CECILIA ANN BIG WEASEL
It is with heart-filled sadness that the Big Weasel families announce the passing of Cecilia Ann Big Weasel on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the Pincher Creek Health Care Centre surrounded by her family. A Viewing will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, at 1:00 pm, followed by a two-day Wake Service at Cecilia Ann’s residence until noon on Monday, September 23, in Brocket. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Burial at Piikani Nation cemetery. A feast will immediately follow the burial at the Piikani Community Hall.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Lisa Carr, a member of the High Level Canoe and Kayak Club. Lisa passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on September 12, 2019 at the age of 68 years. Originally from Ontario, Lisa settled in Lethbridge and enjoyed her winters in California. She enjoyed kayaking, golfing and visiting with her friends over a good meal. She will be sadly missed by those whose lives she touched. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Ontario.

Holder, Douglas Wilkes
June 16, 1923 – September 15, 2019
Douglas Holder passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 96 years.
He will be dearly remembered by four children Diana Paquette of Calgary, Sharon Phillips (Robert) of Raymond, AB, Larry Holder (Laurie Feser-Hamatani) of Calgary, and Janine Arsenault (James Carter) of High River; 16 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren. Doug is survived by three brothers Albert Holder, Jim (Audrey) and Arnold (Judy); and many other relatives. Doug is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Flossie Holder; a daughter Patricia; nine siblings; and Dorothy Dignan, Sophia Van der Woerd and Muriel Olver Bell.
Doug was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, the 7th of 13 children to Thomas & Flossie Holder. After High School he served in the RCAF during WWII.
Upon returning home he earned an engineering degree from Brandon University and then began a 32 year career in oil exploration with GSI. Doug loved golfing, gardening, playing bridge and lawn bowling. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

1931 – 2019

Lena Fredrika Visser, beloved wife of Hans, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the age of 88 years. She was surrounded by her devoted husband and her five children. Lena was a loving and gentle wife, mother, grandmother and oma with an unwavering faith in God.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Monday, September 23, 2019 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
A private burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service.

Lena is survived by her devoted husband Hans as well as their five children Kenneth (Kathleen) Visser of Taber, Marianne (Allen) Westerhoud of Taber, Richard (Margaret) Visser of Taber, Nelly (Gerard) Dupuis of Taber and Louise (Rob) Payne of Taber; nineteen grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren that were so precious to her. She is also survived by nine siblings and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her mother Willemina Wikkerink, father Hendrik Wikkerink, brother Albert Wikkerink and sister Sina Kempe.
Lena was born in Aalten, the Netherlands on February 3, 1931. She immigrated to Canada with her parents Hendrik and Willemina Wikkerink and ten of her siblings in April 1953. Lena met her loving husband Hans and they were married on April 27, 1956. Hans and Lena were employed by the Litchfield family until they purchased their own farm in 1958, which they operated for fifty two years. She was a lifelong member of the Taber Christian Reformed Church. Lena spent thirty years volunteering for Rehoboth Christian Ministries. She loved volunteering at the FFHM mission in Mexico and spending time with their friends at the Sky Valley Resort in California for many winters. As well, she volunteered at the Mission Thrift Store in Lethbridge.

Robert “Bob” Williams
1948 – 2019
Robert (Bob) Nelson Williams, of Coaldale, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on September 17, 2019 at the age of 71 years. Bob was born August 24, 1948 to John (Jack) Elliott Williams and Jessie Crawford Hepburn. Bob was a member of the Governor General’s Footguards and was very proud to have participated in the changing of the guard on Parliament Hill as part of his military service. Bob had a keen interest in science, pursuing a career in microbiology as a research technician for Agriculture Canada. He started his career in Ottawa and eventually moved to Lethbridge. His passion, however, was for the outdoors; he greatly enjoyed canoeing, hiking and camping in the summer, hunting in the fall, and skiing in the winter. He was an avid reader, greatly enjoying anything historical and supported the local artistic community as a member and volunteer at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG). Bob is survived by his wife Lyn Paterson, by his son Jeff (Nora), his daughters Jennifer (James) and Amy (Brenn), his grandchildren Jacob, Adam and Jasmine, and brothers John and Dave (Christine). Bob was predeceased by his father Jack, mother Jessie and younger brother Tom. As per Bob’s wishes no public service will be held. A private family celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 20. The family asks that you join us in your own way by raising a glass, sharing a memory and celebrating Bob’s life. Thank you to all the health care staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre for their wonderful and thoughtful care.
