BATEMAN, John Thomas “Tom” JOHN THOMAS “TOM” BATEMAN 1938 – 2024 BATEMAN, JOHN THOMAS (Tom), beloved husband of Bonnie, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on January 29, 2024, at the age of 85 and now rests in the arms of his Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Tom was born on June 4, 1938, in Cardston, AB and grew up exploring the marshes and the land around his homestead. From a very early age, a fascinating interest in wildlife and their habitat helped prepare Tom for a 30-year career as an Alberta Wildlife Officer. In 1960 he met the love of his life, Bonnie, and they were married for 62 years. Tom and Bonnie’s lives were completely transformed when they made the decision to become followers of Jesus. The trajectory of everything they knew changed. Tom travelled the world, studied the Bible, built strong relationships, and loved his family and friends deeply. He lived his life with depth and character.
His legacy will live on in all the people he touched with kindness, generosity, and the love of Jesus. He was the loving father of Steven (Linda), Ron (Jackie), Janet (Shane); grandfather of Eric (Ashley), Charissa (Steven), Sarah (Jyote), Jon (Haley), Mackenzie, Danica, Korlan (Melanie) and Kaylee; proud great-grandfather of Brooklyn, Lena, Bailey, Rhys, Elijah, and Sophie. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Shirley), sister Joan (Mike), brother Grant (Linda), brother-in-law Jerry, sisters-in-law Bettie and Sandy.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Ephraim and Garda, sisters Barb and Carol and brother-in-law Pete.
Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at LETHBRIDGE EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 4717 24 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Steve Bateman & Pastor Dave Acree, officiating.
