OSEEN, Larry LARRY OSEEN 1937 ~ 2025 Larry Melvin Oseen, beloved husband of Pat Oseen passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Larry was born and raised in Sundial, the third of five boys. He married Patricia McKenzie on October 12, 1957. They farmed in Sundial and the Blood Reserve until 1967. They then bought and moved to their farm north of Taber where they raised their four children.
He was athletic in his younger years playing baseball, hockey, curling and in later years golfing and skiing.
Larry loved watching his grandchildren playing their sports. He watched all six grandsons play hockey and his granddaughters in dance and rugby.
Larry and Pat travelled the world by plane, cruise ship, motorhome and Harley. Dad got his Harley license at the age of 65 and rode with Mom until the age of 82. Enjoying many miles across Canada and the U.S. with their son, family and friends.
Dad lived a full life. He worked hard and was a dedicated and successful farmer. But the most important thing to him was the love of his family, always! One of his wishes in his last few years was to take everyone to Maui, as that was one of his favorite destinations.
Dad was an amazing man, he was a good friend, kind and generous with his love and his time. He maintained his sense of humor to the end, always making us laugh with his joking manner and his funny stories of his life well lived. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness and love which will continue in all that knew him.
Larry was predeceased by his loving parents, Alfred and Ellen Oseen, brothers Harold and Dennis, nephew Shawn Oseen, mother and father-in-law Louise and Bill Mueller, and sister-in-law Skip Oseen.

Great-grandsons Cohen and Leo-Cruz Oseen, with a third to arrive in January 2026. Brothers Charles (Doreen) Oseen, Dean Oseen, Brother-in-Law Bryan Oseen, Sister-in-Law Donna Oseen and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a huge thank-you to Dr. Bridge and the staff at Fairmont Extendicare. Their care and compassion for Dad was so appreciated during the last year.

POYTRESS, Dale “Shawn” DALE “SHAWN” POYTRESS April 14, 1962 – October 16, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dale “Shawn” Poytress on October 16th, 2025, at the age of 63. Shawn passed away suddenly, yet peacefully in his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on April 14th, 1962, Shawn was adopted as a baby by his parents Charles Alfred and Joan Marie (Littlewood) Poytress. He grew up surrounded by love, and his bond with his late father, Charles, remained one of the most cherished relationships of his life. We take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Shawn is survived by his devoted mother, Joan, and his loving children: Jennifer Renee Hyggen (Blake), Matthew Shawn Poytress (Christina), and Andrew Paul Poytress. He was a proud and constant presence in the lives of his five grandchildren: Jayce Adam Hyggen, Laryn Renee Hyggen, Austin Shawn Poytress, Ashlyn May Hyggen, and Rowan James Poytress. They were the light of his life, and he never missed a chance to cheer them on or share how much he loved being their Grandpa – a role he wore with deep pride and joy.
Shawn is also survived by his siblings Alan Poytress (Lorraine), Lynn Knight (Gary) and Faye Funa (Tevita) as well as many nieces and nephews. Shawn will now be with his brother, Glen Poytress who passed before Shawn was born.
Shawn was known for his sincerity, big heart and sense of humour. He took care of those he loved and was a fierce protector. He made friends wherever he went and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His favourite place to be – when not with his family – was on the open road, riding his Harley-Davidson. The rumble of the engine and the wind in his face brought him peace, and his passion for motorcycles was a true part of who he was.
A Celebration of Shawn’s Life will be held on October 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Northside LDS Chapel in Lethbridge (2213 6A Ave North). All who knew him are welcome to join in honouring a life lived with love and a passionate dedication to family.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with what Shawn would have wanted, the family invites you to honour his memory by supporting what he loved most – his grandchildren. Whether that is through a kind gesture, sharing a memory with them, cheering a little louder at their next game or event or contributing toward their future in some way, your love and support would mean the world to him.
Ride free, Shawn. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. To send a condolence, please visit http://www.salmonandsons.ca
