John Everett Bruised Head, son of Everett Bruised Head and Sadie Wadsworth, passed away in Lethbridge on August 29, 2022 at the age of 65 years.

A Wake Service will be held at John Bruised Head’s Residence, Blood Reserve, AB on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will continue at John Bruised Head’s Residence on Friday, September 2, 2022 at noon with interment to follow at Bruised Head Family Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.

HAZUDA

HELEN HAZUDA, the beloved wife of the late George Hazuda, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Public Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5th, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge.

The Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, September 6th at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Following the Interment, a time of fellowship & refreshments will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

MARY CATHERINE MILLER, of Milk River, beloved wife of the late Elmer Miller, passed away peacefully at the Milk River Health Centre, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the age of 97 years.

A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB, on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Salvador Ahumada officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Salvador Ahumada celebrating. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed and may be viewed via Mary Catherine’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

Following the Mass, relatives and friends are invited to further share this day with the family at the Milk River Civic Centre for a luncheon.

Mary Catherine will be laid to rest in a Private Family Interment in the Milk River Cemetery.

Hilda Westerhoud

1934 – 2022

 Hilda Westerhoud (née Dykstra), beloved wife of the late Carl Westerhoud, passed away in Lethbridge, with family at her side, on Monday, August 29, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

 Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 1, 2022 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. 

 A private burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service on Friday, September 2, 2022.

 Hilda is survived by her children Freda (Alfons) Poppe of Diamond City, Corry Westerhoud of Lethbridge, Margaret (Richard) Visser of Taber, Allen (Marianne) Westerhoud of Taber, Brenda (Mel) Shaw of Taber, Clarence (Karen) Westerhoud of Lethbridge, Garry (Carrie) Westerhoud of Nobleford and daughter-in-law Monica Westerhoud of Medicine Hat; twenty two grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by numerous other members of her extended family.

 She was predeceased by her parents Anne and Fettje Dykstra; her husband Carl Westerhoud; sons Clarence, John and Casey Westerhoud; son-in-law Dennis Green, her three sisters and four brothers.

 Hilda was born in Tirns, Netherlands on October 20, 1934. She immigrated to Canada in 1948, settling in the Turin area. She married Carl Westerhoud on April 23, 1955. Hilda enjoyed knitting, baking, canning, gardening, sitting outside with Carl and looking after her chickens. She loved bingo at the home. The biggest highlight of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean Wood

1933 – 2022

Jean Wood passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on August 27, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

She was a mother to three sons, Shaun, Mark and Niall, and wife to two husbands, Terry O’Rourke and Terry Wood both of whom pre-deceased her.

Jean was born in Salisbury, England and trained there as a nurse alongside her dear friend Shirley Green (Godmother to Niall). In her later years she was grateful for all the nursing and medical care she herself received.

Niall knows that Jean would like to send love and thanks to Sheri, Lois, Dora, Stacy and Grace for their friendship and support.

Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
