Berta Beck

1931 – 2021

Mrs. Berta Beck of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ernest Beck, passed away at Legacy Lodge, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the age of 90 years.

Berta will be privately remembered by her loving family and friends.

HEETEBRIJ

RICK HEETEBRIJ at the age of 72 was taken home to the Lord moments after his family said their goodbyes, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday April 16, 2021 from complications of COVID.

Public Visitation with be held from 11A.M. to 12P.M at the Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 1:00 P.M with Reverend John Van Eyk officiating. The service will be lived streamed and may be accessed via Rick’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

MANY CHIEF

MARY ROSE MANY CHIEF passed away on March 26th, 2021 in Vancouver, BC at the age of 79 years. A Visitation will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, April 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Another viewing will take place on Saturday, April 24th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm with a Family Service to follow at 12:00 pm. (Due to COVID-19 – A Total of 20 people will be allowed in the building.)

Margaret Michaelis

1930 – 2021

Mrs. Margaret Michaelis of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Helmar Michaelis, passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the age of 90 years.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Helmar Michaelis; three brothers Martin Bennett, John Bennett, and Leonard Bennett; two sisters Hazel Bohnet and Doris Heitman.

She is survived by her four children Marvin (Donna) of Cochrane, Norm (Lil) of Airdrie, Dolores (Dennis) Ellert of Milk River and Bert (Debbie) or Lethbridge; sisters Katherine Yanke and Lillian Degenstein; sister in laws Marlene Bennett, Doreen Bennett and Mabel Michaelis. Margaret is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Family was very important to Margaret and the last year with the Covid pandemic was very hard on her not be able to see everyone.

Margaret was born on December 29, 1930 in Orion, Alberta. She married her loving husband Helmar Michaelis on September 20, 1950. They farmed in the Wilson Siding area while living in the Lethbridge area. Most of the time on an acreage S.E. of Lethbridge, Margaret worked at Hoyt’s Hardware in Lethbridge from 1968 to 1979. In 1980 they moved from the acreage into west Lethbridge where they lived until moving to Grandview Seniors Condominium in 1993. Margaret then moved to Martha’s house in 2019. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, and playing cards.

The family would like to thank the doctors’ nurses and staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michael’s Palliative care unit for all their care and compassion during mom’s illness.

A private family Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 24, 2021. The family invites those who wish to watch the service via livestream at http://www.mbfunerals.com and scrolling to the bottom of Margaret’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Daniel Perry

1933 – 2021

Daniel Walter Perry of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Shirley Florence Perry passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on the morning of April 18, 2021 at the age of 87 years.

Daniel grew up in Nottingham, England, the son of a third- generation coal miner. After completing his schooling, he also started a career in mining. Dan was always very athletic and involved in many sports in his younger years not only the traditional ones like football and cricket, but he was also always an avid player and fan of tennis, ice hockey and baseball.

A chance meeting set up by the Captain of the Ice Hockey team lead him to Shirley Florence Day the love of his life. After their marriage, the happy couple settled into Nottingham where they started a family. Son’s Wayne Daniel and Dale Martin were both born in Nottingham where they lived until the kids started school.

Dan was always interested in Canada and when he had the opportunity to immigrate, the family went along for the adventure. Settling first in Grande Cache, Alberta where their sons finished high school and married.

Later Dan and Shirley who always enjoyed warm weather, gardening and outdoor activities moved to Lethbridge where they retired and stayed for their later years with many friends.

Throughout his days he has had a strong belief in giving back to the community, he did this by volunteering at the local hospitals, with minor-sports, working with the handicapped, and helping wherever he could. He was always willing to help!

Dan continued to always be incredibly involved in sports both playing and watching. One of his crowning sporting achievement was representing Alberta in tennis in the Canada Senior games, he was also an avid fan of the Oilers and Blue Jays.

Dan is survived by his two sons, Wayne and his wife Beverly, Dale and his wife Deborah, five grandchildren, Loni, Ashley (Tyson), Megan, Candice (Marc), Steven (Melissa) and four great-grandchildren. Three Sisters, Wendy Dolan of Lincoln, England, Sheila Simpson of Hucknall, England, Joan Burrows of Lincoln, England and sister in-law Janet (Brian) Hunt of England, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Besides his loving wife Shirley, he was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Ada of Nottingham England, sisters Sandra & Doreen, sisters-in-law Pamela Burr (Tony), brother-in-law Martin Day.
