlene Sterling (Rick) and nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She is also survived by her long-time companion, Robert Gilmar of Lethbridge. Besides her husband, Donald MacDonald, Trudy was predeceased by her daughter Ora White and son-in-law Derry White. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, Reverend Glenda Wert, officiating. The family thanks the Home Health caregivers and the staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre for their kind care of Trudy in her final years.

PAHARA

MONTGOMERY “MONTE” JOHN PAHARA, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the age of 70 years.

Monte will be lovingly remembered by his son Shane Pahara; grandson Kaiden Pahara; sisters Debbie and Renee Pahara; and nieces Cindy Pahara, Clint (Kimbo) Pahara and Cole (Emily) Pahara. He is also survived by Linda (Pahara) Cox and Poomjai Lumpongnue.

Monte was predeceased by John & Lillian Pahara, Shannon Pahara and Jace Pahara.

Monte was born to John & Lillian Pahara at St. Michael’s Hospital, on Saturday, May 29, 1948. He loved adventure, whether it was in the mountains or on the coast in B.C. and every road and place in between. He developed a sincere and deep love of Jesus Christ and shared that love with everyone he met. He volunteered for ten years helping with Salvation Army Prison Ministry and was a dedicated patron of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in Lethbridge. He also volunteered his time at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen and at Streets Alive Mission, also in Lethbridge. He was a caring guide to those in need and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A Celebration of Monte’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ken Kissick officiating.

John Robert “Bob” Sinclair

1927- 2019

Bob passed away March 12, 2019 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Born 1927 in St. James (Winnipeg) MB. Bob is survived by his loving wife Elaine; two daughters Kelly Mueller (Lenard) and Sheri White; grandsons Jarett Mueller and Aaron White; one nephew; three nieces and their families, Dauphin and Winnipeg and one cousin, Dave Sinclair – Victoria, B.C. Bob was predeceased by his only brother Frank in 2017. Graduating from St. James High School – Winnipeg, Bob began work with the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1944 – Retiring in 1987. During Retirement, Bob enjoyed many hours golfing at the Raymond Golf Course, enjoyed bowling, stamp collecting and travelling. Bob was a dedicated and well-respected Freemason for nearly sixty years. While able to be active, Bob faithfully contributed as a member, officer and presiding officer of the various Masonic bodies that Bob belonged to. On the York Rite side, these included North Star Lodge No. 4, Shekinah Chapter No. 4 Royal Arch Masons, Acre Preceptory No. 66 Knights Templar, Alberta Council No. 5 and Ararat Lodge No. 5 Cryptic Rite Masons. Bob was honoured by invitation to the Order of the Red Cross of Constantine – Wild Rose Conclave No. 37, York Rite Sovereign College of North America – Diversity College No. 202 and Knights of the York Cross of Honour – Western Canada Priory No. 35. On the Scottish Rite side of Masonry, Bob belonged to and served as an officer with Lethbridge Lodge Of Perfection and Rose Croix, as well as Consistory in Calgary. In addition to serving in Lethbridge, Bob held a number of appointed Grand Offices for the: Grand Lodge of Alberta, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Alberta and the Sovereign Great Priory of Canada. As a mark of the esteem Bob was held with by his fellow Brothers, Companions and Knights, he was granted Emeritus status by the York Rite bodies. We will be honouring “Bobs” life in a way he would appreciate with a Celebration of his life which will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at MASONIC HALL, 315A – 10 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta. This is open to all who may wish to attend.

Agnes Thomsen

1929 – 2019

Mrs. Agnes Thomsen of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Kristian Thomsen passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Agnes and her family immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1956. They first moved to Ontario, then worked their way west across Canada, and settled in the Lower Mainland of B.C where they lived from 1961 to 1987. From there, they retired to Nobleford, Alberta where they stayed until 2011, then finally made their way to Lethbridge. Agnes is survived by her 8 children – 5 daughters, and 3 sons, Karen (Bill) Walton, Jane (Alex) Franz, Hanne, Gert (Carol), Kaj (Wynn), Aase, Chris (Sharon), and Annette (Don); 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Agnes’ Life will be held at a later date.
