PETA

1922-2021

ANNE PETA, born May 24, 1922, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on May 28, 2021, at the age of 99 years.

Anne was born in Hungary, and immigrated to Canada at the age of 12. She lived in East Coulee where her father was a miner. They had boarders in their home, and that is how she met her husband Frank, whom she was married to for 63 years. They were blest with their first son, Franklin, in 1942, and on October 14, 1953, their second son Michael, who died in infancy. Anne (better known as Nagymama) was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to spend time in her kitchen making her famous mini cabbage rolls (baby finger size), bread, doughnuts and many other Hungarian traditional foods. Her family was her special focus, especially her grandchildren, with whom she always shared her ice cream treats with.

She is survived by her loving son Franklin (Eileen) and their three children; Micheal (Dawn) Peta of Lethbridge, Barbara (Recee) Dorigatti of Red Deer, and Marianne Peta of Calgary. Mom’s great-grandchildren Conner (Vici) Peta of Edmonton, Luke Peta of Lethbridge, Ashlyn Peta of Lethbridge, Ava Nakonechny of Calgary, Ayden and Ella Dorigatti of Red Deer, Jasmin (Bryce) Chernecki of Calgary, and Jared Gaerhing of Coaldale. and great great-grandchildren Elise and Evony from Calgary.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Frank (2004), her parents, Anna and Charles Szakacs, along with her brother Istvan (Steve) Szakacs.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to the Garden View staff, where she resided a number of years, who were so wonderful to mom every day. Thank you Thank you!! Also to Lethbridge Home Care (Especially Gloria) as well as Chinook Respiratory and 4C at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 5th and live-streamed from St. Basil’s Church with Father Kevin Tumback at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Anne, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o All Saints Parish, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1K 0P4

PICKETT

It is with great sadness we mark the passing of FLOYD DORVIN PICKETT to heaven. Originally a proud and long time farmer from the big-bend area near Taber, Floyd retired with Dorothy in Hillcrest. Floyd was a man who never lost his youthful exuberance for life – even at 95. He laughed easily and was always up for mischief. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed time with family and friends, especially if it was on the water with a fishing rod in his hand. Floyd was deeply wise, yet humble, and possessed a charismatic charm that attracted people and made them feel at home in his presence. He was a social butterfly who never turned down a cup of coffee with at least 4 spoonfuls of sugar, or the opportunity to dance with the ladies. We will miss him greatly, but are comforted knowing that Floyd finally has gotten his wish to be with Dorothy. Many thanks to the angels (staff) at Vista- Village in Pincher Creek.

Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
