BUFFALO, Gordon

Gordon William Buffalo Mar. 28, 1947 – Feb. 14, 2023 The Gordon William Buffalo family is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 75, in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
There will be a Two-Day Wake commencing at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Gordon Buffalo’s residence on Piikani Nation.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Multi-Purpose Building in Brocket, followed by burial at Piikani Nation Cemetery.

TAGUCHI, Noris

NORIS TAGUCHI It is with great sadness that the family of Noris Taguchi of Lethbridge, Alberta announces his passing on February 12, 2023 at the age of 92 years. Left to mourn are his loving wife Sachiko, whom he married in March 1953, daughters Louise, Patricia and Karen of Calgary and Teresa (Paul Mason) of Bermuda, and grandchildren Alex and Kathryn of Bermuda.
He is also survived by sisters Kazuko Takaguchi, Keiko Tsukishima and Chiyeko Robinson (Charlie Price) and brother Kenneth Taguchi as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Kohei and Hashime Taguchi, sisters Takako (Joyce) Saruwatari, Tayeko (Jane) Terakita, brother Yoshio Taguchi and infant son Richard.
Noris was born the eldest son of Kohei and Hashime Taguchi on October 28, 1930 in Sunbury, British Columbia and moved to Alberta with his family after the war. In 1949 Kohei and Noris started farming operations in the Picture Butte area and subsequently purchased their own farm in 1956 near Shaughnessy, growing sugar beets and potatoes.
He served as Chairman of the Alberta Potato Commission and Director for the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers Association. He was actively involved in the Picture Butte Buddhist Church as President and Director and was instrumental in membership and fundraising drives when the area temples amalgamated to form the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta.
Noris and Sach greatly enjoyed their annual salmon fishing trips to China Creek, BC, gambling trips to Las Vegas and Jackpot, and bowling. He always loved spending time with family and friends and especially cherished time spent with his daughters and grandchildren, kindly offering his wisdom, guidance and encouragement. He will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank and express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Jack Ady Cancer Centre, Adaptacare Personal Care Home, and Alberta Health Services Home Care for their caring, compassionate support of Noris.
A Private Service was held on Friday February 17, 2023 and may be viewed through Noris’ obituary on the Salmon and Sons website.
The family gratefully declines flowers or koden. Donations in Noris’ memory may be made to the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta (470 40 St S, Lethbridge) or the Jack Ady Cancer Centre (960 19 St S, Lethbridge).

HISASHI “SLIM” SHIMOZAWA 1928 – 2023 Mr. Hisashi “Slim” Shimozawa of Taber, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Kiyoko Shimozawa, passed away unexpectedly (seems weird to say it, but it’s true) after a brief stay at the Taber Health Centre, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the age of 94 years.

FABBI, Ronnie “Ron”

DR. RONNIE “RON” FABBI 1943 – 2023 Dr. Ron Fabbi of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Dana Fabbi, passed away unexpectedly at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the age of 79 years.
Ron was born on November 20, 1943 at the Galt Hospital to Antoinette and Stanley Fabbi. He attended school in Medicine Hat, Alberta through grade 10, at which time the family returned to Lethbridge where he completed High School at St. Francis Boys School. He received his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in Oregon 1966. He practiced Optometry in Lethbridge for 56 1/2 years until the day of his accident. He loved his work and loved his patients and that kept him going these many years.
Ron was involved with various clubs and organizations throughout his lifetime. He served on many boards and executives through which he made many lifelong friends. He was very active in the Prayer Community of Southern Alberta, hosting workshops for the Charismatic Gifts of the Holy Spirit and working in the areas of Inner Healing. He and the prayer community helped people in their woundedness by showing them the healing power, love and mercy of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Ron has abundant love for Jesus! He was joyful in being one of his faithful servants.
Ron enjoyed the unique nature of Southern Alberta and particularly the coulees, where he spent much time praying and playing golf. He walked the coulees often with the kids and grandkids over the 50 years that we lived on the coulee hill.
Besides his loving wife, Ron is survived by his daughter Jeunine Champagne and her sons Jordan and Rocco; sons Blaize (Mylissa) and their children Mylo and Willow, and Josh Fabbi. He is also survived by one brother Ken Fabbi; brother in law George (Barb) Modrzejewski and their sons Colby and Brett; sister in law Judy Montgomery (John) and cousin Tracey Faulkner, and many other cousins.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Antoinette and Stanley and infant brother Leroy.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM, on Monday, February 20, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12 Ave South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Kevin Tumback celebrant. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

FODER, Alice

ALICE FODER 1940 – 2023 Mrs. Alice Foder of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Al Foder, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the age of 82 years.
Alice was born March 20, 1940 in Foremost, AB., to Betty and Stan Degenstein. Truly a gift from heaven. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Foremost, received all her education and graduation accomplishment.
During this time, she was always active in all sports events, curling, basketball, cheer leading and dancing. She loved to attend all the Community Events, dances with friends of Stan and Betty, her favorite was to Polka, she went to the weekly movie at the Foremost Theatre, worked part time in the telephone office, assisted Stan in his Farm Machinery, Car dealerships and School Bus operation.
Her appearance was important to her, keeping up with Fashion, particularly shoes kept her “in front of the curve.” That desire never left her. After graduation she moved on to Lethbridge, enrolled in a Business College which enabled her to gain employment At AGT Business office, where she worked for three years.
Then it happened, she met Al February 1959, and they were married in August 1959. A short courtship followed by a marriage of 64 years. The two of them became one, then came the boys, D’Arcy, Mark, Jeff, David. The journey of parenting was well under way, she then joined Sorority to meet and make new friends, develop new relationships which she did immediately, many, many new names and faces became a happy part of her then whirlwind busy lifestyle, she loved and cherished every moment of it, always looking to Tuesdays Sorority meetings. (possibly just to get out of the house).
Alice had a natural gift of design color co-ordination accepting only perfection, she took pride in her homemaking and her home surroundings, details were always evaluated by her keen eye. Over the years home improvements were a consistent part of her, the construction of new homes, each with the latest of exterior design and interior innovations. Her final creation in Whitefish, remain as her thoughts and driven talents… Her legacy to her family… A family shoulder to shoulder developing what became a large Family Owned and Operated business throughout Canada and the U.S.A.
She leaves us with sorrow to mourn, pride to reflect on.. Husband Al, Sons D’Arcy, (Paris) Mark, Bonnie (Tori, Keaton) Jeff, David, Fonda (Dalyce, Blake, Bryce, Lauren) and two Great Grand Children, Brooks and McKenna.
Alice has requested a private family service.
