JOSEPH “JOE” REX ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN, passed away on June 19, 2022 in Stand Off, AB at the age of 82 years. A Wake Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Sunday, July 3 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will continue at Senator Gladstone Hall on Monday, July 4 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Levern, AB.

FALK
WALTER FALK, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 83 years.
He leaves behind his wife Elvera, daughter Megan Falk of Calgary, son Christopher (Veronica) Falk of Calgary, cherished grandchildren Tim and Violet Falk, and nieces Jackie Martens (George Lawrence), Bonnie (Derek) Kolbeck, sister-in-law Leona Guthrie and family.
He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Mary Falk, sister Ruth Martens and brother-in-law Eric Martens.
Walter was born in Dundurn, SK on December 11, 1938. At age 14 he discovered the piano that became his lifelong passion. He followed a career in education and taught many years in various school systems. His other interests included reading books and catching up with the news. He enjoyed his retirement years RVing across North America in the summer and snowbirding in the winter. Also, travels to England, Europe and China were highlights in his life.
Walter was a man of Christian faith and the Celebration of His Life will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614, 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Mark Archibald officiating. The Service will be livestreamed and available to view via Walter’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

GILLERT, WILLIAM “Morgan”
June 23, 1982-Dec 29, 2021
Morgan (Mo) passed away suddenly in Lethbridge, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the age of 39 years.
He is deeply missed by parents, Marianne Craig-Gillert, and Kyle Gillert (Sandra), siblings James Gillert (Aleigha), Kyra Svrcek (Steven) and Andrew Langill (Cass), stepbrother Christian Laychuk, his former fiancée, Ashley Pierrard, his cat Perro, and many friends and relatives.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Dorothy and Osborne Craig, Helen Gillert (Fred Reimer) and Laurence Gillert (Pearl Schuller), his uncles Cliff Gillert, Bob Yates and Ivan Poty, and nearly father-in-law, Richard Kane.
Cremation services were kindly provided by the wonderful staff at the Cornerstone Funeral Home in Lethbridge.
A headstone in his memory has been placed with his Grandma Helen and Uncle Cliff at the White Fox Cemetery in Saskatchewan.
A Celebration of Mo’s Life will be held at the JOHN MARTIN RECREATION SHELTER (Pavan Park, Lethbridge), on Saturday, June 25th at 12:00 P.M. with a BBQ lunch and an afternoon of loving remembrance to follow. Doreen Hoffman
1929 – 2022
It is with the greatest love but deep sadness that the family of Doreen Marie (Kane) Hoffman announce her peaceful passing on June 11, 2022, at the age of 93 years.
Doreen was born in April, 1929 and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. She was always gracious and hospitable and helped anyone in need, family and strangers alike. She was an active member of the Catholic Church, the CWL, Girl Guides and trained to provided palliative support care to others. Doreen will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Geralyn L’Heureux (Guy) of Magrath, son Brent of Lethbridge, son Mark (Debra) of Calgary, grandchildren Landon, Dawn-Marie L’Heureux, Deserie L’Heureux (Shawn), Dallan L’Heureux (Rachael), great grandchildren Cameron, Eli , Tayvis, Brayden, Logan, Makayla, Nathan and Maddison as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her loving husband Donald, Doreen was predeceased by her parents John and Grace Kane, brothers Jack, Jimmie, Bill, Chuck, Hughie, Danny, Ronnie, and Terry; sisters Gracie and Molly. Doreen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sibling and aunt.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dahl, Dr. Singh, to all the staff at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge and the Diamond Willow Lodge in Magrath, for the excellent care as Doreen journeyed through Alzheimer’s.

MACPHAIL
MacPhail, Norman R, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, with his wife Sheila Ferguson by his side, after a courageous journey with cancer.
Norm is survived by his loving wife Sheila Ferguson, sons Sean (Loni) and David (Teresa), stepchildren Iain Ferguson and Skye (Richard) Desjardin. Grandchildren Marina, Egan, and Katelyn.
Born in North York, Ontario, Norm was the 3rd son of Andrew and Gladys MacPhail. As a young man, he moved west to BC, working in areas near Kamloops and Tumbler Ridge. He finally settled in the Wrentham area.
Norm’s working career focused mainly on the Agricultural community, enjoying the interaction within the farming community through service at Hi-Way Service, New Holland, John Deere, and Taber Diesel. Norm’s had a passion for things on 2 or 4 wheels, be it NASCAR, Sprint Cars, and especially his Harley-Davidson. Norm volunteered his time through several Organizations, including Ducks Unlimited, Lethbridge Fish and Game, and especially those affiliated with the Motorcycle community.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Mountain View Cemetery.
In honour of his memory, a Memorial Ride will take place immediately after the Graveside inurnment. Followed at 3:00 p.m., a Reception, and Celebration of Life at the Lethbridge Fish & Game Hut, 9 Ave & 10 St S. Rev. Dewald Delport, officiating.
MALMAS
Ronald “Jack” Malmas, beloved husband of Shirley Malmas, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the age of 82 years.
Jack was born in Lacombe, Alberta to Jack and Rita Malmas. He had fond memories growing up in farming communities, fishing, hunting and spending summers with his grandparents. He and his younger brother, Reg, were always engaging in shenanigans and were lucky to survive their fascination with guns and explosives. Their older sister, Joan, could only shake her head and hope for the best!
Jack moved out around the age of 15 and moved up north to start his first job on a seismic crew as a “jug hustler.” He worked on a variety of construction projects over the years and operated every piece of heavy equipment ever manufactured. He also worked as a mental health aid in Ponoka for a few years. He started his mining career in Fort McMurray in 1966/67, moving on to Pine Point in 1968 before moving to Sparwood to work for Kaiser Resources in 1970. He married Shirley in 1971 and they called Sparwood home as Jack continued his mining career through multiple mine owners until his retirement in 1999. Jack and Shirley retired to Lethbridge where they spent the last 22 years living at Grandview Village.
Jack is fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Shirley, and his children Troy (Patti) Malmas of Fernie and Brenda (Rod) Swartzenberger of Lethbridge; grandchildren Hudson, Brea (Erik), Sierra, and Ashlyn; siblings Reg (Sheron) Malmas and Joan Horchuk as well as numerous other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express gratitude for the compassionate care provided by all the staff on 4C at Chinook Regional Hospital as well as St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held.

YORGASON
EDITH MARGARET YORGASON (DOW) passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on July 20. 2022 – just shy of her 96th birthday.
Edie was the 7th. child of Harry & Violet Dow (Honey) of Claresholm. She grew up in Claresholm and then attended Business College in Calgary and along the way developed friendships that lasted her lifetime.
She married her first husband – Pat Lowe, in 1946 and when son Robert was born, they moved to Lethbridge where Sandra and Susan soon arrived. Edie was a busy mother who took her job seriously ensuring her kids were loved, well cared for, and allowed to prosper.
In 1967 Edie married Robert Yorgason and they moved to Hinton where she developed a strong appreciation for golf which she continued well into her 70’s. She started a second career with RBC and upon retirement, Edie and Robert moved to High River and subsequently to Lethbridge.
Edie is survived by her son Robert (Billie) Lowe, daughters Sandra Lowe and Susan (Tracy) Dow. As well, numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren where every visit with them was something special.
She was predeceased by her parents, 6 siblings, her husband Robert Yorgason, and grandson Shane Wade Lowe.
Special thanks to the staff at Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre for their compassionate care after Edie fell and broke her hip. Thanks as well to the staff and residents at Martha’s House where Edie resided for 16 years. Special thanks to Debi for her love and support.
According to her wishes there will be no service and she will be laid to rest at a private family service in the Dow Family plot in Claresholm.
