HAGEN, James “Don” JAMES DONALD “DON” HAGEN 1929 ~ 2025 James Donald “Don” Hagen, beloved husband of the late Trish (née Brayne) and formerly of the late Jean (née McLeod), passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on September 17, 2025, at the age of 96 years. He is lovingly survived by his children Scott, Brad, and Melody; his stepchildren Geoffrey, Lee, and Andrew; and his cherished grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, Emily, Christopher, Nathan, David, Justin, Tyler, and Devon.
Don was well known throughout southern Alberta as a dedicated lifelong educator, serving with distinction in both teaching and administrative roles – primarily in Picture Butte and Lethbridge. He also shared his musical passion through guitar and piano, inspiring others through his teaching.
Above all, Don was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his family deeply and took immense pride in their accomplishments. His warmth, wisdom, and musical gifts touched countless lives throughout his long and meaningful life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at McKillop United Church (2329 15 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB), with a light lunch to follow. A private family interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.
