Peter was predeceased by his beloved infant son, Zayn, in 2016.
Born on March 3, 1987, in Chilliwack, BC, to Jan and Ellen van Huigenbos, Peter was the second of four siblings. From a young age, he was a dedicated worker, always ready with a listening ear and a willingness to help anyone in need.
Peter met his dear wife Abigaile, in August of 2012 and married on August 14, 2015. It was a joy to welcome him to our family as ‘one of the boys’. Pete and Abby made their home in Rosedale, BC, but it didn’t take long for tragedy to come to their home. In March 2016, they had a serious accident that took their unborn infant son, Zayn. The Lord wonderfully spared them for each other, and blessed them with a second son, Dillon in 2018, followed by a tiny sister, Mallory, in 2021.
In August 2022, Pete and Abby moved their little family to an acreage in Claresholm, AB. Pete worked long hours, (as is normal for farming), and Abby made their new house a home. Pete was taken to be with his Lord for reasons only known to Him.
Pete had a huge heart for helping others, and we will miss his quick wit and deep thinking. Pete has left his mark on many of us. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Following the Funeral Service, Peter will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

POWELL, Margaret POWELL MARGARET MARION ALICE POWELL, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Richard Powell, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the age of 75 years.
Margaret was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 10th, 1950. She grew up in Saskatoon and received her first degree at the University of Saskatchewan in the same city. She came into my life in 1983 while pursuing a teacher’s degree and a short time later, we strolled through the next 42 years holding hands and laughing.
She was brilliant academically. I have never met anyone that was funnier or kinder. A champion of folks that needed such a thing – she spent her teaching career looking after special kids in L.C.I., Wilson Junior High and later on – Nicholas Sheran Elementary School.
A few years after she retired, Margaret decided to become a substitute teacher because a lot of her friends were still in the system. Once again, she spent time with Special Education, Harbour House, The Hospital Program etc. Her very last day teaching was at the Hospital in February. As a teacher, she was outstanding. And loved. And highly respected.
My beautiful lady was a prodigious reader and often read three books or more a week. She belonged to book clubs with colleagues from yesteryear and nothing gave her more pleasure than to meet her wonderful lady friends and discuss the latest book or maybe even the state of the world?
Margaret was always ready for an adventure and experienced such things as the Amazon rain forest waiting in pitch darkness while a chap whistled to try and bring a tapir down to the river, or standing tall when an enraged water buffalo tried to kill us both in Northern Uruguay, or the herd of elephants thundering down the hill towards us in the Chete Concession of Zimbabwe. Countless other adventures and experiences. It made our lives so rich.
Margaret leaves behind her son Alex (Liz), step son Shane, grandchildren Jimena (Meg), Sydney, Siobhan, and Desmond. Five brothers and sisters starting with Carla (Nels deceased), Cathy (Ron), John (Carol), Jane (Kevin) and Hugh (Helen). Her little mini schnauzer Augie.
Every day I told her how beautiful she was, how funny she was, how smart she was. And we always held hands and she leaves her husband Richard.
A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at the CANADIAN POLISH ASSOCIATION OF LETHBRIDGE, 745 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Ron is survived by his sister, Karen (Wally) Dorchak of Vulcan, and predeceased by his parents, Alec and Jean Fraser, brothers Bob Fraser and Gord Fraser, sister-in-law Sharon Fraser and grandson Matthew Fraser.
Born in Vulcan on February 19, 1943, and raised in Lomond, Ron moved to Lethbridge after stops in Carstairs and Calgary to open Silver Automotive in 1971. Ron retired from the day-to-day operation of Silver in 2011 and continued to have a presence at the store until his passing.
Ron balanced running a successful business and travelling many kilometers to support Colin, Neil, and his grandchildren in their sporting and artistic pursuits. It was his greatest joy, whether travelling with Colin to the 1977 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA or driving Neil for games and practices in some of the coldest hockey arenas in Alberta. Ron enjoyed sports and was a season ticket holder for almost 50 years with the Lethbridge Broncos and Hurricanes and rarely missed watching NASCAR races and curling at home. RICHARDSON, Iris RICHARDSON It is with profound sadness that the family of IRIS RICHARDSON announce her passing on May 17, 2025.
This beautiful soul will be forever remembered by her husband of 67 years; Ted Richardson; daughter Paddy (Lesley); son Doug (Holly); and grandchildren Emily (Aaron) Scott, Ian (Alyssa), and Davis (Kiara) MacLean, and Ben, Josh, and Liam Richardson; four great- grandchildren, Oliver and Evelyn Scott, Ozzie and Cruz MacLean; and sisters Paddy Kirk and Judy MacLean.
After growing up in Lethbridge, Iris attended the University of Alberta to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. It was there she met Ted, and a true partnership was forged. After both receiving a degree in Pharmacy, they moved to Lethbridge and shortly after opened their first drugstore. Together, over the years, their entrepreneurial spirit opened several additional stores, all the while retaining that ‘corner store’ feel. Always a keen student with a brilliant mind, Iris returned to school in the early ’70s and obtained an Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge (with great distinction) just for fun.
Iris and Ted retired in 1994, and while they lived their free time to the fullest, it was her generosity of spirit that landed her in an organization she was very passionate about until her final days – the Interfaith Food Bank of Lethbridge. Iris was a constant presence in Client Intake. Her endless compassion and respect for the dignity of others made her committed to the food bank’s mission for almost 30 years. Iris always dodged the spotlight, never seeking recognition or attention for her many selfless and charitable endeavors.
One of Iris’ greatest pleasures was having generations of family gather at her home on any occasion. She took immense joy in seeing each grow into their own. Her grandson Ben summed her up beautifully: “Ceaselessly putting others before herself and always ensuring others were enjoying themselves to the utmost when they were her guests.”
A Come and Go Reception will be held at the GALT MUSEUM & ARCHIVES, 502 – 1 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, beginning at 4:00 P.M., with a formal service to start at 5:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

He was predeceased by his daughter Debbie and his brother Kevin.
Born on September 4, 1939, in Claresholm, Alberta, Max was the beloved son of Charles Nowlin Davies and Cora Zylpha Davies.
Max spent his formative years in Lethbridge, where he forged lifelong friendships – bonds that have endured for over 70 years. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Shirley Dianne, and together they raised four children: Debbie, Kit, Tad, and Lon.
Over the years, Max built a fulfilling career in transportation safety within the cartage and oilfield industries. Known for his integrity and strong work ethic, he left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Max had an easygoing nature and a gift for storytelling. Always quick with a joke or a playful tease, he brought joy and laughter to those around him. His sense of humour was matched only by his deep love for his family, with whom he cherished every moment.
Max will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His stories, laughter, and love will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
