Our Grandfather kept a garden, A garden of the heart; He planted all the good things, That gave our lives their start. He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem. And then the winds and rain came, He protected us enough; But not too much because he knew We would stand up strong and tough. His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long. We are our Grandfather’s garden, We are his legacy. Thank you Grandfather, we love you

WERMUTH, Rudolph

WERMUTH It is with heavy hearts we share the loss of our dear friend, RUDOLPH WERMUTH at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton on April 2, 2023. Rudy was born on February 7th, 1931, in Hamburg Germany and immigrated to Canada at the age of 20. He and his family moved to Coleman, AB where he worked in the coal mines, and then later moved to Lethbridge where he became a skilled mason. Rudy is survived by his cousin Heike in Germany, as well as several relatives in the U.S.
A jack of all trades, Rudy knew anything and everything to do with construction. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Besides his aptitude for the trades, Rudy was an incredible musician, playing his accordion for various festivities and dance groups. For many years, Rudy travelled to seniors’ homes in and around Lethbridge to perform for those that enjoyed his music. He loved to play piano and devoted the past 3 years to playing for everyone at his residence in Edmonton. It was a pleasure and an honour to hear him play. Rudy dedicated many volunteer hours at the Lethbridge German Club, even serving as President. He also was a member of the German Club Choir for many years and enjoyed singing with his friends.
Rudy had a heart filled with love and kindness for his friends and family, with whom he loved to visit over a coffee. His compassion, love for family and sense of humour will never be forgotten! He was, and always will be, a part of our Family!
