KIRBY, Marie “Pat”

KIRBY MARIE “PAT” PATRICIA KIRBY (née Blakey) was born on February 7, 1939, in Preston, Lancashire, England to her beloved parents, Harry and Jenny Blakey. On Wednesday, September 6, 2023 Pat passed away leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy.
Pat was a loving mother to her children: Cathi, Maureen and Sean, who were the pride of her life. She was a pillar of strength and support to them throughout her years. Pat also had numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the continent and in Ireland, who held a special place in her heart.
During the tumultuous times of World War II, Pat’s life took a remarkable journey as she crossed the ocean with her parents, not once, but twice. Ultimately, they settled in Moose Jaw, then Lethbridge, making many friends and memories in both communities.
Pat had a deep love for her family, and was a true animal lover. Her door was always open for a cup of tea with family and her many dear friends; and her house was a home to so many beloved furry companions over the years. Her family knew it was hard for Pat to resist taking in any stray animal that crossed her path, and they were never surprised to find Pat’s newest rescue on her lap anytime they came for a visit. Pat’s home was always filled with warmth, laughter, family and friends. She loved having her grandchildren with her, and they loved the special treats she loved to make for them; her cinnamon buns and apple crisp were two of their favourites. She shared her love generously, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, Maurice Kirby; her parents; and her siblings. She will lovingly be remembered by her children: Cathi (Glen), Maureen (Dave) and Sean (Dawn); and her love will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren: Liam, Owen, Nick, Quinn (Masyn), Ben and Emerson; and special niece and nephew Suzanne and Michael Kiely.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends that can never be filled, but her memory will live on as a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. with Sharon Hagel officiating.
The Prayer Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Pat’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
