After high school he went to northern Alberta and was employed as a hunting guide, he returned home and began working for Double H Plumbing with his father until his passing. His Father was very proud of his work ethics and innovative ways of improving their quality of work. Adam was well taught about being a cowboy from his dad. Breaking wild horses, then riding them cross country to Old Agency. Adam’s athletic abilities made his parents very proud and will cherish all his athletic accomplishments. Adam was very young and only 3 years old when he began his hockey career in the Kainai Minor Hockey Association. Adam was very athletic and with his ability to skate he would skate from one end of the rink and work the puck to the opponents net and score. Adam moved up throughout his minor hockey years and joined the AA Rockies in Crowsnest Pass. Adam and teammates won numerous gold medals at the Native Provincials and finished his junior hockey with the Jr B Screaming Eagles hockey club. Adam and some of his hockey brothers came together and played fastball at the North American Indigenous games in Victoria taking home a silver medal, at this time he was scouted and invited by the New York Yankee farm team to join their spring training camp. With Adam’s athletic nature and being a natural at all the sports he played.

When he became a father he passed on his athletic skills to his children and was very proud of Connor and Christa’s basketball talents. Passing his hockey skills down to his baby boy Cash. Adam loved and was very proud of his two beautiful princesses Tawny Jo being like her father in his humble ways and very proud of his Jingle dress princess Dalelyn. Adam became the proudest grandfather to his first grandchild, Andreas Ray Healy in March 2022. He cherished every moment he spent with him. Adam would carry Andreas around the whole time he was with him looking at him in awe. Adam was taught traditional values from his parents and every year at the sundance you would see Adam helping his parents with the setting up the tipi and fulfilling his vows of dancing with his parents. In more recent years you would see Adam teaching his children how to set up camp and teaching them the same traditional values. Adam was always so helpful to all that were in his presence and because of his humble nature he would make sure all that stopped by the camp were welcomed and fed. Adam was one of the original members of the Dove society when it was revived back into the annual Sundance and then passed it down to his son Connor. Being a loving father to his children he showed them love, respect and was very stern with them. Adam had a very humorous and mischievous nature to him where you would often see him doing practical jokes and pranks on his friends, family and especially his sisters, planning his next adventure he would swear his sisters into secrecy in his many ploys of reaching his goals and funds. Adam and his brothers would spend many hours visiting and telling stories of their days spent with grandpa Joe always quoting his many sarcasms like telling each other “that’ll be the day!” and the most famous saying “I’m a cowboy!”. They cherished the days spent with their grandpa fishing, driving the reserve or just being at grandpa’s house.

Adam will forever be remembered and his memory will be cherished and remain in the hearts of his parents, his children, sisters, brothers, family and friends. Adam’s predeceased relatives: Maternal grandparents Arthur & Betty Healy Sr., paternal grandparents Joseph & Agnes Heavy Head. Niece: Christa Marie Healy. Nephew: R.J. Heavy Shields. MURRAY

It is with great sadness we announce that our dear mother, LORNA BLANCHE MURRAY, beloved wife of the late Jim Murray, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the age of 95 years.

Mom took great pleasure in watching her family grow and live life. She loved her three sons dearly and was thrilled to welcome each grandchild and felt even more amazed and blessed as she met her 10 great-grandchildren: first son Rodney (Wendy) Murray and their children Cayley (Edwin) Camps [son Nash], Leslie (Mike) Pollard [children River, Zachary and Bo], and Travis Murray; second son John (Jody) Murray and their children Karina (James) Boorer [children Theo and Jasper] and James (Danielle) Murray; and third son Shawn (Nicki) Murray and their children Taner (Stephanie) Murray, Austen (Alyssa) Murray [children Cash and Leo], Colten (Diana) Murray [children Romeo and Harlow], Broek Murray and Reid Murray.

Mom shared a special bond with her sister Wilda Murray, who survives her along with many nieces and nephews.

Lorna is predeceased by her beloved Jim, whom she has missed for the past 34 years. We take great comfort knowing and believing they have been reunited and are both now happy in the arms of Jesus. She is also predeceased by her parents George and Ruth Foster and her five siblings.

Mom was a kind, sweet and gentle spirit to all those she knew and loved. She always carried herself with a classy, quiet and graceful manner — a true lady of her time.

Lorna adored her Picture Butte community. She gave many years of her life volunteering and enjoyed every community gathering. She was always willing to help where she could. It was endearing that she left this earthly world at the time of one of her favourite community events, Jamboree Days.

A Celebration of Lorna’s Life will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 528 Maple Crescent, Picture Butte, AB on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Glenda Wert officiating. The service will be livestreamed and available to watch via Lorna’s obituary on Cornerstone’s website.

In lieu of flowers, Lorna’s family graciously welcomes donations to the Picture Butte Food Bank, PO Box 326, Picture Butte, AB T0K 1V0.

Our family also wishes to acknowledge the great care Mom received over the last eight years of her journey. Previously at Piyami Lodge in Picture Butte, then her later four years at the A-House in St. Michael’s. You sweet people treated our mom with respect and compassion and we are ever so grateful to you all — thank you!
