John Gergel

1925 – 2020

John Gergel, beloved husband of the late Jean Gergel, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge, Alberta on February 18, 2020 at the age of 94 years.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 24, 2020 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at 10:00 am prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

MARILYN GURNEY

1953 – 2020

MARILYN EHLERT GURNEY, age 66 years, of Magrath AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, on Thursday, February 20, 2020. The baby of 7 children, Marilyn was born in Lethbridge on July 8th, 1953 to Henry and Margaret (McBride) Ehlert. Marilyn is survived by 11 children: Aaron (Rosa), Tenille (Dan), Jamey (Tracey), Maegan, Hayley (Gary), Brandon, Kyle, Raymond, Ryan (Jillian), Tyler and Brian; Step-daughter: Crystal; Brothers: Richard (Karen) and Jim (Sharon); Sisters: Joanne (Ferrin) and Monte (Roger), and numerous grandchildren and family. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne, daughter Loren Brianne Harper, sister Kathryn Wilson, brother Robert “Buster” Ehlert, and both of her parents. Marilyn will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, vibrance, always putting others before herself, and always with a smile. Her tender spirit, loving heart, intelligence and wit will leave a lasting impact on so many. Marilyn’s world famous home cooking, including “mom’s buns” and her talent for crafting were just some of the many ways she was always caring for others. Winning at her weekly card nights with her siblings was something Marilyn always looked forward to. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her many children, family, friends and dachshunds.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garden Place Chapel, Magrath, Alberta on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family ONLY at the Church on Monday, February 24th from 7:00 to 8 p.m. Interment in the Magrath Cemetery.

Mrs. Marie Hicke of Lethbridge, previously of Regina, and beloved wife of the late Mr. Wenzel Hicke, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the age of 95 years.
