STRONSKI, Anne Anne Stronski July 8, 1935 – May 19, 2025 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Anne Stronski, our beloved mom, grandmother and great- grandmother. Anne, aged 89, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 19, 2025 at the Claresholm General Hospital.
Anne was born on July 8, 1935, in Barnwell, Alberta to Lukas and Frances Shimek. She grew up on the family farm along with her older brother Steve. Anne married William (Bill) Stronski in 1951. Together, they started raising their six children on their farm in Turin before moving to the ranch west of Claresholm in 1971.
Anne and Bill shared a lifelong love for the western way of life, spending summers traveling across North America showing Appaloosa horses with their family. Their passion for ranching extended to raising cattle, where Anne played a vital role in keeping the ranch running smoothly. Her home was always welcoming and she had mastered the art of preparing delicious meals – often on short notice. Whether preparing legendary branding meals or ensuring the daily chores were done, she embraced the hardworking spirit of country living. Anne had a natural talent for gardening, cultivating large vegetable gardens and growing beautiful flowers that brightened her yard. She took great pride in her homegrown produce and continued canning her famous pickles well into her 80’s, sharing them with family and friends.
Beyond ranch life, Anne was also an accomplished businesswoman, playing a key role in the operation of the family-owned western store in Claresholm for many years. In her retirement, she cherished every moment traveling to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on in figure skating, hockey, dance, theater, and cattle penning.
Her sense of humour, smile, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Anne is survived by her loving family, daughters – Diane (Rick) Raeslar, Connie (Jack) Faris, Wendy (Larry) MacDonald, Sharon (Steve) Marshall; son – Bill (Carmen) Stronski and son-in-law Bryan Thompson. Grandchildren: Rhianna (Sami) Alfadili, Amy (Steve) Carver, Chris (Sandia) Thompson, Brandy Faris, Evan (Jessica) Faris, Erin MacDonald, Kyle (Carmen) MacDonald, Morgan (John) Dozeman, Taylor (Gord) French, Quentin Stronski, Ryan Stronski, 14 great-grandchildren as well as her brother, Steve (Lily) Shimek.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, her husband William Stronski, grandson Michael Marshall and daughter Debra Thompson.
At Anne’s request, no funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In memory of Anne, donations can be made to palliative care through the Claresholm and District Health Foundation, honoring her legacy of kindness and care.

RICHARDSON, Iris RICHARDSON It is with profound sadness that the family of IRIS RICHARDSON announce her passing on May 17, 2025.
This beautiful soul will be forever remembered by her husband of 67 years; Ted Richardson; daughter Paddy (Lesley); son Doug (Holly); and grandchildren Emily (Aaron) Scott, Ian (Alyssa), and Davis (Kiara) MacLean, and Ben, Josh, and Liam Richardson; four great- grandchildren, Oliver and Evelyn Scott, Ozzie and Cruz MacLean; and sisters Paddy Kirk and Judy MacLean.
After growing up in Lethbridge, Iris attended the University of Alberta to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. It was there she met Ted, and a true partnership was forged. After both receiving a degree in Pharmacy, they moved to Lethbridge and shortly after opened their first drugstore. Together, over the years, their entrepreneurial spirit opened several additional stores, all the while retaining that ‘corner store’ feel. Always a keen student with a brilliant mind, Iris returned to school in the early ’70s and obtained an Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge (with great distinction) just for fun.
Iris and Ted retired in 1994, and while they lived their free time to the fullest, it was her generosity of spirit that landed her in an organization she was very passionate about until her final days – the Interfaith Food Bank of Lethbridge. Iris was a constant presence in Client Intake. Her endless compassion and respect for the dignity of others made her committed to the food bank’s mission for almost 30 years. Iris always dodged the spotlight, never seeking recognition or attention for her many selfless and charitable endeavors.
One of Iris’ greatest pleasures was having generations of family gather at her home on any occasion. She took immense joy in seeing each grow into their own. Her grandson Ben summed her up beautifully: “Ceaselessly putting others before herself and always ensuring others were enjoying themselves to the utmost when they were her guests.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this summer. Arrangements will be announced when complete.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

MORRIS, Georgia GEORGIA MORRIS 1934 ~ 2025 It is with profound sadness that the family of Georgia Morris (nee Tallon) announce her passing at Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the age of 90.
She is survived by her two sons: Kevin (Sheri) and their daughter Talyn of Shaughnessy and Brent (Francesca) and their children Zachary and Alexa of Lethbridge.
Georgia was born in Edmonton on October 29, 1934, the second of four children to George and Margaret Tallon. Her Dad was in the RCMP, so they lived in different places in Southern Alberta. Her favorite place of all, was Waterton, which she visited every chance she got. After graduating from high school in Rossland, BC in 1952, she took schoolteacher training at Normal School in Vancouver. Within a few years of graduating, she made her way to Lethbridge to teach school. She had many wonderful memories of teaching school and developed many lifelong friendships that she cherished until the very end.
In July 1960 Georgia married the love of her life, Don Morris, whom she met on a blind date in 1958. After briefly living in Lethbridge, they moved to Shaughnessy where they started a successful farm fuel business. They worked side by side for many years at Eldorado Petroleum Service which is still in operation today and owned by her son, Kevin. After substitute teaching a bit throughout the years, she stopped teaching full time to help in their business, but mostly to raise her sons. She was also a supportive wife and mother when Don and Brent started Gas King Oil Co Ltd in 1985.
In 1992 Georgia became a widow after Don’s passing from brain Cancer at the age of 62. Our Mom was a dedicated wife who was by his side throughout his treatments and until the very end. Finding herself a widow at only 58 years old she traveled extensively with family and friends.
In January 1999 our mom married Howard Haney who she knew from attending the United Church in Iron Springs and Picture Butte. Mom had always wanted a large family and was thrilled that Howard had five kids. She and Howard loved having their families together at their home, especially at Christmas time where opening Santa Sacks and singalongs were enjoyed by all.
Howard and our mom enjoyed their years together and traveled a lot with family and friends, spending many winters together at Georgia’s home near Palm Springs. Howard passed away in July 2019 at the age of 89.
Our Mom loved Howard’s family like her own and is survived by his children; Chris (Cindy), Susan (Loren), Ted (Lori), Sally (Bruce) and Eddie (Melissa). She had a very special bond with Howard’s grandchildren; Curtis, Carly-Ann, Alex, Gillian, Meghan, Douglas, Joelle, Kesinee, Elizabeth, Aiden, Sydney and Lesley and their spouses. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren; Ellie, Iris, Ivalee, Thatcher, Boston, Ella and Theo.
Our Mom loved being a grandma to Zachary, Talyn and Alexa. Any chance she got she attended their sporting activities, dance recitals and whatever else they were involved in. She was very interested in their lives and babysat them often, playing on the floor with them, building snowmen and playing dress up. We always wondered who was having more fun!
Our Mom was always active but especially in retirement. She swam for many years, walked daily and went to the gym in her 70’s. She curled in Picture Butte and golfed while in her 80s. She loved to socialize and meet new people. Our mom attended many dances with our dad, and then Howard in later life. She was involved in the United Church in Picture Butte and for many years drove there every Sunday to attend. Her kids often said that she had a better social life than they did.
In July 2020 she sold her home and moved into The View in Lethbridge. She really enjoyed her time there and loved socializing with the other residents who soon became her friends.
Our Mom is also survived by her sister Mary Ell and her husband Rodney of Whitecourt; she had a special place in her heart for her sister Shirley’s children; Edith, Drew (deceased), Ian, Elaine, Joan and Carol and Mary’s children; Mark and Jeri and their spouses. She was very close to both our dad’s and Howard’s brothers and sisters. Mom also had great relationships with her many nephews and nieces on both the Morris and Haney sides of the family.
Mom was also predeceased by her parents George and Margaret Tallon, her sisters Shirley (Dick) Wallace and Barbara Riverside.
In lieu of flowers, and if you desire, donations will be graciously accepted by Trinity United Church at PO Box 957, Picture Butte, AB T0K 1V0.
A Memorial Service will be held for Georgia at 11:00AM, FRIDAY MAY 30, 2025, AT THE MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15 AVENUE SOUTH, LETHBRIDGE, Alberta, with Reverend Glenda Wert officiating.

Ida was born, schooled and worked in the town/city of Medicine Hat. They were married on April 14, 1956, and lived in Courtney, BC, until Richard was transferred to H Fighter Wing, Baden Baden that fall.
Our oldest children, Donna and Douglas were born at the Base hospital. The family returned to Canada in 1959, to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. This is where their youngest, Larry was born.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved infant son, Zayn, in 2016.
Born on March 3, 1987, in Chilliwack, BC, to Jan and Ellen van Huigenbos, Peter was the second of four siblings. From a young age, he was a dedicated worker, always ready with a listening ear and a willingness to help anyone in need.
Peter met his dear wife Abigaile, in August of 2012 and married on August 14, 2015. It was a joy to welcome him to our family as ‘one of the boys’. Pete and Abby made their home in Rosedale, BC, but it didn’t take long for tragedy to come to their home. In March 2016, they had a serious accident that took their unborn infant son, Zayn. The Lord wonderfully spared them for each other, and blessed them with a second son, Dillon in 2018, followed by a tiny sister, Mallory, in 2021.
In August 2022, Pete and Abby moved their little family to an acreage in Claresholm, AB. Pete worked long hours, (as is normal for farming), and Abby made their new house a home. Pete was taken to be with his Lord for reasons only known to Him.
Pete had a huge heart for helping others, and we will miss his quick wit and deep thinking. Pete has left his mark on many of us. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
