KUHN, Willie WILLIE KUHN 1935 – 2024 Mr. Willie Kuhn of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Ida Kuhn, passed away at Good Samaritans Park Meadows, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the age of 88 years.
Willie was born Sept 16, 1935, Josefstal, Ukraine region of the Soviet Union to parents Elenore and Wilhelm Kuhn. They ended up in Germany when WWII ended in 1945. In 1951 they immigrated to Canada.
Willie became a plumber and eventually started his own plumbing business. In later years he was hired by the city of Lethbridge as a Plumbing Inspector. Throughout his career he became a real handyman, jack of all trades, and was often helping people repair and build projects around their homes.
He married Ilse Kruger in 1960 and together they raised a family of 3 children in Lethbridge.
His favorite pastimes were fishing and camping. He eventually bought a lot at Duck Lake in Montana and built a cabin on it. He and his wife Ilse spent many weekends and holidays out there, and hosted friends and family for weekend get-togethers. It was the joy of their life.
Unfortunately, in 1996, Ilse died of cancer. Willie was devastated.
However, a new chapter of Willie’s life started in late 1997 with the marriage to Ida Bisheimer. They had a wonderful life, travelling to the southern states with their camper van on several occasions. The real passion in their life, though, was spending time with the grandchildren, and eventually some great grandchildren from their combined families. Babies and children always made Willie smile. After 25 years of marriage, Ida passed away in December of 2022.
Willie will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a caring uncle, and a passionate and cheerful grandfather.
Willie is survived by 5 daughters Lorraine Kaufmann (Adrian), Lily Chameroy (JC), Marianne Mowat (Bruce), Rose Skierka (Dan), and Anne Bisheimer; 1 son: John Kuhn (Sofia); grandchildren Braden Kaufmann, Matthew and Kyle Chameroy, Justin and Olivia Kuhn, Jade and James Skierka, and Kevin Mailman; as well as several great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. He will also be missed by families of his niece Corrina Werbecky (Frank), and nephews Terry Anton (Leona), Ken Anton (Bonnie), and James Anton (Jan), Barry Kruger (Tonya) and Alan Kruger (Christine); 1 sister Irm Kuhn; and longtime friend of 70 years and loyal visitor Ed Ruff (Luba).
Besides his two wives, Ilse and Ida, Willie was predeceased by three infant siblings; sister Freida Anton; parents Elenore and Wilhelm Kuhn; and birth father Johann Kuhn.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Park Meadows Cottages for your love and care over the last two years. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
