MILLER, Marion MILLER After a life well lived, MARION MILLER passed away gently with her family by her side at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at the age of 91 years, beloved wife of the late Elwin Miller. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Marion was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Raymond, AB, to Annie and Lemuel Adams. After graduating from Raymond High School, Marion moved to Lethbridge and worked at the CIBC bank which she was very proud of. On Nov. 7, 1952, Marion married her sweetheart Elwin and together with family they farmed in the Readymade community for 60 years. They raised three children Wendy, Gwen and Calvin.
Marion was a hard working farm wife and truly loved the farm. She was ever resourceful managing responsibilities of household, family, tending her beautiful garden/yard, preserving her bountiful harvests, raising chickens/eggs, baking and cooking amazing meals plus helping out working on the farm. She loved her dogs and cats and they followed her everywhere.
Marion loved sports from a young age. She enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing, swimming and attending theatre productions at the Yates, playing cards and especially winning at Crib. She was active in her community and was involved in the Women of Unifarm, 4-H club activities, the Readymade 50+ club, a member of the LSCO and the Ladies golf league at Indian Hill GC where she was known to hit a long ball! Marion and Elwin spent wonderful winters in Arizona where they enjoyed camping and hiking, went to flea markets and various activities but mom’s favourite pastime was by the pool with a good book.
Above all, Marion’s greatest joy was family and especially her grandchildren. She played an important role in their lives. From chaperoning, helping with homework, playing games, attending their sporting events, concerts and dance recitals with pride and enthusiasm. Her life was simple but extraordinary at the same time. She found peace through her faith and by spending time with her loved ones, reading, enjoying the sunshine and fresh mountain air, especially in Waterton, AB.
In the last 13 years, Marion faced the challenges of dealing with a stroke and endured this difficult journey with grace and remained respectful and kind to her caregivers. Marion was a strong and independent soul, blessed with the gift of hard truths and endless love. As a mother and grandmother she was not afraid to speak her mind if she knew it was for the benefit of the family. Her greatest wish was to simply see everyone happy and working together.
Stories abound with great love for Marion. She will always be remembered as a strong, honourable and hard working woman with a big heart whose greatest love was family.
Marion is survived by her children Wendy (Alan) of Kelowna, Gwen of Lethbridge and Calvin (Cindy) of Readymade; her 10 cherished grandchildren: Chelsea, Breanna, Jadon (Jessica), Ryan (Hayley), Aaron (Jennifer), Tori and Keaton, Brant, Caitlynn (Spencer) and Lacey (Nelly). 8 great-grandchildren: Sidney, Quinn, Brooks, McKenna, Colin, Gillian, Remi and Koji.
