PISKO, Robert

PISKO ROBERT “BOB” JOHN PISKO was born August 5th, 1946, to John (Jack) Pisko and Beatrice Pisko and passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at the age of 76 years, from complications after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
He is survived his sons, Robin and Paul and his granddaughter, Cambria.
He was predeceased by his father, John “Jack”, mother, Beatrice Pisko, and his youngest son, Jordan.
He had a happy childhood and spent his summers exploring Waterton. As a teen, he loved motorcycles and cars, which turned into a lifelong interest. He went to St. Francis Boys School and would later teach there when it became Catholic Central High. He went to the University of Lethbridge and graduated with a degree in Education. He taught at Catholic Central High from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. He taught Art and English and taught at the Trinity Learning Centre. After retiring to the Crowsnest Pass, he came out of retirement for several years to teach shop at Catholic Central High School, Crowsnest Consolidated High School and Sparwood Secondary School. He loved woodworking and would spend hours in his basement workshop and would also build two houses for his family.
He also loved the outdoors, which came from growing up in Waterton. He loved skiing at Castle Mountain, was a member of the ski patrol and was also employed by the ski school as an instructor in the 1980s. He was also an avid mountain biker and fisherman and loved fly fishing around the Crowsnest Pass and biking in the coulees in Lethbridge. His true passion was photography. He became interested at age seven and carried on through his whole life. He was an avid nature and landscape photographer and had pictures featured in various publications including Canadian Geographic. He also taught many photography courses, wrote articles on photography, and was always eager to help beginning photographers.
Robert will be laid to rest in MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.

MORNING OWL RANDALL “RANDY” MORNING OWL, beloved husband of Juanita Many Shots, passed away on April 23, 2023 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 48 years. A Wake Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Friday, May 5 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm continuing all night at Beverly Morning Owl’s residence. The Funeral Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall on Saturday, May 6 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in the Blood Band Cemetery.

A Wake Service will be held at the Across The Mountain residence, 140E 200N, Raymond, Alberta on Tuesday, May 9 from 5:00 pm – all night. The Funeral Service will be held at the Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Wednesday, May 10 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Blood Reserve.

MAGSON, Joyce

Joyce Magson Sept. 14, 1948 – Apr. 25, 2023 Joyce Magson, loving wife of the late Edward Magson, passed away peacefully in the Fort Macleod Hospital on April 25, 2023.
Joyce is survived by her two sons, Jim and Alfred, her daughter, Julie (Arie), and predeceased by her daughter Rita Marie.
Joyce had six grandchildren, Jaycee, Jessy, Tyco, Brodie, Tameka, and Kyra. She also had six great-grandchildren.
Joyce was born in Gimli, Manitoba, to Magnus and Viola Olson. She was the youngest of four children and the last surviving child. She had one brother, Leigh, and two sisters, Carol, and Rae.
Joyce will be clearly missed by her family and very special Fur Baby Yoda.
A Celebration & Reception will take place at Eden’s Funeral Home 2424 5 Avenue, Fort Macleod, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM.

PERRETT, Eleanore

ELEANORE PERRETT It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
Eleanore was born on August 26, 1932 in Raymond, Alberta where she also received her education. Eleanore had various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working at Woolco and Walmart for 27 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Dale-Lynn (Gordon) Clifton; and son, Kendall (Joanne) Perrett; her grandchildren, Shaun (JJ) Clifton, Jordan (Andrea) Perrett, and Raenne Perrett (Chris Myers); and 3 great- grandchildren, Madison and Taylor Clifton, and Caelan Perrett. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Olfert; brother, Monte Smith; and sister-in-law, Dianne Barton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Alexander Smith; and mother, Ethel May Smith; her sister, Gladys; and infant brother, George Thomas; infant great-grandson Brayden J.; and brother-in-law Don Olfert.
We would like to thank the staff from the Good Samaritans Society (Cottage 6) who helped our mom through her difficult journey of Alzheimer’s disease.

BLENNER-HASSETT, Eileen

BLENNER-HASSETT We are sad to announce the passing of EILEEN BLENNER-HASSETT, beloved wife of the late Bob Blenner-Hassett (2002), on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 92 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: son, Bill (Karen) Blenner-Hassett of Lethbridge, and three daughters, Robbie Innes of Lethbridge, Deb (Jerry) Shimek of Okotoks, and Betty (Ed) Montsko of Ottawa.
She was affectionately known as “Grandie” or “Grandie Bear” to her 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mom was born on June 24, 1930 to Joseph and Gertrude Girodat on the family homestead near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the farm with three sisters and two brothers, and they remained very close throughout their lives. In her late teens she moved to Alberta. While working in Waterton for the summer she met our dad. They were soon married and spent the next 50+ years together.
Mom worked for Horne and Pitfield Foods for many years. Upon her retirement she took up golf. She loved the sport and spent many happy days at the Raymond Golf Course. She also enjoyed camping, travelling, bingo, and playing cards. She often played crib with the family, and while we won’t say she was a card shark … she was very lucky!
Mom spent the last year at Piyami Lodge/Place in Picture Butte. Our family would like to thank all of the staff at Piyami for their excellent care and kindness to our mom. We are forever grateful to you!
A Private Family Gathering will be held later this summer to remember and celebrate Eileen’s life.

SMULDERS, Edward

SMULDERS EDWARD GERRIT GERARDUS SMULDERS passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the age of 96 years.
Edward will be greatly miss by all of his family: his loving wife, Edith Smulders; daughter, Inga (Bruce) and their sons Rory (Meagan) and Maxton; daughter, Karen (Chris) and their daughters Kailey (Curtis) and their children Raylee and Hayes, Courtney (Kevin) and Karissa (Scott).
He was predeceased by his parents, Geraldus and Johanna; and his son, Ralph.
Edward was born in Den Hauge, Holland on November 2, 1926. He served in the army in Indonesia during the declaration of independence in 1945. Edward came to Ottawa, Canada in 1953. He worked as an orderly in the hospital there and later took a train to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1954. Edward attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained his Bachelors of Agriculture. Edward met Edith in 1957 on a trip back to Holland and Germany, and in 1958 he brought her back to Canada. In 1959, they welcomed their son Ralph. In 1960, the family moved to Innisfail and their daughter Inga was born in 1961. In 1964, the family settled in Lethbridge and daughter Karen was born in 1968.
Edward worked many years in Agriculture, he was the manager for Shur-Gain (Canada Packers) and worked well into his 70’s at the Picture Butte Feed Mill. During his career, Ed made many close friends. Edward’s passion was his family, they were his pride and joy. His hobbies included swimming, painting, yardwork, and his green house. In his retirement years, Edward built a ranch and cow-calf operation alongside his son, Ralph. He enjoyed time spent with Edith travelling and enjoying his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren.
Edward “OPA” will be remembered for his extremely positive (glass full) attitude, his calm nature, incredible humour, wisdom, patience, giving to others, beautiful blue eyes, and his contagious smile! He will be deeply missed by all those who he knew and loved in his lifetime.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Derek Remus celebrating.

PASCAL, Samuel Ray (Fib)

SAMUEL RAY (FIB) PASCAL He was born on May 19, 1928 in the Hamlet of Kipp, Alberta to Michael and Beatrice Pascal. Ray grew up in Coalhurst where he was educated and got the nickname of Fib. After numerous job experiences he joined CP Rail where he remained until his retirement.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, wife Donna, three sisters Delilah, Gloria, Alice and a brother Joseph in infancy.
Fib is survived by his nephews and nieces Randy (Lorraine) Morgan, Jacquie (Gary) McLean, Bryan Maxwell, Marilyn (Kris) Bissoon and Norman (Kate) Maxwell.
