DYCK, Isaac DYCK ISAAC DYCK’s family regrets to announce his passing on June 16th, 2025. He leaves behind his loving wife Helen as well as his daughter Lori (Dan) and their children Evan and Aaron, and his son Morley (Kim) and their children Perryn and Colby. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Judy Dyck. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Agnes and siblings Tina, Margaret, David, Neil and Jon.
Isaac was born on October 19, 1934, near Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He left the family farm for Saskatoon when he was 17 and thanks to his farm boy work ethic, ingenuity and determination he was never out of work a day in his life. Very few had work experience as varied as Isaac had. He started out as a construction laborer, moving on to a bus driver, beekeeper, bricklayer, cattle buyer and feedlot owner, carpenter, long haul trucker, restaurateur, ladies fashion store owner and compelling salesman of almost anything under the sun. Most would know him from his many years of home building. Always wanting to stay physically active he finished his last renovation project when he was 86.
In 1955 he met a young lady named Helen Timmer that won his heart. They were married in June 1956 in Saskatoon and were rarely seen apart from each other, always working as a team. They celebrated 69 years of marriage this month.
Isaac was well known for his kindness and sincere generosity and desire to help others. Isaac and Helen had many house guests over the years, some of them long term. He always wanted to share whatever he had, be it money or time. He did experience scarcity of both at times over the years, but he was never stingy. He was known for enjoying the company of friends over a meal out at a favorite restaurant and more often than not would pick up the tab. He was an eternal optimist and always believed that things would be better tomorrow than they were today. This quality, along with his sense of humor saw him through some very difficult days in his later years as his physical strength weakened and his health declined.
He loved people and would happily strike up a conversation with any stranger, just to learn about them. He had a special place in his heart for little children and young people, and they felt immediately comfortable around him because of his obvious warmth and kindness.
Dad was always eager to embark on a road trip. Whether it was to Palm Springs for a winter or to Saskatchewan to see family, every trip involved stops at small towns and little-known diners, a nod to his years of trucking.
Above all may Isaac be remembered for his deep respect for God’s word and his love of his God Jehovah. These two things guided him in all areas of his life, and he was always eager to share the bible’s practical advice and promises for the future with any who would listen.
A gathering to celebrate Isaac’s life will be held at the WESTSIDE KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES, 5 Rocky Mountain Boulevard West, Lethbridge, Alberta on June 28th, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
The family wishes to invite any who knew Isaac to join us. If you are not able to join us in person you can join virtually on Zoom: Meeting ID: 864 978 095 Password: paradise
