DREW, Bill
DREW William (Bill) George Drew, beloved and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on May 25, 2023, just a month short of his 93rd birthday, from causes incident to age. He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, and colleagues. Bill lived a long and fulfilling life and was known for his warm smile, quick laugh, the humorous twinkle in his eye, and his cheerful demeanor.
Born June 24,1930 in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, to Jack and Bertha Drew, Bill enjoyed growing up in the Porcupine Camp – providing his Northerner boyhood with endless opportunities for wholesome fun: winter street hockey on Cherry Street (using frozen horse droppings as a puck) with the Toke Street gang, summer swimming in the warm waters of Gilles Lake near the Hollinger mine pump house and camping in the bush. Bill had an older brother, Del, and a younger sister, Bette.
After high school, following his family’s Cornish tin miner heritage, Bill worked in the local mines for a few short years. Deciding it wasn’t the life for him, Bill chose to set aside the underground miner’s life for the light and fresh air topside, and began working for the Ontario Northland Railway.
He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Craig, on June 28, 1951. Together, they began a life of shared adventures in family, church, and business. They purchased their first flower shop in Timmins, William Drew Florists, and later successfully expanded their floral businesses, opening and running additional stores in the region for many years. In 1978, they sold their businesses to move West, following some of their children to the Lethbridge, Alberta area. Ever resourceful, Bill and Marg opened and successfully ran another floral business in Lethbridge, before choosing to retire. Bill and Marg went back to school to complete their high school diplomas together, wholeheartedly immersing themselves as adult learners, embracing with enthusiasm reading, studying and discovering. Their retirement gave Bill and Marg opportunities to travel the world together–Europe, the UK, Egypt, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Arizona, and Florida. They were continually broadening their horizons, as well as volunteering regularly in their community.
Bill loved to make chocolate truffles, serve his grandchildren a grilled cheese sandwich anytime they dropped by, and made delicious Cornish Pasties, served the right way–with HP sauce.
Dad was a humble quiet leader in his family, his community, and in his Church service. Dad came to know, love, and follow His Savior throughout his life. Many lives were blessed by Dad’s gentle and willing ministering touch. You always knew that Dad would be there for you if you needed help. He served his sweetheart faithfully, especially these past four years, giving her his loving and reassuring companionship.
Bill is survived by his sweetheart of 72 years, Margaret, and their five children: Craig (Allison), Lori (Mike), Cindy, David (Janet), and Peter (Colleen), 23 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren. We will all miss the fun, noisy, sometimes chaotic Drew family reunions-the warmth, the love, the “I love you” group hugs as we departed, with our wonderful Dad, and Grandpa at the helm. He was just the best.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Bertha Drew, his brother Del, his sister Bette, a great granddaughter, and many extended family members. We know there is a long line of loved ones waiting to welcome Dad home on the other side of the veil!
A Memorial service for family and friends will be held at Salmon & Sons Funeral Home in Lethbridge, Alberta, on Bill’s birthday, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
We, as a family, wish to give special thanks to the amazing, kind, and warm staff on the 3rd floor at Legacy Lodge for their exemplary care and friendship to Bill during the last four years. They are professional superstars!

GOLBY-DAVIES, Loretta
LORETTA GOLBY-DAVIES nee ANDERSON 1961 – 2023 Loretta Ann Golby-Davies of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Lewis Davies, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, May 26, 2023, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Loretta was the eldest of five children of Barbara and Kenneth Anderson of Lethbridge. She attended school in Milk River and Coalhurst and then Lethbridge College. After attending Lethbridge College, Loretta started her career in Information Technology in Edmonton working for AGT from 1981-1992 and then for ISM from 1993 to 2000. After over 20 years in the corporate world, her entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and she formed Allegro Associates with partners John McMillan and Glen Mitchell. She devoted over 20 years to its success until her retirement, and it continues to be an ongoing success.
Loretta’s interests started to shift more into her art which she had pursued for many years in her spare time. She and Lewis pursued their dream and moved to Salt Spring Island where she operated under her art enterprise Colour by Loretta. She was soon involved as Treasurer and Director on the board of the Salt Spring National Art Prize (SSNAP). With her business acumen and technical expertise she made significant contributions to SSNAP during their time on Salt Spring Island.
Loretta loved to travel extensively and had a sense of adventure, organizing a bicycle tour through the Gulf Islands with a group of friends and she and Lewis went sailing through the Greek Islands. She also ensured travel included the opportunities to expand her art knowledge.
Loretta and Lewis moved back to Alberta recently to be nearer families. This has proven to be fortuitous as family support has been there for her over her cancer journey. Loretta documented her cancer journey on Facebook. She was so appreciative of all her many friends support as they responded with optimism and encouragement to her throughout her journey.
Besides her beloved husband Lewis Davies, Loretta is survived by and will be immensely missed by her mother Barbara; 3 sisters Janice (Mikko) Makela of Lethbridge, Cheryl Kiss of Lethbridge, Deloria (Franscisco) Many Grey Horses-Violich of Santa Cruz, CA; 1 brother Merlin (Kimberley) Anderson of Lethbridge; nieces and nephews that were very dear to her Brandt Anderson (Jessica Mclean), Sophia Makela, Emily and Zoltan Kiss (and their father Frank Kiss); Ella-Michele and Nahtayu Many Grey Horses- Violich; step son Dr. Robert Davies (Nichole Nesbitt-Papworth) of Calgary; stepdaughter Neena (Hans) Bauck of Squamish, B.C; step grandchildren Sophia, Elisabeth, Katherine Davies and Aria Nesbitt-Papworth; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

DERENZO-MUNRO, Mark
DERENZO-MUNRO September 2, 1994 – June 1, 2023 MARK ROBERT DERENZO-MUNRO has gone on to his next journey, to walk, run and play.
Mark is survived by his parents Debra Derenzo and Jayson Munro, twin brother Brady, sister Verna (Gabe) Mabin, and brother Colby Auld, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mark was born Sept 2 1994. He was a son, brother, uncle, grandson, and a nephew. All of these roles were important, however, his biggest role on earth was that of a teacher. Mark was an inspiration to the people who were fortunate to be a part of his life. He inspired them to have compassion and patience, to love unconditionally, and to take joy in the small things. Mark loved everything from Toy Story to the Wiggles, although I’m sure his parents often times wished he enjoyed other shows once in a while.
Mark taught his family that they could do hard things. The final lesson being the toughest, and that life just won’t be the same without him. Even though he did not speak with words, his most infectious smile and those big brown eyes spoke volumes. He loved visits from his niece and nephews, and even when he was having a tough day, they could always find a way to make him smile or laugh. It wasn’t always easy, but it was so worth it. You will always be our most favorite Marky Mark!
To infinity and beyond, our precious boy. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating.
Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

GRUNINGER It is with great sadness that the family of ANTON DONALD (DON) GRUNINGER announce his passing on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 91 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care unit in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Don was born December 9, 1931, in Magrath, Alberta to Anton and Theresa (Rush) Gruninger. Don married Carol Hodgdon on October 5, 1953 and together they had two sons. Wayne was born in the summer of 1955 and five years and one day later, their second son Dale was born.
