BESSE CHIZEK
December 9, 1926 -August 13, 2019
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Besse Chizek (Nosek) August 13, 2019 in Lethbridge Alberta. Besse was born, raised and educated in the Valley Center district near Rosetown Sask. Emil and Besse farmed and raised their family in Delisle where they lived until 2000 when they moved to Lethbridge to be closer to their children. Mom was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Over the years she was active in the community with Homemakers, 4H, the United Church, curling, golf and a founding member of the Delisle Senior’s Center. Besse and Emil enjoyed fishing, traveling in their RV and later on bus trips. She enjoyed cards and spent many hours with friends playing Bridge. Besse was also a very gifted crafts person sewing many costumes for carnivals and figure skating as well as making many beautiful different crafts. Besse is survived by her daughters; Peggy (Don) Egroff, Carel Lynn (Roy) MacLeod and Pat Chizek. Grandchildren; Derek (Lucy), Jordan (Roxanne), Janiel, Karly (Dave) and great grandchildren; Ashley, Kyle, Rylee, Addison, Brady, Teana and Jayden. Besse was predeceased by her husband Emil, in 2011, parents Victor and Rozalie, siblings; Joseph (Rose), Mary (Joseph), Rosie (Albert), Frank (Dulcie) and Victor as well as several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the management and staff from West Highlands for their many years of care that they gave to our mother. A private graveside service will be held in Saskatchewan later this fall.

FRASER
STELLA “TONI” FRASER, beloved wife of the late Stanley Fraser, passed away peacefully at Fairmont Extendicare on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the age of 97 years.
Toni is survived by her nieces and nephews, Irene Hudson, Wendy (Ross) Charlesworth and Gary (Laine) Jones.
She was predeceased by her lifelong companion, Stan Fraser, her sister, Wilma Shield and her brother, Wendell Jones.
Toni was born on February 1, 1922 in Commerce, AB and was raised and educated in the Diamond City area. In 1942, she married her soulmate, Stan.
In her younger years, she worked at the YMCA and Kresge’s, where she made many lifelong friends. Later on, she and Stan started Fraser’s Fabrics, where they both successfully worked until their retirement.
She loved sewing, crafts and cooking, and she had a soft spot in her heart for cats. Throughout her life, she made many special friends at River Ridge Condos and on Dieppe Boulevard.
Toni was always a constant caregiver for her family and friends, always putting others before herself.

At Toni’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. A private interment will take place at a later date.

HECK
ELLA RUTH HECK passed away at Fairmont Extendicare on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the age of 89 years.
Ella is survived by her sister Caroline (Robert) Comstock, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and families.
Ella was predeceased by her parents Flora and Joseph Heck, sister Marie (Frank) Liski and brother Henry (Mary) Heck.
Ella was born September 21, 1930 in Regina. She went to England to study singing in her late teens, and returned to Canada to work with the Musical Theatre in Winnipeg for several years. She moved to Toronto and worked as a legal secretary. She always welcomed her nieces and nephews for visits so she could teach them “couth and culture”. After she retired, Ella went RVing and had many adventures that often terrified her family. She moved to Lethbridge so she could be close to her family.

Mr. Delmar Homulos of Lethbridge, beloved husband to Mrs. Rosalie Homulos, passed away at St. Michaels Palliative care on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

JENTJE “JEAN” MAZACS (née Van Der Hulst) passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the age of 78 years. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Roelof (Aug. 2003) and Jentje Van Der Hulst (Jan. 2003), her brothers Jake (May 2013) and Harry (April 2018), as well as her special four-legged friend Yazz (June 2018). She is survived by one son, Tony Mazacs (Dorothy Van Lent) of Lethbridge, two brothers, John & Claas Van Der Hulst of Lethbridge, two sisters, Trudy Van Der Hulst and Mary Mate (Ron Andre) of Lethbridge, nine nieces & nephews, and by her special friend, Suzanne Beste. Jean was born in Dedemsvaart, Netherlands on September 1, 1940. She immigrated to Canada in 1956 where she resided until her passing. She had a wonderful personality, full of laughter and the joy of life, and she was well-loved for her humor, respect and generous spirit. Her life was a definition of true compassion and love, as she was compassionate, thoughtful and honourable. She loved her family and animal companions. Jean loved to travel, as she enjoyed her most recent trips to Holland and Hawaii. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. M. YVONNE ELKIN, “Accordion Lady”, beloved partner in life of Oscar Odney of Coalhurst AB, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2019 at St. Michael’s Covenant Health at the age of 79. Yvonne is predeceased by her parents Gordon & Inez Mann, and her late husband Vernon Elkin. As a Wife, Mother and Teacher, Yvonne touched many people with her kindness, passion for excellence and hard work. As a gifted musician, she took pleasure and pride in sharing her talents with her students and the community alike and was a long time active member of the Coalhurst +55 Club. Always a shining star at home, in the studio and on the stage. Yvonne is survived by her two sons, Bryan (Angie) Shier of Calgary, AB and Steven Shier (Nancy McGowan) of Stonewall, MB and foster daughter Elaine Kienzle of Prince George, BC. Grandchildren: Tristyn, Aaron, Thomas & Katie Shier. Rest now, our angel. At Yvonne’s request, there will be no formal service. Louis Simon passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the age of 92 years, beloved husband of Dorothy Simon of 63 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory seven children, Karen (Martin) Leprieur, Curtis Simon, Tamara (Stephen) Lewis, Lori Simon, Lorne “Buddy” Simon, Robin (Maggie) Simon and Ron (Shanon) Simon; eight grandchildren, Amy (her children, Keatyn, Aryanna, Harlow, Louis (Crystal) (their children Dallas, Karder, Avalyn and Noah), Kelsey, Marissa, Nicholas, Devin, Jaxson and Kian; one sister Liz (Bob) Noble; one sister-in-law Carol Bishop, brother-in-law Roger (Bev) Renschler, sister in-law Janet Renschler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Kelly, Terry and David; by his parents Emilia and Louis Simon; three brothers, Andrew and two in infancy; sister and brother in-law Joan and John Mezei, brother in-law Doug Renschler, brother and sister in-laws Garnieth and Joan Renschler. Louis was born on October 25, 1926 in Sajo Kaza, Hungary and came to Canada with his mother as a child of 3 1/2 years old. His father was already here preparing a home. He went to school at Haig until he was fifteen, then started farming with his father. In 1955, he married the love of his life Dorothy Renschler; that union produced ten children. His was truly a life to celebrate. He left us a true legacy – be honest and true to your word – if you have a job to do – do it. Family and friends were very important. Louis was a Charter Member of the Conquerville Lions Club for sixty plus years, Fraternal Order of Eagles for fifty years, Steward of the Bow Island United Church and for nine years he served on the Alberta Turkey Board. Even in retirement he still enjoyed talking about farming and telling Buddy what he should plant and how much fertilizer to use. Our family isn’t fancy, perfect, worldly or famous – we are just us. No matter what, we are there for each other and it is one of the best feelings in the world. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m and at the church on Monday from 12:00 – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Gloria Angle presiding. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. It is with great sadness that we announce that the LORD has suddenly taken to Himself our precious daughter, sister, granddaughter, great granddaughter, niece, and cousin, Emmy Alie Van Ee on August 12, 2019, at the tender age of 4 years old. Emmy and her family were travelling to Chilliwack, BC when their RV was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Craig Wojtowicz of Lethbridge, husband to the love of his life Georgia “Thank you for loving me always”, loving father to Presley and Dylan, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the age of 49 years Craig is predeceased by his father Stanley and his mother Dorothy. He is survived by his four sisters and one brother, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Craig had a passion for music, he was an exceptional baseball and hockey player. He loved spending time in the arenas and at the ball diamonds watching Dylan grow and develop in the sports that he enjoyed playing himself. Presley was his princess and it was evident to all how much he cherished her. Craig was a devoted Pittsburgh Penguins fan. His passion for music allowed him to share his talent with many musicians which gave him the opportunity to play in several bands. One of Craig’s greatest joys was to vacation in Mexico with his family. Craig was a gentleman; he was humble and kind. He had a contagious laugh and his smile would light up the room. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
