KLASSEN
VERNA KLASSEN, beloved wife of Kevin Klassen of Coaldale, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the age of 49 years.
Besides her loving husband Kevin, Verna was survived by her children: Kristine, Meagan (Zach), Keagan and Kayla (Ian); parents, Stan (Ruby) Yanke and Valerie (Ken) Sinclair; brother, Clifford (Jenny) Yanke; and eight grandchildren: Colten, Saveya, Mahala, Kylan, Braelynn, Charolette, Rylee and Mason.
Verna was born on March 13, 1970 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Stan and Valerie. Who later became an older sister to little brother Clifford. Verna spent her early childhood growing up on a homestead near Manyberries, Alberta. Verna is remembered by many for her outgoing, friendly personality. She had an outstanding amount of love for her four fur babies: Tiah, Phoenix, Diesel and Tukker, who were her pride and joy. Verna had a passion for camping, dragon boat racing, riding her motor bike, golfing & spending time with family/friends. Her persona will linger in the hearts of all who knew her.

Lisa Labuhn
1928 – 2020
MRS. LISA LABUHN, beloved wife of the late Mr. Victor Labuhn, passed away peacefully at the Intercare Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta, on February 15, 2020, at the age of 91 years. Lisa was born on October 3, 1928 in Vardeilsen, Germany; she was raised and educated in Rengershausen, Germany. In 1944, Lisa met her future husband, Victor, when he emigrated to Germany. In 1951 the Labuhn Family immigrated to Calgary. In 1952, Lisa joined Victor, in Calgary, where they were married. In 1956, they moved to Lethbridge where Lisa resided until shortly before the time of her passing. Lisa was a loving wife, mother, and Oma. She loved family and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a much-loved Oma. During the time that she and Victor built their home and acreage east of Lethbridge, Lisa was an avid gardener. She enjoyed her friends and they stayed extremely active with regular coffee and lunch visits. Lisa will be remembered, for her great smile and joyful laughter. Lisa was a tremendous baker and cook. One of her greatest joys was to have friends and family over for a meal. Every meal started with a prayer and no one ever left hungry. Lisa and Victor enjoyed travelling and made many trips to Hawaii. Even after Victor’s passing, she continued to enjoy bus trips with friends and travelling with family. Lisa took great joy in attending Church and the fellowship of her Bible study group. At her Condo complex she never missed the garage parties. Lisa is survived by her brother, Dietmar (Ingrid) Heise of Rengershausen, Germany; her daughter, Karin (Tom) Seaman, of Airdrie; her sons, Harvey Labuhn (Jocelyn Dimm) of Lethbridge, Roland Labuhn (Dina Radinskaia) of Calgary; four grandchildren, Lisa (Adam) Zandvliet of Airdrie, Michael Seaman (Lindsey Sales), Kyle Labuhn and Jake Labuhn of Calgary; four great grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Brady and Mila; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Harwardt of Victoria, and Ilse Labuhn of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Willi and Hilde Heise; infant daughter, Rita; brother Hilmar; sister Edith; and daughter in law Susan. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610– 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd West, Lethbridge, Alberta with Pastor Lee Loveridge officiating. NELSON
CRAIG NELSON, beloved husband of Sharla Nelson of Warner, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the age of 67 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Kyle) Pascuzzi and their son, Riley of Lethbridge and Sandy (Kyle) Mesic and their sons, Hunter and Jaxon of Lethbridge. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Winters of Milk River; his sister, Glenda Pytlarz of Lethbridge and his aunt, Helen Mackenzie of Lethbridge along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Luella Nelson; brother, Morris Nelson; father-in-law, Harold Winters and sister-in-law, Lavon Ellert.
Craig was born in Lethbridge, AB on October 6, 1952. He lived in a number of places including Conrad, AB, Fort St. John and Penticton, BC, Lethbridge and Fort Macleod, AB. In the mid 70’s he met and married Sharla and they moved to Brooks to work for Mortensen Farms. In 1977 they moved to Warner where Craig started with the Department of Highways (eventually privatized to Volker Stevin Contracting) and put in 36 years before retiring in 2013. Over the years he served on the Warner Volunteer Fire Department (25 years); as Director for Devil’s Coulee Cooperating Society; and Councillor for the Village of Warner. He loved hunting, camping and woodworking but motorcycling AND spoiling his grandsons were the passions in his life.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital for taking such good care of Craig and our family over the past few months.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the WARNER ELK’S HALL, 210-4th Ave., Warner, AB, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:00 P.M.

NEMECEK
On Saturday, February 15, 2020, Teresa passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 98 years.
Teresa was born in Velcice, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with her mother and sisters when she was 15. The family settled in the Picture Butte area, where her father was already waiting. Teresa married Paul Nemecek on February 7, 1938, and they farmed east of Picture Butte. Teresa’s life on the farm was one of hard work. From hoeing sugar beets to having a huge garden, she still found time to cook, bake and spend time with her family. Paul and Teresa retired from the farm and moved to Lethbridge in 1972, where she continued to grow a big garden in her backyard.
After Paul’s passing in 1975, Teresa remained in their home and enjoyed travelling with her sisters and friends. Until the age of 90, Teresa continued to drive, tend to a big garden and make cabbage and poppy-seed rolls. In 2012, she decided to move to Blackrock Terrace where she resided until her passing.
Teresa is survived by her son Vinko and daughter-in-law Gloria(Sosick); three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Darin and Andrea (Neely, Cohen, Chloe), Brent and Laurinda (Olivia, Sawyer, Emily) and Nicole and Darren (Finley, Calla). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Teresa was predeceased by her parents Tom and Gladys Hanzlik, husband Paul and granddaughter Danielle. She was also predeceased by sisters Annie(Eugene), Mary(Pete), Katy(Bill) and Destiny, and brother-in-law Martin(Betty).
The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to all the staff at Blackrock Terrace and 4C Chinook Regional Hospital, as well as to Dr.Kizuk, Dr.Grant and Dr.Walton.
Gratitude is also extended to Teresa’s special friend, Nadya Wasilenko.
A celebration of Teresa’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Trinity United Church in Picture Butte at 2:00pm with Pastor Glenda Wert officiating. A private family interment will precede the celebration of Teresa’s life.

ROSE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, FERNANDO ROSE, following a three month stay in the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 90 years.
Marito, Papa and Nonno was a devoted family man, and was ever present in the lives of his beloved wife Antonietta Rose who he met in 1961 and married in 1964. They were blessed with two children Tony (Camille) Rose and Francesca (Brent) Morris and four grandchildren Claire, Antonia, Zachary and Alexa who he adored dearly. Besides his loving wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Andy (Julie) Suriano, Frank (Maureen) Suriano, John (Irene) Suriano, Paolina Seitz (Garth Renyk), and numerous nephews and nieces. Papa was pre-deceased by his parents, Antonio and Francesca Rose, as well as six brothers and sisters-in-law: Pasquale (Luisa) Rose, Silvio Rose, Raffaele (Maria) Rose, Rubens (Nerina) Rose, Amerigo (Maria) Rose and Anibale Rose, father and mother-in-law Rocco and Gilda Suriano, brother-in-law Murray Seitz and cousin Alberto Iachetta.
Papa was born May 12, 1929 and grew up in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy. As a young man, he served in the Italian Army, regularly entertaining the troops playing his tuba. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and joined his brother in Kitimat, BC. In 1960, he moved to Lethbridge where he worked for Catelli for a short period of time before joining the staff at the City of Lethbridge Waterworks Department retiring in 1994. His co-workers affectionately called him Papa Rose, Fred, and Freddie.
Papa had a passion for sports; he loved watching the Italian sports channel. He was proud of his Italian heritage but grateful to be a Canadian citizen. He was a founding member of the Italian Canadian Centre where he and Antonietta rarely missed their monthly dinner and dance. Papa will always be remembered as a man of a few words, a family man who always had a smile on his face and love in his heart.
The family would like to thank the homecare staff and nurses Megan, Sam and Nicole C., Dr. Leam and the staff on Unit 5B at CRH, Deacon Frank Peta and Father Sal Ahumada as well as the family and friends for all the food and visits and the staff at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, on Thursday, February 20th, at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 A.M. with Father Albert Sayson celebrating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
