MARIANNE BLYTHE
1950 – 2023

After living the life she wanted, Marianne said her heartfelt goodbyes and joined her beloved husband, Dick, and God.
From chasing elephants in Zambia, to visiting Machu Pichu and praying at most of the Catholic spiritual hotspots, Marianne traveled the globe during her lifetime. She did all this while teaching school and being a dedicated mother and wife.
Sadly, she lost her beloved husband, Dick, in 1998, and although she never truly got over her loss, she continued on with what made her happy – family, art and her faith.
Marianne was an amazing artist, the world missed out on her talented gifts, but her beautiful collection will always be treasured and loved by her family and friends.
God and her faith community were an integral part of her life. “God is good” is a consistent Marianne quote. She was always so grateful for the love, support, and friendships she made in her faith community. She prayed long and hard for those she knew, those she did not know and for those in need of prayer but did not know they needed it.
No one is perfect in life and the truth is that we sometimes leave issues and feelings unresolved with those we love. We know that Marianne wished for everyone to find peace and happiness in their life.
Her friendships meant the world to her. She loved being able to share stories, reminiscing about good times and tossing out the occasional salty comment over a good meal and some wine.
Marianne loved to teach, so to all the students she taught and fed, she hopes you still remember your grammar and that you are happy in life.
Her family will always celebrate her life recognizing how important it is to spend time together. Her beloved daughters Kate (Shane) and Brooke (Rene) feel very lucky to have had her in their lives knowing that family meant everything to her. Marianne greatly loved and appreciated her sons in laws: Shane and Rene, often remarking to them about how she felt content with her extended families. Her grand children were Marianne’s joy, Isabelle, Jack and Lily (Shane and Kate), Mikayla and Emma (Rene and Brooke), were so cherished and loved by Marianne, any time she spent with them was always the most precious to her.
Marianne lived a good life, she was happy with most of it and at peace with parts that she could not change. Please do not mourn, but rather, find some joy in your day and relish it. “Each day is a gift” as she was fond of saying.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 pm, on Friday, August 18, 2023, at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC PARISH, 355, COLUMBIA BLVD W, Lethbridge, Alberta with Father William Monis, celebrant.
A private family Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please ignore your house cleaning chores, bill payments and exercise, grab a friend or two and go out for a fabulous meal and raise a glass of wine and a prayer for Marianne. If you are not in the mood, please consider a donation to a school meal program or your local soup kitchen.

Merrick

Shantel Le-Ann Merrick peacefully passed away on July 27, 2023 with her family by her side.  She leaves behind her eldest son, Romeo Merrick, her middle daughter Jada Merrick and her younger daughter Destiny Merrick.
Shantel was known as a fighter. If there was one obstacle in the way she wouldn’t hesitate to make her path clear again.  She was an artist, not only with her skill but with the way she went about life.  There was never a dull moment in the sheer creativity she had but most of all she loved.  She loved her son, daughters, nieces and nephews. She loved her mother and father, brothers and sisters. She loved her close friends and she loved the distant one too. These traits she held will not leave with her; but rather live within us. Her love will warm us on the coldest days. Her strengths will pick us up when we are weak. Her artistic ways will paint us a path when we are stuck.  Shantel’s soul may have moved on. But her memory will forever live within us.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home
