ICHIKAWA

Our family is saddened to announce the death of LORITA R. ICHIKAWA, wife of Akira and mother of Andrew David (Tahirih Rempel) and Maya Yurii (Marko Hilgersom), all of Lethbridge. Lorita died unexpectedly March 28 at the Chinook Regional Hospital. She was 79.

Lorita was predeceased by her son, Michael Tatsuya in 1976. Besides her husband and children, she also is survived by six grandchildren she doted on: Yuki, Asha and Akeo Ichikawa; and Sam, Lily and Seiji Hilgersom; a sister, Carmen Tillman, Seattle; and many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Seattle area. She was also predeceased by her parents, father Marcos Delma and mother Elvina (Goodmonson) Delma; and siblings Mack Jr., Dolores, David, Nadine and Valerie

Lorita was born June 29. 1940, in Seattle, WA. She was graduated from Garfield High School (Seattle) in 1958. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Washington in 1962 and her Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1968.

Lorita moved with Akira to Lethbridge in 1968 where he assumed an academic position at the new University of Lethbridge. With her education psychology background, Lorita began working at the old CPCD (Centre for Personal and Community Development) in 1978. CPCD was merged in 1983 into Lethbridge Family Services where she was executive director until 1990.

Thereafter, she was employed as a psychologist at Alberta Health Services (AHS) and was seconded as team coordinator, Taber Response Project, in 2001. In 2002, she was asked to be one of several directors for the Children’s Mental Health program in Edmonton through the Government of Alberta. She returned to Lethbridge and continued working with AHS until her retirement in 2005. During this period, she successfully overcame breast cancer. Also in 2005, she received her highly-valued Canadian citizenship.

Due to restrictions because of COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date. An announcement will be made when a date is set. The family requests no flowers or koden. Those wishing to make donations in her memory may do so to the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta, 470 40th St. S., Lethbridge AB T1J 3Z5 or a charity of their choice.

Dragutin Petrovic

Dec. 15, 1931 – March 23, 2020

Dragutin (Danny) Petrovic, born December 15, 1931 in Bregovina, Serbia, passed away March 23, 2020 in Lethbridge Alberta at the age of 88. Danny is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leposava, son Mile (Bonnie) Petrovic, brother Phillip (Annette) Petrovic, sister Miloslavka (Milan) Radenkovic, grandsons Shaun Petrovic and Cody (Chels) Petrovic as well as great grandchildren, Sasha, Danika and Ashtyn.

Dragutin was predeceased by his father, Dragisa Petrovic, his mother, Jeilica Petrovic (nee Stamenkovic) and sister Desanka Llic (nee Petrovic).

Following his retirement from Lethbridge Iron Works, he enjoyed taking long walks around the city and working in the vegetable and flower gardens, he was so proud of, with his wife by his side.

A Private Family Graveside was held at Mountain View Cemetery.

QUICKENDEN

QUICKENDEN, BARBARA JENNIFER, beloved daughter of Wally & Sharon Quickenden, passed away in Raymond, Alberta on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the age of 48 years.

Barbie is survived by her siblings; Margaret (Alan) Fitzpatrick, Victor (Tracy) Quickenden and their families.

Barbara loved everyone, especially the ones in the 4th Ward. She had no bad feelings towards anyone. A special thanks to Shelley Marr whom Barbie dearly loved, who for 20 years as Barbie’s caregiver helped keep her out of harms way.

Gloria Tollenaar

1951 – 2020

Gloria Tollenaar of Milk River, beloved partner of Tony Solomon, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at the age of 68 years. Besides her loving partner Tony, Gloria is survived by her brothers Len, Larry and Lon; sisters Bernadette and Sharon. She is predeceased by her parents Claude and Wanda and sister Karen. A private Celebration of Gloria’s Life will take place at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.

GARY TOWES

In loving memory of Gary Towes who went home to Jesus on March 21, 2020.

He passed away suddenly of a stroke at the age of 65.

Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

He leaves behind his wife, Sandra Buhler and his parents Edward and Doreen Towes.
