1936 – 2019


Clinton D. Bossert, beloved husband of Linda Bossert, passed away in Taber on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the age of 83 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.

CHANGES – A Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Thursday, October 24th at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Wake Service at the White Calf Hall, Standoff from 7:00 p.m. all night. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Friday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Richard “Rick” Esselink

1950 – 2019

Rick Esselink of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Trix, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2019, at the age of 69 years, at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michaels Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. Christine Mensch

1947 – 2019

Christine Lynette Mensch (formerly Harms) of Lethbridge passed away on October 19, 2019, at the age of 72 years, at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michael’s Health Centre after a valiant battle with cancer (multiple myeloma). Christine was born on April 12, 1947 in Mexico. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to rural Saskatchewan and then to southern Alberta. She spoke Spanish and German in addition to English. Christine was a strong Christian; her unwavering faith sustained her through her well-lived life and during her long and difficult illness. Christine loved reading and studying the Bible and Christian teachings. She wrote and published two books and volunteered at her church through various ministries. She was also a wonderful homemaker, cook and baker. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren whom she adored. Christine is survived by her husband Nick; daughter Laura (Ken DeLong) and her grandchildren Olivia and Jackson DeLong, who were her greatest joy and the light of her life. Christine is also survived by her brother Frank Harms (Sally); and her sisters Anne Keown (Brent), Helen Plesko, Mary Rose, Eva Harms, Elsie Skorek (Dennis), and Gracie Scott, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Justina Harms, brother, Jake Harms and nephew, Dustin Harms. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at ROC CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES, 1220 – 23rd Avenue, Coaldale, Alberta.

MILROY

Apr. 2, 1926 – Oct. 19, 2019

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, LUCILLE “LOU” LILLIAN MILROY (née Hill) at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the age of 93 years.

Lou will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Barbara (Keith) Deacon of Red Deer, AB and Sandra (Earl-deceased) Osterberg of Lethbridge; grandchildren Garry (Liz) Watson of Salmon Arm, BC, Deanna (Shawn) McClintock of Parkville, BC and Ron Osterberg; great-grandchildren Sydney and Alyssa McClintock and Tyler and Terilyn MacDonald; and great-great-grandchild Aurora Wilson of Calgary. Lou is also survived by her siblings: Ken Hill, Dan Hill, Jim Hill and Esther Valerio and many nieces and nephews.

Lou was born and raised in Lethbridge; the sixth of a family of 13. She was married for 70 years to the late Andrew “Nap” Milroy, our dear dad. From humble beginnings, together they built a better life for themselves and their children. Lou was hardworking and fun-loving. She loved her family and she created many wonderful memories for them to cherish for a lifetime.

With heartfelt gratitude, we thank the EMT’s and ER nurses for providing excellent care and the nursing staff on 4B and Hala Ibrahim for the compassionate care given to our mother and the support shown to our family. We especially want to thank Mom’s medical team: Drs. Andrews, Janzen and Smuts for their exceptional and compassionate care.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life honouring our mother with tributes for our father at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Harold Cooper officiating with a Reception and Interment to follow.

TOSHIKO (TOSH) TAKEDA

1923 – 2019

Tosh Takeda (nee Sameshima), beloved wife of the late Muneo (Mun) Takeda, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Sunday October 20, 2019 at the age of 96 years. Tosh was born on March 19, 1923 in Kelowna, BC – the eldest of 9 children. Tosh was talented, caring and compassionate. She loved to golf, swim and travel. She found the 13 years as a Girl Guide leader very rewarding but she was proudest of her family. Tosh was a loving mother to her children Hisako (Brian), Richard (Dawn), Donna (John), Jerry -deceased (Laurie), Kenneth (Lila), Jane (Garry), and Susan (Chris) along with 17 adoring grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband along with children, Ronald, Constance and Jerry. Those wishing to pay their respects can meet the family on Friday October 25, 2019 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home – 703 13 St N, Lethbridge. A Celebration of Tosh’s Life will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta – 470 40 St S, Lethbridge. Flowers and koden are gratefully declined. In lieu, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. A private interment will be held at the Raymond Temple Hill Cemetery.

Leon Tam

1958 – 2019

Leon Tam passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital, on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at the age of 61 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Amber Chan. Besides his loving wife Amber Chan, Leon is survived by his sibling’s Yuen Kim (May), Irene, Wendy (Tommy Lum), Nikki (Patrick Lam), And Jim (Catherine Hun), as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives. Leon is predeceased by his parents Yuen and Shau Tam. We will forever treasure his gentleness, calm nature, generosity, and an eminent heart of gold.
