BAKER
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Les Baker on Sunday February 13, 2022 at the age of 71. Les was born on January 21, 1951 to Clare and Gloria Baker. He was survived by his wife Judi Baker and his children Shiloh, Seth (Dianne), and Jenessa. Les adored his grandsons Keaton, Jaxon, Tanner, Lex, Nate, Luke, and Scott.
Les grew up in British Columbia with a loving and close-knit family. He had a beautiful musical talent, especially with the trumpet. He was asked to join a band with Herb Bishop and fell in love with Judi, Herb’s daughter. Les started going to church with Judi, was baptized and married Judi in 1977. The family decided to move to Alberta in 1982, where Les worked with the Bishop Family business in oil manufacturing and sales. Les loved fishing. Each time he was told he was having another grandson, he’d say, “I am going to need a bigger fishing boat!” He loved the outdoors and was a Master Scout, tennis player, and football enthusiast. Les leaves a big hole in many hearts and will be missed and remembered by many.

STILL, HERBERT “Bert” S.
The family of Herbert ‘Bert” Still is sad to announce his passing on February 13, 2022 at the age of 93 years. Bert was born on September 29, 1928 in Raymond, Alberta to Herbert and Annie Still.
Bert was raised in Raymond and attended school there until the eighth grade, from there he worked on different ranches in the area and that is how he met his wife, Marie Hately. They were married for 64 years when Marie passed in 2015. Together they raised six children; Phill, Ken, Kieth, Carol, Brian and Gail. From those six children they produced 28 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Throughout Bert’s life he had numerous jobs from driving truck, moving horses and running heavy equipment but his love for livestock always brought him back to work on the farm and ranches where he was most happy working alongside his wife Marie.
When he retired from Nelson Family Ranches to their acreage east of Stirling, it was quite often he would be called for his opinion on livestock problems. He loved driving a team of horses and at his death he still owned a team. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Bert’s saying: “Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.”
Friends may meet with the family at the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stirling Chapel, Stirling, Alberta.
