MAIER, Mike Mike Maier
1955 – 2024
John Michael Maier, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge with Elinda, the love of his life by his side, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 69 years.
Besides his loving wife Elinda, Mike is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother Cora Maier of Ladysmith, British Columbia; his siblings Lee (Christina) Maier of Ottawa, Ontario, Steven Maier of Como, British Columbia and Sue Maier (Jeff) of Lethbridge. He is also survived by Elinda’s father Kwong Leung of Calgary and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father John Maier, brother Lyle Maier and by Elinda’s mother, King Chang.
Mike was born in Lethbridge on January 27, 1955. He pursued his education in Ontario before returning home to complete his studies at Lethbridge College.
In 1991, Mike founded The Mortgage Centre, formerly known as The Equity Centre and achieved a high level of success in his field as a mortgage professional. He served on the Nationwide Mortgage Broker Advisory Board, where his influence helped shape the industry’s future.
Known for his tenacity, Mike approached every challenge with determination. He loved his career, which he proudly called his “first love.” Yet, his passion for adventure defined him just as much. A devoted deep sea fishing enthusiast, Mike competed in the Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament for over a decade. His team’s accomplishments were significant, earning first place in the Release Team category in 2011 and second overall in 2016 – an extraordinary feat in one of the world’s most prestigious fishing tournaments.
He was a man with a generous heart. He co-founded the Lethbridge Food Bank, ensuring that vulnerable families had access to vital resources. He also played a key role in launching the Lethbridge College Alumni Association and was recognized as one of the college’s first Distinguished Alumni for his contributions.
Mike’s legacy of perseverance, generosity and joy will forever inspire those who knew him.
Rest in peace Mike, your legacy of hard work, heart, mentorship and adventure will continue to inspire all who have had the privilege of knowing you.

SHAW, Michael SHAW, Michael 1987 – 2025 Michael David Shaw passed away on January 9, 2025, after a brave and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Mike was born and raised in Lethbridge and grew into a loyal, quiet, steadfast young man. Even through the hardest of times, Mike never lost his joy for life or his sense of humor.
Mike is survived by his father, Lachlan; Mother, Lori-Anne; Grandmother, Rebecca; brothers, Merv and Lachlan; as well as nephew, Odin; Niece, Willow; Stepdad, Stan; and dear friend, Rosalie. His memory will be cherished by many other extended family members and close friends.
As per Michael’s final request, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, Michael would ask that all who knew him to find the joy in their own lives and be at peace. He is free now.

WRIGHT, Brian BRIAN WRIGHT June 15, 1954 – January 8, 2025 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Richard Wright of Raymond, AB, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, Jan 8th 2025 at the age of 70 years.
Brian will dearly be missed by his son Nephi, his sister Norma (Wright) Zemp and her husband Mark Zemp and their children Jessica (Rodney) Peart, Russell (Kristina) Zemp, Kristin (Cord) Ross, Logan (Amy) Zemp, Brittany (Brad) Kartchner, Mason (Kennedy) Zemp along with numerous cousins and friends.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Garth and Donna Wright, his grandparents, Golden and Eunice Snow and Fred and Elizabeth Wright. As well as Nephi’s mother, Venita Toone.
Brian was born in Calgary, AB and lived in Brooks, AB until he was nine, then moved with his family to Raymond, AB where he resided until his passing.
Brian has always loved trucks, trains and most everything with a motor. His profession as a truck driver took him to almost every state in the United States and the prairies across Canada, seated behind the helm of an 18-wheeler. He was the happiest when he was working hard and driving down the road. There wasn’t a better, more meticulous truck driver than Brian.
Brian also enjoyed scuba diving, two-way radios, listening to the police scanners, Chinese food, tables of it and more than anything else – his family. Brian’s nieces, nephews and cousins played an important part in Brian’s life.
Brian was kind, generous and extremely loyal to his friends, family and employers.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Prairie Ridge Good Sam’s in Raymond for the kindness and great care Brian received while living there.
A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Monday, Jan 13th at 11:00 am at the Raymond Stake Center. Family and friends are invited to meet the family from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment to follow.

JONES, Jacqueline “Jackie” JACQUELINE “JACKIE” JONES 1971 – 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jacqueline Dawn Jones (Jackie Jones) at the age of 53 on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Born on July 30th, 1971, in Lethbridge Alberta, beloved daughter of Patrick Drader and Donella Glynn. Alongside her 4 siblings, she grew up in Coalhurst Alberta where she made lifelong friends and played softball and basketball for the High School. She later moved to Lethbridge Alberta to pursue her own path.
She was blessed with her four children, Tomie and Carson Tomiyama (Jay Tomiyama) and Avery and Jaxon Jones with her loving husband, Dave Jones. Jackie was a devoted mother whose pride and joy were her children. She instilled values of kindness, compassion, and resilience and they are a beautiful reflection of the loving and dedicated parent she was.
Jackie and Dave’s love story started with an introduction from Jackie’s long-time friend and Dave’s sister Christy in 2007, and from that time on it was decided, they were the perfect match.
She worked hard and forged unbreakable bonds in all her endeavors. Most recently, Gentleman Three where she took pride in getting to know everyone who walked through the door. Jackie was a loyal friend and a pillar of strength in her community. Known for her generosity, charm, and sense of humor, she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Jackie’s untimely passing is mourned by her family, friends, and the community she enriched with her presence. She is now reunited with her parents, Donella Glynn and Patrick Drader, in eternal peace.
She is survived by her loving husband Dave Jones; children Tomie and Carson Tomiyama, Avery and Jaxon Jones; sisters Bobbi Cherpin (Kerry Cherpin), Christie Drader, Kim Dawson (Jamie Dawson), her brother Jason Drader (Jennifer Drader); her nieces and nephews who adored her, and her extended Jones Family.
Jackie’s radiant personality and love for bold style and fashion deserve a send – off as unique and colorful as she was. Let your outfit reflect her joy, creativity and flair for life. Think bright colors, bold patterns and your most fashionable attire.

BELL, Chad BELL CHAD ALFRED BELL, of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 52 years.
Chad is survived by his mother Teresa Bell; sisters Tanya (Brad) Stephenson, Tiffany (Henry) Raats. Uncle to Tia, Taylor, Mathew and Jack. He is predeceased by his father, Larry Bell.
Born on March 14, 1972, in Thompson, MB, Chad was a kind and gentle soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a great love for birds and shared a special bond with his mother’s dog, Hunter. Chad enjoyed the outdoors and cooking.
Despite facing many health challenges throughout his life, Chad’s resilience and caring nature left an impression on everyone who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends.
At Chad’s request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chad’s memory can be made to a local animal shelter or charity of choice.
