BARROWS
ROSE DARLENE BARROWS, beloved wife of Russel Barrows, passed away at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the age of 82 years.
Along with her husband Russ, she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deborah (Barry Wootten) Kirley of Helena, MT, Shelley (Ian) Baker of Calgary, AB, Wayne (Sandra) Barrows of Coutts, AB and Cherie (Jason) Taylor of Cut Bank, MT, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Cecil Bianchi, Tom Bianchi and Gladys Bunyak, as well as numerous family members.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nickolas and Hilda Bianchi, brother Sam Bianchi and her infant daughter, Darlene Barrows.
Rose was born in Groton, AB, the third of five children. She grew up near Aden, AB on the family ranch and attended a one room schoolhouse until 12th grade, which she completed in Lethbridge. Rose met Russ at dances held at Whitlash MT and they were married in Sweetgrass, MT on July 4, 1958. Their story made the local paper! They eventually took over running the family farm and raised their children there until moving into the Village of Coutts in 1982.
Rose was creative and enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, sewing and cooking. Her pies and rolls were dearly loved by all, especially her grandchildren. Rose was known for reading her bible faithfully and helping with church functions throughout the years.
She was devoted to her family, relatives and friends. Everyone was treated as a gift since she was so kind and generous and people loved to spend time with her.

A Viewing will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street, Milk River, AB, on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kelly Stickel officiating.
Rose will be laid to rest in the Milk River Cemetery.

BORON
LOUISE LUDWIKA “LUCY” BORON, beloved wife of the late Ted Boron of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the age of 87 years.
Lucy is survived by her sister Wanda Mozdzen; children: Gerry Boron, Tom Boron, Teresa Wallewein and Jim Boron (Jennifer Jager); and grandchildren and great grandchildren: Patty (Tim) Gabe, Ella & Olivia Richter, Carrie (Tony) & Lincoln Bosse, Sarah (Jordan) Taivas, Silas, & Amaris Wildeman, Anna (Jon) Niemeyer & Taylor Heninger, Tami Boron, Jordan (Megan), Jasmyn, & Braylon Kallen, Leah (James) Desirae, & McKenna Heidinger, Briana (Anthony) & Zella Thielen, and Parker Boron.
Besides her beloved husband Ted, she is welcomed home by her parents Jozeph and Bronislawa Mozdzen and many other loved ones.
Lucy Boron was born September 14, 1932 in Bialoboki, Poland. She immigrated to Canada after WWII and moved to Manitoba at age 17 with her family. Later making her way to Lethbridge, she met her husband Ted and raised her four children. Lucy had a long career at York Farms where she made great friends. She enjoyed going to dances and travelling. She spent time touring the USA, visiting Poland with her daughter and witnessed her granddaughters getting married in Kelowna, Mexico and Jamaica. We remember her amazing meals and wonderful baking. She spent a lot of her retirement helping care for her grandchildren teaching them how to sew, bake and play dice. She was devoted to the Catholic Church and faithfully attended service at St. Basil’s where she worshiped with her community.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.
Following the Mass, Lucy will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

BRAUN
Aug. 5, 1930 – Nov. 19, 2019
ANNE BRAUN (née Willms), born in Grassy Lake and long-time Lethbridge resident, passed away peacefully while in the care of Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the age of 89 years.
Anne is survived by her daughter Valerie (Robert) Proudfoot; brothers John (Olwin) and Henry (Verna) Willms; and five grandchildren: Christopher (Sarah), Jennifer (Adrian), and Joshua (Maxine) Edwards; Annora and Alicia Proudfoot; and five great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Rev. David Braun, daughter Lenora (Mike) Edwards, parents John and Anna Willms and baby brother John.
Anne’s life was one of dedication to serving God, from her childhood on the farm near Grassy Lake to young teacher in Mennonite Voluntary Service in Ontario, as a matron to orphans in Wetaskiwin, and then as a pastor’s wife in Canada and the USA in several General Conference Mennonite Churches. When her father died, Anne and David returned to Lethbridge so that she could care for her mother. In Lethbridge she continued to share the gospel with Friendship Evangelism and together within the Lethbridge Mennonite Church. Anne was on her own for 20 years after Dave died; then she moved to Alberta Rose Lodge and Coaldale Sunnyside Alzheimer’s Unit.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at LETHBRIDGE MENNONITE CHURCH, 4303 – 3 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ryan Dueck officiating. KOENEN
MRS. MARILYN GLENYS (SHAW) KOENEN, beloved wife of the late Ronald John Koenen passed away at the St. Michaels Palliative Care Unit on November 15, 2019 at the age of 87 years of age.
Marilyn was born in Avonlea, Saskatchewan on July 10, 1932 to her parents Jack & Flossie Shaw. Marilyn was raised in the community of Avonlea before heading to Regina to complete her nursing education a the Regina Memorial Hospital in 1954. Once her schooling was finished, she worked at the hospital in Eatonia, Saskatchewan before moving to Lethbridge in 1956 to work in the operating room at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital.
On November 22, 1958 she married the love of her life Ron Koenen and they moved to the family farm near Iron Springs in 1960. After 32 years on the farm, Marilyn and Ron retired and moved into the Town of Picture Butte. Marilyn stayed in Picture Butte until 2014 when she then moved into the City of Lethbridge living at the Pemmican Lodge until her passing.
Marilyn is survived by her dearly loved children Jack, his wife Dianne, Donna and her husband Rudy as well as her beloved GrandChildren Eric, Danielle, Jillian Koenen and Brett & Summer Nordin and many other very special relatives. Marilyn was pre-deceased by her husband Ron in October 2007, her parents and sisters Jean, Dorothy an brother Donald.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Church located at 528 Maple Cres S, Picture Butte AB on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 2:00pm with a luncheon to follow. A private family inurement will precede the Service at the Huntsville Cemetery.

ROY LANDY, beloved husband of Florence Landy, of Lethbridge, passed away at home on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife, Roy is survived by his children: Kim (Mark) McCarthy of Lethbridge, Darren (Kimberly) Landy of Armstrong, BC, and Shauna (Craig) Kinston of Coaldale; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lawrence (Donna) Landy, sister Gladys (Steve) Smetany and families.
Roy was predeceased by his brother Varge Landy.

1942 – 2019
Dennis Douglas Pickerell, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Friday, November 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Fran Pickerell. Together they had four children Trevor (Lori) Pickerell of Taber, Tod (Hollis) Pickerell of Taber, Wade (Janna) Pickerell of Altario and Denise (Greg) Franke of Taber; seven grandchildren Chad (Fidah), Robin (Blair), Jackson, Tucker (Jaylene), Toni (Cole), Jillian (Broc) and Jaclyn. Also left to remember Dennis are his siblings Sydney (Janice) Pickerell, Peggy (Mark) Pickerell, Shelley Schmidt and their families; Fran’s siblings Bud Berntson, Ellen (Downey) McGladdery, Glenn (Sharon) Berntson, Marj Nyeste, Merle (Jim) Ramsfield and Dennis (Mo) Berntson.
He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Helen Pickerell; father and mother-in-law Art and Jenny Berntson; brothers-in-law Dave, Eric and Butch Berntson, George Nyeste.
Dennis was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan in April of 1942 to Helen and Gordon Pickerell. He married Fran Berntson in 1963. They moved to Taber in 1966 and had three sons and a daughter. Dennis had many careers and business ventures but his passion was irrigation. In fact, he was instrumental in bringing pipe irrigation to southern Alberta. Dennis remained in the irrigation business until days before his passing.
He loved attending the many events in which his grandchildren participated. Dennis and Fran spent hours together watching the Blue Jays and of course, every curling game there was. He was well known in the community and beyond and was known for his kind and gentle heart and giving nature. For the past several years Dennis sat on the executive of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20 and his responsibilities included care of the Legion Park. He took immense pride and satisfaction in the beauty of the park.
