SAND, Joanne SAND JOANNE CLAIRE SAND (nee Moore), passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Janet and Clive Moore, born on March 1, 1976, in Blackpool, England, and at the age of three, she moved with her family to Canada, where they welcomed her younger brother, Matt.
Joanne’s early years growing up in Calgary were marked by her vibrant personality and diverse interests. She attended Greenview Elementary School, Balmoral Junior High School, and graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1993. Throughout her school years, she was an active member of Canada Girl Guide “Brownies,” participated in ice dancing, and played the French horn in the Calgary Round Up Band. A proficient accordion player, she had a deep love for music that enriched her life, along with a playful sense of humor.
In 1995, she met Jarod Sand, and together, they welcomed their twin daughters, Jamie and Jordan, in January 1997, who arrived ten weeks early and spent three months in the Calgary Foothills NICU. Their third daughter, Jenna, was born in March 2004. After her children were born, Joanne’s love for her daughters blossomed; she was always there to support them in every endeavor, nurturing their dreams and ensuring they felt valued and cherished.
In 1999, she moved to Slave Lake, Alberta, later relocating to Cochrane in the summer of 2007 to be closer to her family. Joanne faced the heart-wrenching loss of her father, Clive Moore, in February 2010, but she became a pillar of support for her family, missing him every day.
In the summer of 2013, Joanne moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she met the love of her life Tony Kuz and embraced his daughter, Aleksandra, as one of her own. She built many friendships and was known for bringing people together. Joanne always welcomed others into their home, offering warmth and support, and creating a nurturing environment for everyone. She loved spending time in their kitchen, cooking with Tony and their loved ones, sharing delicious meals and laughter. Joanne’s family was her pride and joy; she lived for her loved ones every day, ensuring they felt cherished and supported. She was always happy and smiling, bringing light and energy to those around her and making the most of every day. She cultivated a passion for the outdoors and gardening, and transformed their home and backyard into their sanctuary. In spring 2020, she adopted her beloved dog, Misha, who brought her immense joy. Joanne dedicated over 22 years to the insurance industry, where her determination and integrity led her to reach the position of manager. Joanne had a unique ability to care for those around her and made every day feel special.
Joanne is survived by her loving spouse, Tony Kuz; daughters, Jamie Sand, Jordan Sand, and Jenna Sand; stepdaughter, Aleksandra Kuz; mother, Janet Moore; and brother, Matt Moore, his wife Kerri, and their twin daughters Drae and Macy, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in England. She is preceded in death by her father, Clive Moore.

RESLER, Ernst “Ernie” RESLER It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, ERNST “ERNIE” RESLER.
Born on the family farm outside of New Sarepta, AB on January 31, 1931, Ernie passed away at his home in Lethbridge on Boxing Day, December 26, 2024 at the age of 93.
Ernie worked hard all his life. He left the farm at 18 to work for the Imperial Lumber Company in Edmonton, where he met his wife Kae, and would eventually become the branch manager. They then moved to Calgary where Ernie managed the Calgary branch before moving again to Lethbridge to manage Hoyt’s Hardware in 1970. After managing Hoyt’s for 10 years, he opened Classic Colour Center, his own paint and wallpaper store. After Kae became ill in 1981, he sold the store to Freddie’s Paint, and then worked for them for nearly 20 years, retiring at the young age of 75.
Ernie also played hard, right up to the end. He played hockey and pitched baseball in his teens and twenties, and was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoying those games throughout his life and well into his eighties. Also enjoyed into his eighties was his love of dancing and music, travelling to several old-time country music festivals throughout western Canada and the U.S. He spent many years as the president of the Lethbridge Revellers, and just this past October, he went on the last of the several dozen casino trips he helped organize to Calgary, Edmonton, B.C., and Saskatchewan. He also enjoyed playing cards at every opportunity, playing pool, socializing, and having coffee with the boys at the seniors’ center.
Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Donna-Kae Resler (Krause), parents Lydia and Gotlieb, four brothers and three sisters-in-law Eddie and Betty, Alven and Fran, Edgar and Joyce, and Armen, and brother-in-law Cliff Zeiner. He is survived by special friend Dorothy Kometz, sister Inez Zeiner, children Dale (Karen), Audra-Dawn (Dave) Stinson, and Derek (Tracy), grandchildren Courtney and Chrissy Stinson, and Morgan and Alex Resler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke http://www.heartandstroke.ca) in Ernie’s memory.
