JOHN “BILL” BLANKENSHIP 1934 – 2024 Mr. John William “Bill” Blankenship of Lethbridge, passed away at Adaptacare on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the age of 90 years.
Bill was born and raised in Chilliwack, B.C and later moved to Kamloops, B.C with his parents and his sister. Bill’s father John was hired to run the Molson Hop Farm in Kamloops, B.C.
Bill later met Marilyn (nee-Hogg) and they married in 1960, and started their family in 1961. After the hop farm shut down, Bill and the family moved to Lethbridge, to work at Lethbridge Molson Brewery till the Brewery closed its doors permanently in 1990. That is when Bill decided to retire. He thought that it would be a good fit, which it was for him. He loved puttering around the house, always loved helping out with what he could do.
Bill loved supporting his 3 kids through their sports. He was a dedicated hockey fan as a season ticket holder to the Lethbridge Broncos then the Lethbridge Hurricanes where he was a shareholder as well. He loved listening to his country music mixture of all the good old Country singers. He also enjoyed listening to ABBA. We would always see him, tapping his fingers or tapping his toes to the beat of the music.
Bill will be dearly missed by his 3 children Allen (Cathy), Greg and Linda (Lindsay); grandchildren Alicia, Shantelle, Andrew & Sebastian, and his great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, who he enjoyed visiting with.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Alice; and sister Doreen Kurchner.
The family wishes to thank Adaptacare and the Doctors for their care and support they gave Bill while he was there. Thank you to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapel for your caring service.
