WALTER, Joseph JOSEPH WALTER 1946 – 2024 It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear, kind Joe Fetter, 78, of Lomond Colony. Joe passed away due to complications of heart surgery.
Joe was born on January 24, 1946, at West Raley Colony. In 1974, he moved to Goldridge Colony where he later married the love of his life Justina in 1975 and started a family. In 1984, he moved to Lomond Colony where he resided until his passing. Joe was Colony farm boss for many years until he became Colony secretary in 1997, a job he loved and did with pride and joy.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Justina; his son Marvin (Martha) and family; his daughters, J. Frieda, (Gideon) Melissa Stahl and families of Pleasant Valley; (Hank) Ruth of Copperfield; his brothers and sisters Darius, Ed (Lydia) Rach, Susanna, Marie (Mike), and Dorothy of Lomond. All who took such great care of him all the time and made sure he had “coffee”; Sara (Darius) of Warden, WA; Lydia (Walt) of Cameron; Annie (Joe) of Prairie Elk, MT; and Lizzy (Min. Paul) of Red Willow; his special aunt Anna, of West Raley Colony; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Waiting for him in heaven are his parents, Chris, and Barbara; his loving sister Barbara and brother-in-law Moses; and his son-in-law Min. John Stahl.
Joe was a blacksmith and plumber in his younger years, and he traveled far and wide helping out others. but what he loved most was farming. He loved the land, it’s creator and all that came with it. He took trials as they came, and never let anything discourage him. He also had a big heart for the widows and the children in the colonies and never hesitated to give whatever was needed. He was loved and welcomed wherever his presence was made known. Joe had many health issues throughout his life, but he was not one to complain. He was a solid pillar in the Colony and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at Lomond Colony.
Rest in peace, good and faithful servant. Your work on earth is done. Until we meet again…
