STOTT

DONALD HERBERT STOTT was born on March 3, 1932 in Calgary, AB to Mary Abell Elves and Leonard Stott. He was 87 years young when he died on May 11, 2019.

Don grew up in Calgary and Vulcan and later lived and worked in Taber at Bodies Menswear. He also lived in Blairmore, Vancouver and Lethbridge. He worked across Western Canada in sales and in Australia for a number of years for Caterpillar Canada.

Don was a very successful entrepreneur right up to the time of his passing. He loved the travel involved with being in sales and the opportunity to meet people. After retirement from Caterpillar, he started his own business, Seal Corp, a company which dealt with tire accessories. He developed patents for a rim cleaner, tire sealant and a siping machine to use in his business. For the last year, Don operated his business successfully from his lazy boy chair at home.

Don married Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Bullock in 2004. Her family became his and he was very proud of Debbie, Murray, Jamie and Ian and all their accomplishments. Always a gentleman, Don enjoyed fine dining and driving his antique cars. He was involved in politics at the provincial level, enjoyed season tickets with the Calgary Stampeders and spending time with his wife. Betty says Don knew how to treat a woman! She valued Don as her friend, trusted companion and loving husband. Don loved his Mom, Mary, very much and treated her with respect and kindness always. Mary trained Don to be well-mannered and sharp of wit.

Don had a weakness for the finer things in life – vintage cars, fine clothes, antique furniture and especially chocolate! He loved watching sports on TV, especially if Calgary was involved. He always had a twinkle in his eye and loved teasing waitresses and Home Care nurses! He was a well-spoken and intelligent man and very successful in all his business ventures.

Don had a car accident in early 2018 that led to a broken hip and the subsequent loss of his life on the road. He loved church and was recently baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died at home and will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday May 21st, 2019 at 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410 28 Street South, Lethbridge.

Friends are welcome to meet with the family prior to the Service from 10:00 to 10:45am.
