Born in Michel, British Columbia on November 13, 1934, he was the youngest child of Michael and Mary Balint. As a child he was raised in a small mining community. It was there that his love of people and the foundations of traditions and cultures began. At 21 years old he moved to Lethbridge and lived with his sister Mary. He began his career as a Lethbridge City Police Officer. During his 35-year career he made many lasting friendships. He met the love of his life; Jackie and they moved to Coaldale to raise their family. After Jackie’s passing, Michael continued to create a home full of hospitality, love, laughter and the traditions he was raised with. His strong, dedicated personality was what drew people to him.

Michael enjoyed being a member of the Hockey Hounds. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends as well as watching baseball and hockey.
