Bonnie McIntyre

1954 – 2021

Even the youths shall faint

and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with

wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31

Bonnie Marie McIntyre (Sherman) of Nobleford, was called home to heaven peacefully, after a lengthy illness at Chinook Regional Hospital on March 18, 2021 at the age of 66.

Bonnie was born in Claresholm, AB to Bill and Eleanor Sherman and was raised on the family ranch with her younger brother Jim. She was especially fond of cats, which resulted in having a number of them as pets over her lifetime. She attended school from grade 1 through grade 12 in Claresholm. After graduating, Bonnie attended SAIT in Calgary and took drafting.

After completing her drafting courses, she worked for Hudson Bay Oil company for a short time. She married Wayne McIntyre from Barons in March 1975. Soon after, Bonnie and Wayne moved to the family farm west of Barons where they raised their two boys, Clark and Grant.

Bonnie was elected to the Barons School Board as a trustee when Clark and Grant attended grade school in Barons and served for a number of years. There were many family trips to Westcastle and Fernie for ski trips during the winter, and trips to the Claresholm rifle range, where Bonnie was a proficient marksman. She won a number of rifle and pistol competitions over the years, even beating out her Father Bill who taught her how to shoot. Besides being a full-time mom and farm wife, many days were spent running machinery, picking up parts in town, making lunches and bringing meals to the field during seeding and harvest. Bonnie worked part time for Canada Post in Barons eventually moving to full time as the Postmaster. She retired in 2016 with over 25 years of service. Many family trips were taken to the US for shopping, holidays and to visit extended family. Bonnie was a talented artist and liked to sketch in pencil, charcoal and paint as well. She especially enjoyed doing Bob Ross paintings with her granddaughters. She trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour which was evident in her life. She was always smiling, caring and willing to help others. There were many lifelong friendships made as a result of fellowship at Faith Community Baptist Church in Claresholm and Lethbridge Gospel Assembly in Lethbridge.

Bonnie is survived by former husband Wayne McIntyre of Barons; parents Bill and Eleanor Sherman of Claresholm; sons Clark (Darlene) McIntyre of Nobleford and Grant (Cheryl) McIntyre of Lethbridge; grandchildren Hannah, Sarah, Jeremiah, William and Brooke; sister in-law Sharon (James) Sherman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was predeceased by her brother James Lloyd Sherman, and first granddaughter Rebekah Kathleen McIntyre.

A private family service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel with Jesse Wipf officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Due to gathering restrictions the services will be for immediate invited family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse or the Jack Ady Cancer Centre.
