LAU, Chung CHUNG LAU 1934 ~ 2025 Chung Ken Lau of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Yick Fuen Tsang Lau, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
Chung Ken was born in the Province of Guong Dong, China. In 1958, he immigrated to Canada landing in Vauxhall, Alberta to live and work at Joe Howe’s farm. In 1961, he brought Yick Fuen over from China, where they were soon married. They settled in Lethbridge, Alberta to raise their family of four children in 53 years of marriage before Yick Fuens passing.
Dad had many years of restaurant involvement and ownership. He worked at the Golden Gate restaurant with Douglas and Mei Dong. He later became partner and helped run the Alexander restaurant for 15 years. He moved on to the Regent Restaurant for a few years when an opportunity came up. He mentored his sons, Allan and David at Paradise Gardens in Taber, Alberta in 1991. He taught his boys all of his recipes and they successfully ran that restaurant for 12 years. The sons sold and moved to Lethbridge where Chung Ken helped them run Ciao Mein. He was hard-working, dedicated and very family oriented. When dad was not with his family and not at work, his other passions in life were being a proud past president and member of the K-Ying Po senior society, an active member of the Freemason Society of Lethbridge, and also the Chinese Cultural Society of Lethbridge.
Chung Ken is survived by his children Lily Cousins (the late Bill Cousins Junior) Lau, Lila (Michael) Hoffman, Allan (Allyson) Lau, David (Stephanie) Lau and grandchildren; Blake and Daniel (Tylyn) Cousins, Courtney (Philip) Botterill, Douglas (Greer) Hoffman, Brenden Lau, Naithan (Partner Sarah) Lau, Adam Lau, Madison, Alycia and Jaxson Lau. Also, Great-Grandchildren, Ellie and Abbie Botterill, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
A Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY following the Funeral Service.
The Funeral Service will be livestreamed, and a recording will be available to watch after the service.

MILLER, Don MILLER With sadness the family of Don Lee Miller announce his peaceful passing at home in Alma, Wisconsin on October 7, 2025 at the age of 94. Don farmed near Readymade and lived in Lethbridge for 38 years, where he raised his family with his first wife Mary Kay (Cantwell). He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, his three children, eight grandchildren and two great grandsons, as well as one step son and his family. In accordance with Don’s wishes, no service was held.

WALLOCHA, Editha DENNIS MICHAEL CONNOLLY 1944 – 2005 Our beloved Dennis died in Foothills Hospital, Calgary, on Thursday October 23, 2025, after suffering a major heart attack at home, from which he never regained consciousness. His family thanks Lethbridge EMS, the nursing staff at Chinook Regional Hospital, the STARS medics, and all the doctors and nurses in the Foothills Cardiac I.C.U (especially Nurse Ram and Dr. Joshi) who all worked so hard to try to save Dennis.
Dennis is survived by his wife Kate, his son David, daughter Helen, and his cherished granddaughter Rose; also by his brother Michael and his sisters Sue (Bill) and Lee (Pete) in Australia and his brother-in-law Martin (Janet) and sister-in-law Sarah (Peter) in England, and by his much-loved nephews and nieces (14 of them) in both Australia and Europe.
Dennis lived a rich, full life with joy and enthusiasm. He was born in Wagga Wagga, Australia on January 1, 1944, and brought up in Sydney by his mother Patricia and father Patrick, with his three younger siblings. After an Honours degree in Mathematics at Sydney University, Dennis was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship for his Masters degree at Western University in London, Ontario. On his way back to Australia, he applied to the new University of Lethbridge.
Dennis began teaching there in September 1967; he taught over 10,000 students in his 54 years of teaching. Dennis was a huge supporter and patron of the University Pronghorns teams, and of theatre and opera, both on campus and in the community.
Dennis loved life; he was always positive, energetic, cheerful, generous and considerate. Parkinson’s Disease slowed him down physically over the last few years, but did not dampen his zest for life, for projects and research. His love for his students, his friends, and above all, his family remained as strong as ever. Dennis will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered by many, many people on three continents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 St. S, Lethbridge.

MILLS, Gary MILLS With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gary Edward Mills on October 15, 2025, in Banagher, Ireland, at age 78. Born January 8, 1947, in Chilliwack, BC, Gary lived a life of service, leadership, and community. A proud RCMP officer, he especially loved his northern postings, where he built programs, coached sports, and inspired community spirit. Later, he served as President of Hockey Alberta and Mayor of Pincher Creek. Known for his “hey hi!” greeting, humour, and generosity, Gary was devoted to his family – his children Kellie Ann, Gary Jr., Andy, and his beloved grandchildren, Allyssa, Bella, Maryn, Maddox, Griffin and Juno, his life’s greatest joy.

BERES, Ricky BERES, RICKY CLIFFORD Oct 9, 1950 – 2025 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rick Beres on October 18, 2025.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Cory, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years as well as his sister Brenda (John) Spiehsl. He leaves behind three sons. Rick (Dar) Beres, their children Zachary (Mary) Beres, Mackenzie (Jason) Watson with great-grandchildren Liam, Avalee, and Lucas; James (Christine) Beres, their children Timothy, Benjamin, and Azure; Andy (Carla) Beres and their son Xander. He also leaves his foster son Dan Larcher, and Cassio (Krista-deceased) Maffia, and their daughters Lua, Adriana, and Micaela, who were close with the Beres family.
Rick was known for being a great neighbour, volunteer, and friend as well as a loving and supportive husband. Both he and his wife Cory enjoyed traveling the world together and they eventually saw every continent.
He worked as a portable and oilfield welder for most of his life, and later taught welding at the Lethbridge College. After retiring, he volunteered at Career Transitions & Skills Canada both on a provincial and national level.
One of his favorite hobbies was as an amateur radio operator (VE6CW) where he spoke with people from around the world.
Rick was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and volunteered with Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
While his sudden loss is hard to bear, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering.
A gathering to celebrate his memory will take place on Saturday, Nov 15 at the Lethbridge Polytechnic Garden Court restaurant, 2PM-5PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Standoff, AB, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Jose Bustalino celebrating.
Following the Funeral Mass, Coleman will be laid to rest in the Blood Band Cemetery.

SOICE, Clayton CLAYTON SOICE 1929 ~ 2025 With great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Clayton Soice, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was surrounded by the love of his entire family.
Clayton is survived by his children: Gary (Cathie), Douglas (Catherine), Daryl, Linda (Kevin) Douglas and Shelley (Todd) Gibson; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Delvoir Longair; Marjorie (Howard) Anderson; sister-in-law Kay Gorrill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, with whom he shared a loving marriage of 52 years until she passed in 2004; brother LeRoy (Riny) Soice; brother-in-law Ernest Longair; nephew Randy Longair; sister-in-law Glenna Gorrill; and brothers-in-law Harry Gorrill and Jerry Gorrill.
Raised on the family farm in Warner, Alberta, Clayton developed an enduring passion for farming and ranching. He dedicated more than 77 years to the land and the herd before moving to Lethbridge. Even after his move, the farm was always on his mind. He frequently returned to Warner to check the crops, lend a hand during branding, and repair machinery. Clayton’s legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his strong work ethic, deep agricultural knowledge, and genuine love for the land.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humour, Clayton had a remarkable ability to bring laughter and warmth to those around him. He was a true gentleman who was deeply loved, is profoundly missed, and will forever remain in our hearts.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents at Black Rock Terrace; home care aides; EMS workers; and Dr. Johan Meyer for their compassionate care during Clayton’s final days.
A private inurnment and celebration of life will be held for Clayton on Wednesday, November 5th.

SHIMOZAWA, Tom TOM SHIMOZAWA 1931 ~ 2025 Tom Shimozawa, 94, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Beloved husband to Fumi. Survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters in law and four grandchildren. Reed and his wife Jessica and their children Romin and Emiko. Derek and his wife Lindsey and their children Finn and Sid.
