By Lethbridge Herald Obituaries on July 10, 2025.
ROSSMANN, Dieter ROSSMANN My dear husband and our dad, Dieter Gerhard Rossmann passed into the arms of his loving Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of July 3rd, 2025. Dieter was born in Ostrode, Osteruposen (East Prussia) on December 18th, 1935. He was predeceased by his parents, Elfriede and Ernst Rossmann, half siblings Guenther and Irmgard, siblings Renate and Werner. He is survived by brothers Henry (Trudy) and Horst of Edmonton, AB, wife Lilly of 54 yrs of Saskatoon, sons, Harold (Patti) Teyke of Lethbridge, AB, Fritz (Wendy) Teyke of Saskatoon, SK, Roy (Jaclyn) Teyke of Lethbridge, AB and daughter, Rita (Rod) Lawrence of Lethbridge, AB. Dieter (Opa) also leaves 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Dad’s family immigrated from Germany in 1953, landing in New Brunswick and traveling by train to Lethbridge. After 2 years in Lethbridge the family moved to Edmonton. Dieter lived in Shaughnessy, AB when he married Lilly Teyke in 1971, and they became an instant family of 6. He became stepdad to Harold, 15, Fritz 13, Roy 11 and Rita 9. He drove gravel truck and worked at Haegen Electric for many years as an automotive electrician. When computers became a household commodity in the late 70’s he jumped in with both feet and became very proficient at fixing and upgrading computers. He got a lot of joy out of computers and helping others. Dad was always renovating or building something. In 1978 he fitted parts of his home with a solar power system. Dad and Mom moved to Lethbridge in 1987 having had a home built there on Bluefox Blvd. He and Mom retired to Balfour, BC on Kootenay Lake in 1997, then out to Swan River, MB in 2009, then finally to Saskatoon, SK in 2015.
In November of 2021 Dad asked Jesus into his life and became a changed man. The power of the gospel was very real in his life. His only regret was he wished he had done it sooner. Dad struggled with mobility the last years with some ankle, knee and hip surgeries in the past few years. In January of 2025 he could no longer live at home and moved into Luther Special Care Home with Mom moving into the adjoining Luther Tower so they could remain together. Health issues came up and this past week he left his body to be joined to his Saviour and loved ones in Heaven.
Dieter/ Dad/ Opa/Uropa will be greatly missed. His smile and sense of humour will always be remembered. Enjoy Heaven Dieter/Dad, we’ll see you soon.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, July 14th at 2PM at Dad’s church, Pleasant Hill Church, 111 Whitney Ave. North, Saskatoon. For those unable to attend, a Livestream of the service will be available on Pleasant Hill Church YouTube channel.
Thank you to Luther Special Care Home for the care they gave Dad the past 6 months. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Diabetes Foundation.

HEIDEBRECHT, Rudolph “Rudy” RUDOLPH “RUDY” HEIDEBRECHT 1932 ~ 2025 Pastor Rudolph “Rudy” Dietrich Heidebrecht, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Mary Heidebrecht, passed away at Sunny South Lodge on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the age of 93 years.
Rudy was born in Linden, Alberta on May 23, 1932, and was the sixth child of Peter and Elizabeth (Dirks) Heidebrecht’s ten children. The family moved to Coaldale in 1947, where Rudy attended Alberta Mennonite High School, graduating in 1952. A sportsman at heart, he excelled in softball and hockey.
Rudy continued his studies at Coaldale Bible School, followed by the Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg earning a Th.B. This was followed by studies at Waterloo Lutheran University where he received a B.A. in 1958.
While in Winnipeg, Rudy met and married Mary Fast from St. Catherines, Ontario in 1958. They moved to Hepburn, Saskatchewan, where he taught at Bethany Bible Institute for 16 years. This is where they nurtured and raised their 4 children: Phil, Ken, Wes and Marilyn.
In 1974 Rudy and Mary accepted a call to pastor the Coaldale MB Church, faithfully serving the congregation for 22 years until their retirement in 1996. Rudy’s years in Coaldale were marked by deep friendships and a strong sense of belonging within both the church and the wider community. Fondly known as the Walking Pastor, he and Mary were embraced as dear friends and neighbours. The friendships formed during these years were deeply treasured right up to his passing.
After retirement, Rudy and Mary continued to serve in interim pastoral roles in churches in Linden, Vauxhall, and Grassy Lake. Rudy treasured his family deeply, finding immense joy in their gatherings and celebrating their milestones. The annual Heidebrecht Reunion in Waterton became a cherished tradition. Friendships were also valued, often sharing laughs and conversation over a cup of coffee. In his last years, Rudy resided at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale, where he continued his lifelong passion for reading his Bible and found great joy in singing hymns.
Rudy was predeceased by his wife Mary (2016); parents Peter and Elizabeth; siblings Erica, Lillian, Hilda, Anne, John, Victor, and Herb.
He is survived by his children Phil (Mia) and their children Tessa and Joshua; Ken (Kathy) and their son Kristopher; Wes (Mona) and their children Nicola, Jacie, and Taryn; and Marilyn. He is also survived by his siblings Betty Hall and Harry (Margaret), as well as brother-in-law George Litke, sister-in-law Linda Heidebrecht, and Mary’s sister Margaret Fast, brother Dan Fast, sister-in-law Holda Fast, and sister-in-law Betty Fast.
