WALKER, Irene

In Loving Memory of IRENE ROSE WALKER (nee Mueller) It is with sad hearts that the family announces the passing of Irene Rose Walker on August 20, 2023 at the age of 98. She will be dearly missed!
Left to treasure her memory and remember her legacy are her three children; David (Diane), Donald (Rita) and Sharon (Howard), five grandchildren; Candace (Marc), Geoffrey (Haley), Devan, Brett (Olivia), and Megan, and four great-grandchildren; Isabella, Charlotte, Noah and Jacob.
Irene was pre-deceased by her husband Dave and infant son, Patrick.
A Memorial Service and “Celebration of Life” will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta. We are inviting everyone who knew Irene and Dave to attend.

WELLS, Melvin

WELLS Melvin B. Wells of Cardston, AB passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 75 years.
The family would like to thank Dr. Spence, Dr. Olsen and the nursing staff for the wonderful treatment and care provided for Melvin and for the compassion and support extended to the family during this difficult time. No one could ask for a better health care team.
A Wake Service will be held at the Tanner Center, Cardston (260 1 St West) on Wednesday, September 6 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Thursday, September 7 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.

ANDERSON, Jeffrey

ANDERSON Jeffrey Michael Anderson passed away on August 19, 2023 in Vernon, BC at the age of 39. He is the beloved son of Wendy Szabo and Larry Closs and Daniel and Angel Anderson. Brother to Caiden Closs, Cory Anderson and Jamie Smith.
A celebration of life will be held on September 23, 2023 starting at 1:00 p.m. at the 702 Wing (174 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge, AB.) Family and friends are welcome to attend.

EISLER, Zigrids

ZIGRIDS EISLER 1932 – 2023 In the early morning hours of August 30, 2023, the world lost the most beautiful soul. Zigrids Eisler, passed with family at his side at the Chinook Regional Hospital. Those who knew him could attest to the truly beautiful human he was.
Zigi was born on December 7, 1932, in Riga, Latvia to Emily and Robert Eisler. The family immigrated to Canada shortly after WWII. Early life in Canada included courting and marrying his lifelong sweetheart, Terry. They wed in 1954 at St. Basils Parish in Lethbridge. Together they raised their three daughters, Darlene, Adele, and Anita. They built a life together on the North side of Lethbridge, which included wonderful and amazing lifelong friendships, gardening and travels. Zigi, was first and foremost a family man, at times working two jobs to support his young family. Eventually he became a certified Bodyman working for years in autobody at Beny’s. His talents with automobiles ensured that all three of his daughters had beautiful cars to drive on their 16th birthday.
Outside of work, his family, gardening and yearly trips to Vegas occupied his time. He was always up for family card games each weekend or watching wrestling every Saturday. He would spend hours taking his young grandchildren to the park, sneaking in some candy store trips, and always letting us order that extra Shirley Temple. One of the most outstanding qualities he had was his positivity, tenacity, and ability to focus on his blessings. At a young age he suffered a massive stoke leaving him paralyzed on half of his body. Most thought this would spell the end. However, for Zigi, it just meant the future looked a little different. He worked tirelessly to learn how to do things that once were old hat, and even found a way to continue managing his garden and roses for years to come. What is so inspiring is that through all his challenges is that he always found a way to share his love, amazing sense of humour and that he never quit. His loss will leave us all with a huge gap. However, we are so very thankful for his example to continue to love and be grateful though all of life’s challenges.
Zigi leaves behind his daughters Darlene Lagace, Anita (Dave) Field, his grandchildren Danielle (JP) Tone, Andrew (Brittany) Field, Allise (Anthony) Field-Macpherson, all of Lethbridge; and Breonna (Benjamin) Steinman, and Madison (Donavan) Smith, both of Calgary; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Charlie and Emmerson Tone, Fynn and Gracee Macpherson, Halle Field, Ashir and Peyton Steinman; and a number of siblings, nieces and nephews all of Ontario.
He was predeceased by the love of his life Terry; his daughter Adele Sikking; infant twins; and both his parents and parent in-laws.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC PARISH, 355, COLUMBIA BLVD W, Lethbridge, Alberta with Father William Monis, celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

HANEY, Terry

TERRY HANEY 1944 – 2023 Mr. Terrance “Terry” Clark Haney, and long-time resident of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on August 29, 2023, at the age of 78 years, from complications of dementia.
Terry was the first born to LeRoy and Helen Haney on December 20, 1944, in Fort Frances Ontario. In 1966, He married his sweetheart Carole Elizabeth Smith in Atikokan, Ontario. Terry went to high school in Atikokan, Ontario and then completed his heavy-duty mechanics studies in 1972, in Toronto, Ontario.
He worked at the Steep Rock iron ore mine in Atikokan in his early years. He moved to Lethbridge, Alberta with his young family in 1978, to begin his career. He worked for the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services for over 30 years. He retired in 2008. He volunteered for many years with the Lethbridge Special Olympics and Salvation Army. He was also involved in his children’s sports and activities.
Terry enjoyed time spent in nature. He loved days on the boat and evenings around the campfire, with family and friends. His walleye dinners, backyard BBQ’d burgers, and pies were enjoyed by all. He enjoyed a double rum, dancing and soaking up the sun on the beach. He also found joy in keeping a meticulous yard full of flowers, trees and a garden. Terry collected and played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and accordion. His grandsons will always treasure strumming their guitars with Papa. Terry appreciated the craftsmanship of antique clocks and had a knack for restoring them.
Terry showed genuine compassion and selflessness in caring for Carole as she struggled with complications of diabetes in her later years. He was highly regarded by his friends, co-workers and neighbours. He was thoughtful, generous, and patient and was always willing to offer a helping hand, with a smile and kind word. He was always able to find a solution to a problem and encouraged others to be confident in themselves.
He is survived by his children Robyn (Kevin) Olton and Chris (Trina) Haney; his grandchildren Spencer and Mack (Cassidy); his close family Alexa (Alex), Kassian and Aurelia, Amy (Dagan); his siblings Sandy, Randy (Sandy), Twyla (Ed), and Rusty (Candice). Terry is also survived by his very special friend Judy Harris and her family, Chris (Natalie) and their children Maren, Mason, Billie, Danica, and Karly (Jeff) and their children Halie (Michael), Joel, Hannah and Jarred.
He was predeceased by Carole, his loving wife of 37 years and siblings Rodelle, Peggy, and Tammy.

MOORE, Joan

JOAN MOORE 1930 – 2023 Joan Eleanore Moore passed away with her family by her side on August 26, 2023, at the age of 93 years.
Joan was born July 15, 1930, in Commerce, Alberta and grew up on the family farm by Shaughnessy and attended Plain Butte school. She worked with her husband Jack in managing Moore’s Esso in Lethbridge for 38 years, retiring in 1991. An avid golfer, Joan was a long-time member of the Lethbridge Country Club, Lethbridge Ladies City Champion from 1989-1991, a member of the Alberta Senior ladies golf team in 1998. Joan officiated for many years at track and field events including the 1978 Commonwealth Games. She also enjoyed bowling, kayaking, skiing and camping with her family, who meant the world to her.
Joan is survived by her daughter Pam (Lloyd) MacNaughton of Lethbridge; sons Randy (Lorna) Moore of Rocky Mountain House and Chuck (Dawn) Moore of Kelowna; grandchildren Shanda (Jay), Janay (Shawne), Candice (Rob), Stephanie, Jared, Katlin (Matt), Brett (Linda), Montana, Makena (Calvin); great grandchildren, Taylor, Payton, Addison, Gina (Brett), Brant, Finley, Kaia, and Luka. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Jensen, and brother-in-law, John Kundrik, both of Lethbridge, sister-in-law, Phyllis Jensen of Sturgeon County and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Jack of 59 years; granddaughter Krista Moore; mother and father, Marie and Peter Jensen; sisters, Doris Colpitts, Betty Kundrik; and brothers, Harold Jensen and Roy Jensen, and brother-in-law, Earl Colpitts.
We will remember Joan as a caring mother devoted to her family, an amazing Grandma, and Great Grandma (Nana)!

DAVIES, Mary Rose

MARY ROSE DAVIES passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at Piyami Place, on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Davies, of 68 years; her children: Mike (Nerys) and family, Joann (Hugh) and family, Kathy (Tim) and family, Cheryl (Denis) and family, and Nancy and family.
Mary was born in Hillspring, AB to Gabor and Barbara Tokai. The family then relocated to Picture Butte to farm. Working on the farm and attending school in Picture Butte, Mary and her sister Elizabeth met two young brothers (Ed and Leo Davies) in the area. Mom and Dad married November 9th, 1954 and have been together for 68 years. Mom worked at St. Michaels Hospital and Picture Butte Hospital as working as a Health Care Aide while raising five children.
In their early retirement years, mom and dad worked at the Fly in Fishing Camp at Shadd Lake, SK for 16 years. Mom worked very hard but enjoyed every minute of it. It was the best years of her life.
Mom will be greatly missed by her husband, children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many lifelong friends.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Gabor and Barbara Tokai; sisters, Margaret and Bernadette; brothers, Steve and Gabor; her son, Robert; and daughter-in-law, Josee.
An immense thank you to Dr. Leisham, Picture Butte Ambulance staff, and the staff at Piyami Lodge and Place for the passionate care and support for our mother.

OSLANSKI MARGARET CECILIA OSLANSKI, of Milk River, beloved wife of the late Charles Oslanski, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side, on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the age of 95 years.
Margaret is the loving mother of three daughters: Elizabeth Stroeve of Picture Butte, Rosemarie Oslanski-Mankow (Gord Kopp) of Milk River and Kathleen (Lester) Jochem of Taber; 13 grandchildren: Theresa (Dino) Pasquotti and their family, Dario, Matteo and Nico (Megan); Shirley (Ed) Stronks and their family, Carson (Mick), Denver (Elaina) and Laney (Avery); Dolores (Cam) Wright and their family Amber and Jamey (Courtney); Andrea Stroeve-Sawa (Trevor Sawa) and their family Treven, Taylor and Tanae; Lisa (Robert) Still and their family Jaelynn (Tanner) Hansen and Alyssa Perry; David (Kelly) Mankow and their family Megan and Ryan; Darlene (Doug) Snow; Tania (Jake) Wall and their family Ocean, Triveni, Vienna and Briggs; Natasha (Jason) Webber; Pauline Mankow; Jonathan Mankow; Joanne (Martin) Sorensen and their family Stephanie (Pete) Stayanovich and Samantha Sorensen (Cam Mack); Carol (Jason) Astalos and their family Justin Astalos (Julia Anton) and Chayla Astalos (Clay Leismeister).
She is also survived by eight great-great-grandchildren: Echo, Octavia, Eddie, Dillon, Korben, Hadley, Brody and Cole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family friend Serge Mankow.
Besides her loving husband, Margaret was predeceased by her parents Steve Jr. and Margaret Binges; son-in-law Herman Stroeve; and grandson Eddy Stroeve.
Margaret Cecilia Oslanski was born June 4, 1928, the only child of Steve Jr. and Margaret Binges. Margaret lived on the family farm in 2-17. She rode horseback to school and attended the John Joe School. Charles Oslanski courted Margaret via horsebanck, they were married on February 25, 1946 and then moved to 1-17 Oslanski farm. She worked side by side with Charlie on the farm raising livestock and grain. Her pride and joy were her parklike flower garden and yard, which she spent many hours attending. Her home was always open to all family members for a meal or a homemade treat. Many grandchildren spent countless hours visiting with her.
She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street Milk River, AB on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Andrew Pyon officiating.

LORENCZ, Johnny

In Loving Memory of John Albert Lorencz JOHNNY LORENCZ, beloved husband to the late Irene Lorencz, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Legacy Lodge after a short but intense battle with Prostate Cancer. He was 93 years old.
He was the loving father of Deborah Lorencz of Lethbridge, Bev Lorencz of Lethbridge and Cal Lorencz (Stephanie) of Shoreacres, B.C.; grandfather to Amy (Toby) Rombough of Raymond, Lisa McCutcheon of Lethbridge and Kayli Lorencz-Biegler of Lethbridge; great-grandfather, “Papa Johnny”, to Logan Rombough of Raymond, Brooklyn Rombough of Raymond and Georgia Gorzitza of Lethbridge.
Johnny was born at home in rural Saskatchewan near Cupar. He was the first son to Mary Nemeth, and was raised by his grandparents Barbara and Frank Lorencz. They moved to Shaughnessy, Alberta where he began school. His early life consisted of working on the farm and playing hockey. He grew up with many aunts and uncles who were all like brothers and sisters to him.
His uncles introduced him to music where he learned to play guitar. He tagged along and even performed with their band in the Crowsnest Pass. Eventually he relocated to the Pass where he took jobs working in the local mines.
He met Mom (Irene) in 1950 and they were married shortly thereafter.
After some time driving a dump haul truck building roads around Alberta and southeast B.C. they finally settled in Lethbridge where he managed local service stations until they bought their own station and named it “Circle J Husky”.
Through that endeavour, he met many other businesspeople and decided to join forces with other businesses, leaving the service station to manage an ICG Canadian Propane Service Station & Car Wash. Eventually he worked at Custom Engine and Parts as a salesman, where he retired.
In the early 1970’s, Johnny organized the Industrial Hockey League, a raucous full-contact hockey league in the City of Lethbridge. In 1976, he joined the Lethbridge Bone Crushers hockey team where he played until the team disbanded in 1983. Johnny then joined the Lethbridge Oldtimers Sports Association, playing twice a week in a four-team league. At age 87, he was honoured as the oldest hockey player in Alberta by the Alberta 55 Plus Society. Johnny was known for a killer wrist-shot and scored many goals! He participated in the Alberta Summer and Winter games as well as yearly tournaments in Vernon B.C. He continued to play hockey until he was 90 years old.
Our Mother had a stroke in 1995 and he lovingly cared for her at home for two years. During those years, he turned once again to the music that had been so key in his earlier years. He got back to practicing and playing guitar and met other musicians. Eventually Johnny formed several bands, entertaining at numerous seniors’ residences, as well as many jamborees in Alberta, British Columbia, and Montana.
Joining the South Country Jamboree Society in April 1998, along with Faye Bosch and Keith Clark, they began to play for the Old Tyme Dance Club, and even played for the Pemmican Club Ball. He was a member of the South Country Jamboree Society for 23 years, and became president in 2010 where he remained until the club disbanded in 2021. Johnny played a final concert from his bed just a few weeks before his passing.
Johnny was our true patriarch and by example taught us many things. In his final lesson on August 26th, having already shown us how to live life well and to the fullest, he showed us how to, gently and with dignity, pass from this life into eternity.
And so, this is not goodbye to our wonderful Dad, it is just ‘until we meet again’.

ANDREWS, Delbert “Del”

ANDREWS DELBERT “DEL” ANDREWS, beloved husband of 50 years to Lorenda Andrews (née Thomas), passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the age of 70 years.
Besides his loving wife, Del is survived by his son Mike and Mike’s children Kai, Tehya and Calli Andrews; his son Steve (Christine) and Steve’s children Peyton and Brett Smith; his beloved dog Mylee; his sister Judith (Dennis – deceased); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles who he cherished deeply.
Del was born in Coaldale to Delvin and Francis Andrews. He married Lorenda Thomas in May of 1973, together they raised their sons, Mike and Steve.
Del was employed as a master electrician, was president of the RC club and had a growing passion for cars, including his prized possession El Camino and Corvette.
Del will be remembered for his loving nature, generosity, and passion for the simpler things in life.
A Celebration of Del’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating.
