PENNER, Erna PENNER, Erna August 20, 1931 – Coaldale, Alberta June 12, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta Born on August 20, 1931, in Coaldale, Alberta, Erna was raised on the family farm growing sugar beets and wheat. After finishing public school, she attended Coaldale Bible School and completed her teaching degree through summer courses. A passionate educator, Erna spent the majority of her teaching career at the John Davidson Elementary School in Coaldale. Erna passed peacefully on June 12, 2023, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. She is survived by her sister Agnes, her nephew Dwayne Penner (Shauna), her niece Gaylene Turner (Barry), and her nieces and nephew, Iliana, Sophie, and Charlie. She is predeceased by her parents; Herman and Margaretha; her brothers; Abram (infant) and John; and her sister-in-law Jeanette.

SEXTON, Ernest “Ernie” SEXTON Ernest (Ernie) Herbert Sexton of Milk River crossed over to glory May 18th, 2023 in the Milk River Care Facility with family at his side.
He was one of seven sons of the late Harold & Agnes (Hebb) Sexton of Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia. Born in Halifax Nov 14th 1930, he went to school and lived in Windsor till he moved to Alberta. After many trips back and forth with brothers Jim and Henry, he landed a year round job farming in the Warner area, where he met his wife, Zola Gibson while helping another farmer. Married in August 1956, they were blessed with seven children from 1957-1966, six girls & one boy, the last two being twins.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by eight siblings, two sisters, Lilian Hardie and Evelyn Leach, six brothers, Henry, Harold, Bill, Jim, Eric, and Charlie, his Daughter Kim Feist, granddaughter Shaylee Feist & former wife Zola Sexton. He is survived by one sister Marie Dill from Windsor Nova Scotia, six children, Sharline (Ike) Lynn, Nadine (Kim) Eagles, Karen Sexton, Sharon (Alan) Collinson, Linda Stahl, & Harold Sexton, fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Ernest was an honest, loyal, fair, loving and competent man working hard at whatever he did. He loved and was dedicated to his family and friends, always willing to help. Hunting, fishing, & water skiing was what he enjoyed when there was time. He was always smiling, had a particular fondness for animals and small children. His dedication and concern for people will be missed by all who were touched by his love, smile & friendly hand shake. An open celebration of life will be held at the Milk River Civic Centre, Saturday July 22, 2023 at 2:00 with Keith Dangerfeild officiating.

KLASSEN, Jaqueline KLASSEN Jaqueline Rose Klassen, 60, of Lethbridge, AB passed away on June 22nd 2023 after her short battle with cancer.
Jackie is survived by her husband Ben Klassen, her father Ron Larson (Margaret), her children Frank, Christine, Mary Ann and Daniel (Simone), also by her grandchildren Austin, Jamie, Tatum, Rayson and Shayna.
At Jackie’s request, no formal public services will be held. A private family viewing and service will be held at a later date.

HIRSCHE, Ann HIRSCHE Ann Marie Hirsche, beloved wife of the late Marven Hirsche, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in Raymond at the age of 86 years.
Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stirling Chapel, Stirling, Alberta. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Stirling Cemetery.

GRAHAM, Mary GRAHAM It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother MARY GRAHAM, beloved wife of the late William “Laurie” Graham, at St. Michael’s Health Care Center on Monday June 12, 2023 at the age of 98 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Donna, Jayne (Keith) Mauthe, cherished daughter and caregiver Susan and much-loved son Greg (Diana) of Seattle, Washington, five grandchildren, Mary Ann Graham, Amanda and Lauren Mauthe, and Travis and Spencer Graham, one sister-in-law, Myrna Stokes of High River as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Desmond and Ethel Stokes, sisters Terry Zolkivski and Helen Murphy, brother Robert Stokes and daughter-in-law Shelle Graham.
Mary was born in Stettler, AB on March 20, 1925. She spent most of her younger years in Edmonton before moving to Lethbridge in 1963. Here, Mary began her career with the City of Lethbridge, where she became Supervisor of Utilities before retiring in 1983.
Mary loved curling, swimming, knitting, quilting, and made incredible shortbread cookies. Affectionately known as Mother Mary, she had no problem sharing her great wit with anyone she encountered. We will love and cherish her forever.

NYENHUIS, Anne “Antje” NYENHUIS ANNE (ANTJE) NYENHUIS, beloved wife of the late Harm Nyenhuis, passed away at home in Lethbridge, on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the age of 89 years.
Anne is survived by her children, Anneke and Dick (Gayle); granddaughters Lindsay (Alex) King, Samantha Nyenhuis; and great-granddaughter, Olivia King; one brother, John (Edna) Verschoor; sisters Janny Kalf, Betty Groenenboom, Cobie Den Hollander and Nel (John) Van Es; as well as many of her siblings’ children and grandchildren who all knew her as Tante Annie.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harm Nyenhuis; parents Jacob and Sophia Verschoor; brother, Casey Verschoor; an infant brother and three brothers-in-law.
Born and raised in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, Anne emigrated with her siblings and parents to Canada in 1952. After one year working for a sugar beet farmer near Raymond, she and her family moved to Edmonton in order to learn English and save money to buy a farm. She remained in Edmonton after meeting Harm Nyenhuis and were married in 1956, remaining in Edmonton where they were blessed with two children. After Harm’s passing in 1963, Anne moved to Rainier to be closer to her family where she stayed until moving to Lethbridge after the farm was sold.
Anne’s love for travel was evident in the number of trips she took in the last 30 years. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and having lunches with friends. She had many friends through sorority, swimming, bowling and church, being a faithful member of Southminster United Church. Her love and pride of her family shone every day in everything she did.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 – 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Taylor Croissant officiating. KOVACS, Margaret KOVACS In the early morning hours of June 5th, 2023, DEANNA MARGARET KOVACS, lost a very short but courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband, and was surrounded by the love of her family.

ANDERSEN, Nora NORA ANDERSEN 1922 – 2023 Mrs. Nora Andersen of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Andersen, passed away peacefully at Adaptacare in Lethbridge on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 100 years. MATEVIC, Vince VINCE MATEVIC Vince Matevic passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023.
Vince was born in Natal, British Columbia on March 11, 1955. He lived on the family farm till he was 7 years old at which time the family moved to Lethbridge.
He has resided in Lethbridge until his passing.
He will be remembered by his family and friends.
