HOUSTON, Erin

ERIN HOUSTON 1968 ~ 2025 Erin Houston of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, with her family by her side. She is the beloved wife of Brian Moser and cherished mother to Mackenzie Moser, Aidan Moser (Marcela), and Kale Moser. Erin is also survived by her sister, Sian (Blair) Houston, and Ashleigh Brown.
Born in Belfast, Ireland, on October 22, 1968, to James and Dorothy Houston, Erin immigrated to Canada with her family in 1971. After graduating from LCI, she pursued her education at the University of Alberta and the University of Lethbridge, earning degrees in both Science (B.Sc.) and Education (B.Ed.). Erin was a devoted mother, wife, teacher, coach, and friend. She played many sports, including soccer, water polo, track and field, and was a competitive swimmer. Her love of sport carried into her sons’ lives, as she enthusiastically followed them to hockey games, baseball games, and curling tournaments. Her warmth, generosity, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Erin had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and making them feel seen and valued.
A passionate traveler, Erin lived in New Zealand and worked in Australia, Turkey, and Greece. She also explored France, Italy, Spain, Fiji, the UK, and most of North America. Of all her adventures, Waterton held a special place in her heart – a place where she found joy in kayaking, hiking, and soaking in the beauty of nature. Erin embraced life’s simple pleasures: a good book, time spent in nature, yoga, and quiet reflection. She shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Ruby, who was her constant companion on walks and in peaceful moments.
In her 56 years, Erin lived with a vitality and purpose that most don’t achieve in a century. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering integrity.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at ST. AUGUSTINES ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 – 11 St S, LETHBRIDGE, AB

The eldest of three, Shirley was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, and grew up in Raymond. She worked in retail stores in Lethbridge most of her life. She was an avid basketball and curling fan, and also enjoyed watching baseball occasionally. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and crossword puzzles, and looked forward to the two-pager in the paper’s Boxing Day edition while they had it.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Edna Flexhaug, great-nephew Tanner Flexhaug, brother Larry Flexhaug, and her best friend and sister, Norma Richter. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Kim Lissel, Brad (Kami) Flexhaug, Sandi (Aaron) Payne, Trevor (Jenn) Flexhaug, Lonna (Phil) Johansen, Dallen (Marinda) Flexhaug, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was stubborn, feisty, had a huge caring heart, and a great sense of humour. She wished to thank the following caregivers and nurses at St. Michael’s – Lauren, Marsha, Maria (Magdalena), and Sarah. They truly took great care of her in her last days and had a very special rapport with her.

Leo was born May 19, 1940 to Calvin and Iola (née Harding) Layton. He grew up on the family farm south of the sugar factory. Being raised with seven siblings there was a lot of give and take, but also plenty of loving, caring and sharing. Leo was taught at an early age good work ethics and to love his Heavenly Father.
At the age of twenty one, Leo served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to New Zealand. Soon after his return he married his sweetheart Diane Bullock. Leo was born and raised on one end of the section and Diane was born and raised on the other, later they built their home together in the middle. Leo and Diane were blessed with two sons, Blair and Robert. Leo farmed and went to work for Great Plains Supply to supplement their income, later he worked for O & R Irrigation. But the job he loved most was with the Municipal District of Taber, where he worked for thirty five years. Life was good – work all week, enjoy sporting activities with the boys and church on Sunday. When the boys left home and went on their missions, Leo sold the farm and they started enjoying retirement by heading south to Yuma for their winters.
