A private funeral service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. A private committal service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden Columbarium. A Celebration of Life event will be planned at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Kay is survived by her children Darrell (Donna) Nevil of Taber and their children Jordan (Alex) Van Hornsveld and their daughter Myla, and Dylan; Duane (Michelle) Nevil of Wrentham and their children, Riese, Clay (Steph) Nevil and their daughter Brynley, and Max; Jody Nevil (Andy Tams) of Taber and their children, Braden, Brooke, Justin (Kennedy), Brendan and Leyenna. She is also survived by her brothers John Bennett (Andrea) and his children Claire, Jayne and Rachel; Dean Bennett and his children Liv and Tom.
She was predeceased by her husband Arnold; parents Douglas and Betty Bennett.
Kay was born on November 13, 1942, in Mountain Ash, Wales, United Kingdom to Douglas and Betty Bennett. She was raised in Mountain Ash, a small coal mining town nestled in the Welsh hills. Her father, a hardworking coal miner and World War II veteran, instilled in her the values of kindness and patience, traits that defined Kay throughout her life.
Kay attended Mountain Ash Comprehensive and pursued her studies at St. Osyth’s College in Clacton. She became a home economics teacher, a career that led her to many enriching experiences and eventually brought her to Canada. In 1968, Kay moved to Cardston to teach. It was there she met Arnold Nevil of Picture Butte, who captured her heart with his charm and a fancy Dodge Super B. The two married on December 27, 1969, and settled on a cozy acreage in Cranford, a place Kay lovingly called home for the past fifty five years.
Kay and Arnold welcomed their first child Darrell in October 1970, followed by Duane eighteen months later, and their daughter Jody, three years after that. Devoted to her family, Kay dedicated herself to raising her children and tending to their lively acreage filled with animals.
As her children grew, Kay resumed work, taking on roles that showcased her dedication and resourcefulness. She cleaned the Cranford Hall, cooked at the Cranford Super Stop, worked at Verl’s Automotive in Barnwell, and managed bookkeeping at Automart. Eventually, she returned to education, becoming an EA at Barnwell School, where her warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on the children she supported.
In her retirement, Kay found joy in her yard work and volunteering with Communities in Bloom. She cherished her family above all else, often saying she was the luckiest person in the world because of them. She was an incredibly proud mom, nana and great nana who gave her all for her loved ones.
Kay is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Kay’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5 (www.cancer.ca).

Her family have been blessed with so many fond memories of Freda and she will be missed by not only her family but and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Freda dearly loved her siblings. They each had a very special place in her heart and she would do anything for them. Family meant the world to Freda. Jake was at the center of her world for forty five years before his passing in August 2008. Shortly thereafter, Freda moved into Clearview Lodge in Taber where she continued to flourish in the family atmosphere of the lodge. Residents and staff became her extended family as she still maintained her all important sibling connections with letters, phone calls and parcels throughout the year. After some health setbacks, Freda moved to St. Terese Villas in Lethbridge where she remained until her passing.

In spite of experiencing immense hardship early on in life, Lorraine remained driven by her compassionate and caring spirit. Motivated by her values and a fascination with medicine, she obtained an education at the Foothills Hospital School of Nursing in Calgary and went on to pursue a successful and fulfilling career as a nurse.
Lorraine lived in various Alberta communities over the years, spending most of her life in Lethbridge and Calgary. WEVER, Minety MINETY HENRIETTA WEVER 1941 – 2024 Mrs. Minety Henrietta Wever, beloved wife of the late Mr. Klaas “Nick” Wever, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Minety was born in the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, the oldest child and only daughter born to Cornelius and Johanna Withage. She grew up on the family farm near Monarch and received her formal education in Monarch and Nobleford schools. After leaving school at an early age, she “learned the ropes” on the farm and was soon proficient at operating many farm implements and tending to various livestock. She also assisted various families who required help in their homes as their families grew.
After several years, she met the love of her life, Nick Wever, and they were married on October 20,1961, in Nobleford CRC, during a fierce fall storm that left them stranded on their wedding night. They started married life in a small house in Raymond. There, Minety assisted in all aspects of farm labor, and they started their family, with two sons being born.
When her parents retired, they had the opportunity to return to the family farm. Together, they grew the farm and their family, adding 5 more sons and finally, a daughter. Minety loved farm life, she worked hard on the farm and in the home. In 1971, they built their own home on the farm, a home where anyone was always welcome, the door was always open, and the table could always hold more. She sold milk and eggs from the house and many neighbours and friends would stop in for a chat. She also always had a huge garden, which was needed to feed her large family. The beans, potatoes and applesauce, among other produce, were always abundant.
In 1992, they moved to West Lethbridge, while the farm remained in the care of several sons. In their retirement, they enjoyed much time with grandkids and yard work as well as many road trips and cruises, often with friends/relatives. In 2013 they moved into The View and in 2021 Minety moved into Balmoral house, where she lived until her passing.
Minety’s passions in life were Jesus, her family, the farm, and all the relationships in her life. She loved to share her faith with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and neighbours. She knew she was a sinner saved by grace. Near the end of her life, she longed to be with her Saviour and be reunited with her husband. She will be dearly missed but we rejoice that she has been granted her heart’s desire.
Minety is survived by her seven sons Jack (Wilma), Charles (Tammy), Michael, David (Diane), Wayne (Audra), Glen (Sonya), Philip (Linda); daughter Melinda (Jeff) Notenbomer; as well as 30 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Also, her brother, Garry (Anne) Withage and sister-in-law Pauline Withage.
She was predeceased by her parents Cornelius & Johanna Withage; her husband Nick Wever; her brother Henry Withage, and daughter-in-law Janet Wever (Jack).
A Viewing will be held from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Martin Brothers RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Nobleford Christian Reformed Church, 522 Highway Avenue – Nobleford, AB with Rev. Gary van Leeuwen officiating. To watch the service via livestream, please go to http://www.noblefordcrc.com
