HAMMON, William “Bill” HAMMON On Friday, May 26, 2023 we said good-bye to William “Bill” Hammon at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. His life partner of 47 years, Debbie Quintin, was by his side.
William Ian Hammon was born January 28, 1952 in Lethbridge, AB. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golf, baseball, fishing, bocce ball, and pool – most recently winning first place at Swift Current’s Nights League championship, with record high scores. Throughout his life he had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world, he especially enjoyed spending winters in Mexico with friends.
Bill made his living of 35 years working in the Oil and Gas sector, but his true passion was driving truck during the beet seeding and harvesting season. He would jump at any chance he got to get behind the wheel for any neighbour or friend in need of a driver.
Upon his Cancer diagnosis, the man we knew and loved did the only thing he knew how to do. He believed he had already had the opportunity at a second chance at life with 21 years of sobriety under his belt. Rather than feeing defeated, he chose to see the time he had left as a gift and set about taking every opportunity to make every moment count. His positive attitude, strength, and determination saw him exceeding all expectations. But that was who he was, he spent his life determined to be better, to do, better. He was a kind, compassionate, loyal man who with his quick-witted sense of humour paired with his appetite for fun was left no shortage of companionship. He was a faithful friend that will be dearly missed by many.
Bill is survived by his life partner of 47 years, Debbie Quintin; Jordan, of whom he loved as his own daughter; his sisters, Jennifer Morrison and Denise Hammon (Bill Sokol); his sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Cozart, Guy Quintin, Lanny (Connie) Quintin, Kevin (Patti) Quintin, Brent (Yvonne) Quintin, and Rena Quintin (Clark); and by so many loved nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Jean & Jerry Hammon; his sisters-in-law, Joan Quintin and Krista Volk Quintin; and by his brothers-in-law, Richard (Tex) Morrison and Ernie Cozart.
As per Bill’s request, there will be no formal funeral service as we held celebrations of life while he was still here with us.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Bill Hammon, donations made to the Children’s Wish Foundation and the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Swift Current Funeral Home. For further information please call 306-773-8355 or to leave a personal message of condolence on the family’s obituary page, please go to the funeral home website.

HARTY, Mathias HARTY MATHIAS THOMAS HARTY, of Lethbridge, AB, beloved husband of Dorothy Pauline Harty, passed away at sunrise, with his family by his side, on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
Mathias “Math” Thomas Harty, born March 11, 1933, in Groton, AB was the fourth eldest child of Mary and Frank J. Harty.
Math is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Dallas; daughter, Melissa (Ron Pasolli); granddaughters, Gabriella and Marla; Math’s namesake, Mathew Barrett; and two very special little boys, Dexter and Jaxon Foat-Barrett. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Kanig; brother, Lawrence Harty; and sister-in-law, Joyce Harty.
Mathias was predeceased by sister, Rose Foss; brothers, Ben Harty and Frank Harty; brothers-in-law Tony Kanig, Lawrence Kanig, and Earl Foss; sisters-in-law Margaret Harty, Ruth Ann Harty, Kay Black, Mary Budinski, Fran Barrett, and Martha King.
Math was raised with his five other siblings on a farm in the Hoping Area. Dorothy and Math knew each other throughout their childhood years and school days and then went on to become highschool sweethearts. They wed in 1957 and bunked in with Mom and Dad Harty. In the early 60’s, they moved to the yard across the road from the original Harty Homestead where they hosted countless nieces, nephews, and children of family friends over the years. Not long after, their son, Dallas James was born in the summer of 1966. To make their family complete, a daughter, Melissa Marie was born in June of 1968.
Math was involved in many community organizations and could always be counted on to help any neighbour, group, or cause in every situation. Math was a man known for his huge and generous heart. Not only was Math an avid and successful grain farmer, but he also became a prosperous rancher raising cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, and roosters. Math and Dorothy enjoyed so many trips and getaways with family and friends. Math loved to travel around anywhere he could learn something new. One of his favourite pastimes was skiing with family and friends, whether it was on the slopes or behind a boat.
Upon retiring to Lethbridge in the late 90’s, he discovered a love for spending time on the track working at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club, eventually owning multiple racehorses. Math spent countless hours in his retirement years working in his yard and tinkering in his shop. It wasn’t uncommon to see him in his shop sharing stories with a friend. Math’s love of family and friends was obvious in each word he uttered and every good deed he carried out. His motto in life was “if there is a will, there is a way” and he lived by this motto to his final days.

VANROBAEYS, Wade VANROBAEYS WADE WILLIAM VANROBAEYS passed away suddenly in Calgary, AB on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 51 years.
Wade is survived by his daughter, Sydney (her mother, Tracy Vanrobaeys); his beloved partner of 15 years, Benita Ayarra; mother, Shirley Vanrobaeys; siblings: David (Cayley King) Vanrobaeys, and Cheri (Jason) McNabb; and Benita’s mother, Helga Ayarra; and her brother, Greg (Gina) Redies.
He was predeceased by his father, William Vanrobaeys.
Wade was taken from us as he was about to attend Sydney’s high school graduation, an event he had been looking forward to for some time. Sydney was the absolute joy of Wade’s life and anyone who knew or spoke to him could feel the immense pride and love he had for his special daughter. Wade loved to spend time going to Sydney’s dance recitals and moments they shared together were often spent watching cooking shows and then bringing their talents to the kitchen table. Wade and Syd were a wonderful team. They brought such joy to each other and we are so thankful for their loving relationship.
Wade was an excellent athlete in his youth. He excelled in soccer; he was selected to Team Alberta in his youth. Wade also participated in speed skating and various school sports, and later took to the slo-pitch fields to keep his athletic passions alive. He loved time spent with teammates past and present – either on or off the field, reliving past accomplishments.
Wade will be remembered for many things, but first and foremost was his tremendous heart. Once Wade was involved in someone’s life, his affection and devotion were unmatched. He was quick with a joke or a hand to those who were lucky enough to be in his circle. He was a good person.
There were so many things Wade was looking forward to: Sydney attending U of L in the fall, as well as having surgery to relieve his chronic back pain. He was looking forward to what the future had in store for the rest of his days with the love of his life Benita, and the rest of their family. Wade will be missed by both customers and workmates as well.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca/donate).
