Mary Atkinson

1939 – 2019

Mrs. Mary Atkinson of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Kenneth Atkinson, passed away at Good Samaritan Society Park Meadows Village, on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the age of 79 years.

FILIPCIC

ROZALIJA (ROSE) FILIPCIC, beloved wife of the late Rihard (Richard), her husband of 60 years, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on July 2, 2019 at the age of 96 years. Alzheimer’s disease took her from her loved ones years ago but many happy memories remain.

Left to mourn are her daughter Louise Westland (Garry Mastel) and her children; Melissa Westland; Melanie Johnston (Chris) and their sons Eli, Noah, Jacob and Luke; Michael Westland (Christine) and their daughters Burtyn and Emily; and Matthew Westland (Madison Simpson) and their son Riley; and Rose’s son Stan Filipcic and his children; Katherine Anderson and her daughter Ella; and Adam Filipcic and his son Weston.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard, her parents, her siblings and her son-in-law David Westland.

Rozalija Zerdin was born in Velika Polana, Yugoslavia on February 27, 1923. She married Rihard Filipcic on May 9, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their two young children and were always grateful to their adopted country. Rose loved cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. In their own quiet way, she and Richard were always welcoming to others and no one who visited them ever left empty handed or empty hearted. Her strong Catholic faith was her strength and guidance. Her family was her greatest blessing.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, 2405-12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.

1938 – 2019

Mr. Ed Klone of Lethbridge, formerly of Barons, beloved husband of Mrs. Gwen Klone, passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the age of 81 years.

MAINZER

Our beloved father, PETER MAINZER, of Coaldale, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

He is survived by his loving children: Francine Penrod of Lethbridge, Wesley Mainzer of Lethbridge, Alisha Herget (Matthew) of Warner and Leanne Froese (Tony) of Raymond, as well as his 11 grandkids. He is also survived by his mother Irmgard Mainzer, brother Alvin Mainzer (Pat), sisters Gisela Mainzer, Monica Perry (Ken), Kathy Lamb (Tim), and sister-in-law Lisette Mainzer.

He was predeceased by his father Robert Mainzer Sr. and brother Robert Mainzer Jr.

Peter grew up in Coaldale. He had many of jobs before landing a career as a welder, which he absolutely loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and camping. Any moment he had, he was either telling fishing stories or making plans for camping trips. He enjoyed many adventures throughout his life but his most favourite ones were the countless get-togethers with family and friends.

ZOBELL

ZoBell, Joanna Antonia

(nee Ravoy)

On July 5, 2019 we said our final good-bye to our dear mother Joanna at the age of 92.

Born in Svedernik, Slovakia, at age of 9 years in 1935 Joanna moved to Canada where her family farmed in Raymond. In 1947 she married Bob ZoBell and they continued life in Raymond where they raised their 3 children, Toni ZoBell (Morley McGill- deceased), Steve ZoBell (Barb), and Walt ZoBell (Judy). Joanna also became a proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Known for her kindness and compassion towards others, Joanna was also an excellent cook, had an optimistic view of nature and was loved by and will be missed by many family members and friends.

Visitation will take place at Christensen Salmon Generations (703 13 St N Lethbridge) on Friday July 12 between 4:00 – 5:00pm. Interment to take place at Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond at 10:00am Saturday July 13, 2019. Celebration of life to follow at 11:30am in Lethbridge at Christensen Salmon Generations.
