PREIKSCHAS, Eva

EVA PREIKSCHAS 1935 – 2023 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Eva Preikschas. Eva passed away at the age of 87 at the Chinook Regional Hospital and lived a full life.
She was born to Georg and Marie Preikschas in Medseden Lithuania and fled to Schneidemuhl Germany with her family during WW II. Later, they moved to West Germany eventually immigrating to Canada in March of 1954.
Eva loved the Lord, was an avid church goer no matter the weather and loved to play with children. She liked to do jigsaw puzzles and was a very hard worker. She knew the value of a hard-earned dollar yet was very generous as well.
Eva is predeceased by her parents as well as her siblings; Michael Preikschas (age 2), Hans Preikschas (age 3) Edith (Werner) Lesch, Heinrich Preikschas, Georg Preikschas, Ann (Horace) Spiegelberg, Jakob Preikschas, Marie (Gordon) Wilson, Martin (Julia) Preikschas and Friedrich Preikschas.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Verna Preikschas who was married to Friedrich, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Olivier Ravelojaona, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

LAING, Doreen

DOREEN LAING 1935 – 2023 Doreen Laing, born January 10, 1935, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023.
A Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00am at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, AB. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Lethbridge Branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association or to Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.

GORDON HOPKINS 1931 – 2023 Mr. Gordon “Gord” Hopkins of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Leona Hopkins passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the age of 91 years.

KIMBER, Roberta

KIMBER ROBERTA ELLEN WILSON KIMBER (nee Forbes), passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the age of 98.
Roberta leaves behind her loving husband Alan; her sons: Russell and Murray; and granddaughters: Kristin, Kelsi and Isabella, who hold her dearly in their hearts.
Her long life was filled with a career as a dental assistant, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a cancer survivor and avid volunteer. Born in Lethbridge, ‘Bert’ grew up in a large, close family with seven sisters and a brother, most of whom settled in Lethbridge to raise their families.
As a young woman, Roberta adored spending time in Waterton at her family’s cottage. She stayed active and loved swimming, skating, dancing, and bowling. Through bowling, she met a young Alan Kimber. Alan had to pass muster with Roberta’s discerning father, Harry, which he did magnificently. Roberta and Alan were married in 1960 and spent the next 63 years together.
At Roberta’s request, no funeral will be held. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

NYE, Debbie

NYE DEBBIE PAULINE NYE, of Coleman, beloved wife of Steve and mother to Kelsi, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the age of 64 years.
As per Debbie’s request, no funeral will be held. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

SHIPLEY ARLA GRACE SHIPLEY, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on September 17, 2023 at the Cardston Hospital.
Friends may meet the family on Friday, September 29 from 10:00 – 10:45 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, Cardston. Funeral to follow at 11:00 am with interment in Glenwood Cemetery.
