BOUGEROLLE

VALERIE BOUGEROLLE passed away peacefully at the age of 75 in her home in Lethbridge on April 27th, 2021.

Born Valerie Lunn in Pincher Creek, Alberta, she settled in Lethbridge in 1975, working at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her son Steve Bougerolle, step-son Rick King and brother Murray Lunn.

She is predeceased by her husband, William King, brother Douglas Lunn and ex-husband James Bougerolle as well as her parents Edward and Margaret Lunn.

Valerie will be remembered for her outgoing and sociable nature, and her loyalty to her many friends and family.

She enjoyed travel and had visited Europe, Mexico, China and Indonesia as well as countless road trips around Alberta, BC and the northwest US.

In later years, her love of animals became a bigger part of her life; she raised a family of cockatiels and several dogs, as well as taking a keen interest in the local wildlife.

At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

THOMAS “TOM” COTIE passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, at the age of 77 years. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, MONA JUNE COTIE, who passed away on April 12, 2021, also at the Chinook Regional Hospital, at the age of 75 years.

Erna Dueck

1951 – 2021 

Erna Dueck, beloved wife of 50 years to Doug Dueck, age 69, passed away on May 5, 2021 in Lethbridge, Alberta.  Erna is survived by her children, Jenn (Irv) Dick, Jo (Derrick) Laychuk, and Trav (Mel) Dueck, as well as her grandchildren: Kierra, Kaleb, Christian, Ethan, Rennie, Austin and Kailee.  She is also survived by her siblings and siblings-in-law: Verner (Eleanore) Friesen, Erv (Dorothy) Friesen, Esther Friesen, Brenda (Tom) Metcalfe, Del (Betty) Dueck, and Bonnie (Arnie Bartel) Dueck.  She was predeceased by her parents, Jake and Elsie Friesen, her step-father Henry Wall, and her two brothers, John and Melvin Friesen. As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19 and the government recommendations, a private funeral service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. Due to the fact that in person attendance at the service is limited and by invitation only, those who wish to view the service may do so by visiting Erna’s obituary page on our website and clicking on the livestream link that will be available at 1:45 P.M. on Monday, May 10, 2021. Johannes “John” Husch

February 13, 1935 – May 4, 2021

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and Opa, Johannes “John” Husch at the age of 86 years. John was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

John was born on February 13, 1935 in Neuenkirchen, Germany. John along with his parents and siblings immigrated to Canada in 1953 settling in Southern Alberta. He met his first wife Antonia “Toni” Van den Hengel and they shared 34 years together until her passing in 1991.

After moving to Canada, John was involved in the German Canadian Club from its inception, where he met many of his lifelong friends. During this time, he was also involved in soccer with the Bombers and Golden West Bombers both as a player and a coach, winning the Provincial championship in 1958. John continued to coach soccer for many years for both youth and adult teams. In 1970-71 the German Canadian Male Choir was formed and continued for over 30 years, traveling throughout Western Canada, performing and competing with great success. For many years throughout his life, the dancing, dinners and celebrations at the German Club were very much a major part of John’s life. Singing at home or with the choir always brought joy for him and his listeners. Family and friends were precious to John. The friends he made when he first came to Canada were lifelong. This group of friends stayed together in all the changes throughout the years. The German Canadian Club was the base as they went from soccer, to performing in the choir, to golf.

After the passing of John’s wife Toni, he made many trips back to Germany, and that is where he met his wife Lissy. They were married in Germany in 1997 and just celebrated their 24th anniversary. John and Lissy had a very active social life together. For many years they wintered in California, early spring was spent in Germany and John was always back home in the spring for the start of the golf season.

Their love of the outdoors had them traveling in their motorhome venturing out to the new golf courses wherever they went.

John is survived by his wife Anneliese “Lissy”; children Mary Ann (Gord) Mirkovich, Rosie MacLean, Debi (Darryl) McGrath, Jeff (Kathy) Husch; sisters Maria (John) Lothian, Freida (Bob) Sanford; Grandchildren Shawn Mirkovich, Nikki Bengry, Austin McGrath, Katie Maclean, Layla Husch; great grandchildren Lukas, Jackson, and Isabella, as well as many relatives in Canada and Germany.

He was predeceased by his wife Antonia “Toni” Husch; parents Peter and Freida Husch; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Wilma Husch; son in law Pat Maclean.

John lived his life to the fullest enjoying everyday. He worked hard, danced harder, sang like an angel, golfed like a pro and loved with his whole heart.

A private family Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. As per John’s wishes, a celebration of his life will take place “when Covid is over”.

TOM T KOSAKA, beloved husband of Katsuko Kosaka, passed away in Calgary on May 6, 2021 at the age of 83 years.

Byron Koskewich

1959 – 2021

Byron George Koskewich of Del Bonita, beloved husband of Sherri (Letkeman), passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

Byron was born in Magrath and grew up on the family farm near Del Bonita. His parents thought he was attending high school in Magrath when he was actually commuting to work at General Farm Supplies in Lethbridge to begin a career as an agriculture mechanic. He attended Olds College and worked as a mechanic at farm implement dealerships. He soon returned to the family farm, where he worked hard on seeding, harvesting, maintaining equipment, and supporting his parents purebred Braunvieh cattle business.

Byron took great pleasure in engine building, gardening, fishing, camping, and quadding. He passed on many skills to his children, grandchildren, and others. He was a gentle teacher of his knowledge and was willing to lend a helping hand to all. Byron was taken from us far too soon at age 62 after enduring a short battle with cancer.

Besides his loving wife Sherri, Byron is survived by his mother Verna (George d. 2005); daughter Amanda (Cody) Michaelis, their children Dawson and Brady; his son Benjamin and his children Camryn, Jayden and Nevaeh, two sisters Dianne (Ken) Mertz and Judy Westcott; brother-in-law Greg Letkeman and sister-in-law Jocelyn Fortier; seven nieces (predeceased by two) and five nephews (predeceased by one) and their families, as well as three aunts and six cousins.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapel. LINDA LOU VERONICA

CAMPANIAN MYDLAND

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Linda Lou Veronica Campanian Mydland. After a brave fight with leukemia Linda slipped away quietly surrounded by her loving family on May 2, 2021.

Linda was born in Great Falls on August 24, 1962 to Leo and Elinor Campanian. She was the youngest of four children. Linda grew up in the close community of Sweetgrass sharing the trials and joys of life with her brothers, sister, nieces, and other family as well as many friends and neighbors. She attended grade school in Sweetgrass and graduated from North Toole County High School in Sunburst. Linda’s love for the people of this community stayed with her throughout her life and she willingly shared her time with them.

Following High School, Linda attended Kinsman Business University where she received a degree in Fashion Merchandising. Fashion remained an important part of her life. She always presented herself with class and loved shopping for a bargain.

She also attended Carroll College for Business Administration.

Linda began her career in international trade and logistics in 1989, in 1994 she obtained her individual Customs Broker License and later also became a Certified Customs Specialist. She joined A.N. Deringer as an employee in 1994 where she proudly served until her passing. She was an integral part of their leadership team serving as their Western District Manager. Throughout Deringer she was known for her integrity, her strong sense of customer service, and her unfailing dedication. Linda spoke highly of the people at Deringer. She genuinely cared and valued the friendships she made within the company and among her clients. She will be greatly missed.

Linda was so proud to be Mrs. Mydland. She married the love of her life, David Mydland, on July 24, 2001. They were married at the family cottage in Waterton, AB. A place that was dear to Linda’s heart throughout her life. She loved spending time there with her beloved Uncle Rome Meisser and special cousin, Judy Wright.

As both Linda and Dave’s careers required travel and time away, they cherished their time together at home in Shelby. They also cherished the summers and holidays when Dave’s boys, Darin and Dillon, were with them. Linda loved them, worried over them, and was always so proud of their accomplishments. They became her boys.

Linda was a caregiver: caring for her much-loved mother-in-law, Janiece Mydland, and her brother, Howard Campanian, at the end of their lives.

She loved to give gifts. Especially the elegant and sparkling jewelry that her sister, Carmella, created and Linda marketed. She was so proud of Carmella and enjoyed sharing these creations. I’m sure that everyone who knew Linda has been a recipient of a gift.

Linda also loved to play cards and she often formed close friendships with elderly people sharing time with them playing cards, visiting, and bringing a gift.

Linda’s family, especially her siblings, where always front and center in her life. She was in contact with them almost every day and strongly took to heart each of their joys and sorrows. Over the years she became very close to her brother-in-law, Lew Grill, and in recent years she happily welcomed and has loved Danny’s girlfriend, Rachel Kleinert.

Through the long months of cancer treatment Linda formed many new friendships with her doctors and the nurses. She often expressed her high regard for them and mentioned how caring and loving they were to her. She remembered their names and always referred to them by name.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elinor Campanian; her brothers, Leo John, Frank, Howard, and Bob Campanian; and her sisters, Lucia Nelson and Margaret (Pug) Michaels.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; stepsons, Darin (Tonya) and Dillon (Alyssa) Mydland; sister, Carmella Campanian-Grill (Lewis Grill); brother, Danny Campanian (Rachel Kleinert); nieces, Francis Campanian, Sandy Campanian, Shirley Nelson, Donna Ray Winchell and Jasmine Anderson; nephews, Jim Michaels, Colter Campanian, Nathan Grill, and Adam Grill; as well as a loving extended family and countless friends.

During Linda’s illness she realized the importance of blood and platelet donations. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider giving the gift of life in her honor. Donations can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

OSTERMAN

Beatrice Mary (Wrobel) Osterman has gone to the Lord. Born in Nov. 16, 1928 Regina Saskatchewan, passing May 3, 2021 Taber Alberta. She will be greeted by her mother Muriel (Stapleton) Paul Van Den Bosch – Fred Wrobel, her daughter Muriel Anne Piea and son James Peter Piea. Predeceased by husbands John Piea and Herman Osterman. Also to greet her are brothers Roy and Ray (Margaret) Wrobel, brother-in-laws Larry Kratt Sr. and Leo Hnetka. She leaves her son John (Carol) Piea, daughters Beatrice (Melvin) Kunz and Susie (Dinzel) Phillips, sister Marjorie, their families, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great -great grandchild.

Mom pulled her share of the yoke of life. She could see what needed to be done and did it. Whether at her church or lodge (her home), Mom loved the soil. She didn’t stir the pot, she dumped it, blended, enriched and filled it. The eternal garden is where you will find her toiling. You will hear her before you see her, for she will be singing and whistling.

Private viewing will take place Saturday, May 8, 2021 with grave side service this summer.

1923 – Peter Roth – 2021

Peter Paul Roth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the age of 97, beloved husband of the late Jillane Roth of Bow Island. He leaves to cherish his memory seven children. Dewane (Katie) of Lethbridge and their daughter, Debbie; Brian Roth (Deb Wood) of Sooke, B.C, their son, Jonah; Bernadette (Greg) Wehlage of Milk River and their children, Stephanie (Leslie) Stitt, Jason (Julie) Wehlage, Kevin (Elisa D’Andrea) Wehlage; Jerome (Michelle) of Red Deer and their children, Ian (Catherine Guo) Roth, Erica (Sean Clynch) Roth, Amelia Roth; Sandra Rosebrugh of Medicine Hat and her son, Carson; Monica (Fraser) Stewart of Castle Mountain and Regina (Theo) Krooshoop of Lethbridge and their children Jennifer Krooshoop and Cody (Heather) Krooshoop; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Roth of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law, John Holton of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law Alex Jozsa of Lethbridge; and brother-in-law, Ed Pardoski of Taber and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jillane of 51 years; their infant daughter, Sandra; his parents and all nine of his brothers and sisters. Peter was born on October 19, 1923 on the family farm near Bow Island. He attended the Selz school. He started farming on his own in 1947. After harvest, he, along with a few neighbors, went to Picture Butte to work at the Sugar Factory. While in Picture Butte, he met Jillane Jozsa, who was teaching there at the time. They were married on July 10, 1951. All of their children were born while they lived on the farm in the Conquerville area. Peter loved to spend time with his family and especially looked forward to their visits. Lately many of them were video chats. But he was able to keep in touch with his family. He enjoyed farming, playing crib and played any chance he got, even on his last day. He usually won more games than he lost. Peter was a member of the Conquerville Lions and long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Attending mass was very important to him and he would listen to it daily. Peter’s family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Bow Island Lodge and Bow Island Hospital for the loving attention that he received during his stay with them. You went above and beyond with your care. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Bow Island on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Wojciech Jarzecki celebrant. William (Bill) F. Rosebrugh

1957 – 2021

Bill Rosebrugh of Bow Island, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on April 27th, 2021 at in the Calgary Foothills Hospital at the age of 64 years, loving father of Carson of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.

He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Linda (Robert), Bob (Stephanie), Kathy, Vince and Sue (Jim); his former spouse, Sandra; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Lloyd Rosebrugh of St. George, Ontario.

At an early age, Bill moved to Alberta where farming was the love of his life. He worked with Jack Bastiaansen prior to owning his own pig farm. He was employed by SMRID for 15 years, then Canadian Pacific Railway until his retirement. Over the years, Bill enjoyed helping his friend Theo (Regina) on their farm. His cabin at the lake, that he shared with Linda, was his favourite spot where he spent a lot of time fishing. A funeral service will be held at a later.
